Got to meet this amazing lady Sonia Kaplan, few survivors of the Holcost. A must visit museum so sad that the United states didn't help sooner and many lives could have been saved if others would have stepped in and helped but no one wanted to get involved such sham.

A must see for everyone! It s unimaginable that something like this could happen in our world, in our time. But it did and still does. The exhibits will stay with you and the quiet throughout, even though there are 100 s of people with you, is haunting. We must do better and you leave this location knowing that you will try.

Comprehensive permanent exhibit covering the years leading up to the German 1930's, and then slowing the clock down to dissect (through material examples) the active atrocities spanning the 30s and 40s.

Exhibit outside of the permanent exhibit entrance covering the book "protocols of the elders of Zion" was fascinating. I had never known of such a book or its deceptive nature. I highly recommend anyone Google this book's nefarious role in fomenting anti-semitism.

This is an excellent and well organised Holocaust Memorial Museum. It is easy to walk through and see so much.
You could quite easily spend all day here and not see everything properly.
Come here and take your time.

I can't begin to explain how important this museum is. We all need to visit it at least once. Traveled here on trips many times with survivors and the impact they have on the experience is unforgettable.

There are no words that can really describe but a lot of people including myself for feeling. It was bittersweet and tragic at the same time. Worth going through. Take the time to come out and check it out.

The subject matter is well known but the museum treats it with the utmost respect and presents its material in thought provoking ways. Definitely the first museum you should go to when visiting Washington.

Very hisory oriented, admission is free w tickets or membership fee, some of displays may not be for younger children, they do have a portion of museum that is appropriate for younger children. The museum was packed w people which makes it very uncomfortable to just go from each display to the next without bumping into someone. For the amount of people the restrooms we're clean

Unbelievable experience. Somber but eye opening even to a student of history. Should be required visit to help prevent the mistakes of the past from happening. Excellent use of available space to tell a compelling story and great exhibits. The shoe and hair section will leave you speechless.

Everyone should visit the Holocaust Memorial when in DC. Very moving experience and the exhibits are extremely well done and thorough. Prepare to spend many hours here to fully explore the museum.

As a World WarII history buff, I learned a few things I didn't already know. The displays and descriptions were beyond perfect in explaining what all took place. A few times I almost cried but my eyes were watery. The quiet of all who were there...even the school kids. The shoes and ceiling to wall photos...superb in making it real. Please get educated and go and never forget nor let it ever happen again!!! Peace. Love. Freedom.

Heartbreaking, sobering, necessary education for all people about the depravity that is not to far off from any human society and against which we must constantly be vigilant in our own hearts.

Get ready to have emotions rocked. This museum goes through history from the rise of the Nazi party to their fall. The strife of the Jews, disabled, homosexuals, gypsies, and so many others becomes more than just words on paper. More, there is a small exhibit on the atrocities occurring today in Syria. It's eye opening to see just how history really does repeat itself on many levels. I highly recommend this museum.

Very emotional, from the start I was struggling to hold back tears because of how personal the museum feels, every possible name is listed and it feels like no one is forgotten, even people who were unidentifiable

The Holocaust Museum was highly informative and interesting, and told the story of the Holocaust without any sugar coating, and gave the full effect of the Holocaust, as well as many detailed accounts of the severity.

Though the Holocaust Museum is informative in telling the history, but I feel that, though it is difficult to implement, the Holocaust Museum lacked historical perspective from both parties. The museum could have also contained more artefacts which would have allowed viewers to better understand the pain of Holocaust victims.

"Daniel's Story" was suggested to us by the staff prior to entering the permanent exhibit because we had our son with us. This was a good way for him - and us - to better understand the effects of antisemitism on a child. If you come here, you'll need a few hours to take in everything this museum tells you.

Experience here was inspirational and thought provoking. I found myself weeping in the gas chamber exhibit. The courage, resilience, and strength of the ones who survived. My hats my heart goes with them and the ones who did not make it. Wow!! A must see, feel experience.

A stunning part of history no matter what your religion. Immediately you are emotionally connected to someone who went through this horror, you view photos, videos, and most strikingly see and touch actual objects from the Holocaust. So much to see, so I will definitely go again. Compliments to all involved in this amazing experience. No cost to see this museum.

Best museum we visited this trip. My 12 year old son was enthralled with the details of a subject he had been learning about in school. Younger children probably won't get as much out of the experience. The individual storied and personal objects impacted me the most.

The museum was an amazing experience, the pictures the videos were all so touching it truly does make you think.. but the security outside n inside were so rude and had respect. I asked a simple question as don t i just lay my book bag on belt or do i put it in a tray and he looked at me and said don t you see what other people are doing.. you would think they would treat a lot better bring that we are at the Holocaust museum they were the most rudest security I ve ever dealt with and even getting picked up by an Uber as it s pouring raining as we run out side n the security guard yells at us and says what are you hard of hearing You can t get in your here it has to be over there am pointed to the corner of the street.. definitely need an upgrade on the security

This was by far one of my favorite museums in DC. Great exhibits and explanations. Plus the walkthrough told the Holocaust story from beginning to end while adding stories and artifacts from survivors.

I was here in January 2001. Extremely moving. When I went into what I call the shoe room, there was not a dry eye in any of my peers that went through that. Thinking every other shoe in that room belonged to a person killed by nazis. That brought tears to even my eyes. Would I go back given the chance? Absolutely.

The Holocaust Museum is one of those things that every single person should experience at least once. It's an incredibly sobering, heartbreaking, and infuriating experience all at the same time. It was a year or two ago when I went, but it's something I still think about every now and then. The amount of people trying to take pictures was a little frustrating, but all in all an experience I'll never forget.

I really enjoyed this museum, despite it's very emotional subject matter. The detail and descriptions were outstanding and the emotions they trigger were intense (viewing the railcar, smelling the shoes, etc). No trip to DC isn't complete without spending a couple of hours walking through this place. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed being here, if the word enjoyed is at all appropriate.

You set off at intervals of 15 minutes in groups of about 15 - 20. As you work your way around you move through time and feel what it would have felt to be Jewish during the Holocaust.

It is an incredibly respectful and yet still harrowing journey through the exhibition. It is done on such a big scale but without the detail or individual stories being lost.

I have trully never felt as I did when I left here. I was actually tired and felt really drained. It takes about 3 or 4 hours to do it properly which given the topic is tough. So go prepared.

This is definitely a must! If you are in DC go. Make sure you book your tickets early, they go fast. Within minutes.

I have heard about this museum and had the opportunity to visit today. The complete history of rise and fall of Hitler and the Holocaust created by him have been very nicely presented in a chronological manner. It is a Frank attempt without any bias or prejudice to show what has happened to millions of Jews during the period 1933 to 1945.
My heart was heavy and eyes were moistured when I left.
It is a must visit. It is heavily crowded and it is better to get the ticket online to avoid disappointment. Direct entry is free but limited and online costs USD 1.
