The establishment of this university was accompanied by the issuance of an order to proceed with the construction of the new university city buildings, where the Al-Abidiya area, southeast of Mecca, overlooking Arafat, has tested a new location for the university. The foundation stone of this giant project, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, was laid in 1406 AH and the second phase is expected to be completed soon.
