Horrible discharge planning. We live out of state ...

Horrible discharge planning. We live out of state and had a close family relative get admitted who was confused and had a bad infection. There was an issue with verifying insurance and the bottom line is if the social worker thinks you have no insurance they want you out whether it is safe or not. The attending physicians were fine, we were told two different dc plans. The physicians were saying dc to short term facility for additional care but the case manager and social worker were pushing for our relative to go home even though they lived alone. We were at the hospital 4 days and the day we left we thought a transfer was happening that didn t occur. My relative did have insurance and additional benefits that were not correctly verified beforehand. As we were driving out of state we were getting multiple phone calls from the social worker one even asking us if our relative could write a check for payment when they were in no shape to do so. She wanted our relative out of the hospital that night. No one in social work seemed to listen or coordinate well in the time we were physically there, if a patient has any issue with mental health they don t want to know about it. Nurses were nice and doctors were fine.

They have teams of out of network Doctors that will bill you for years after your discharge. Asking for an itemized bill will just get you sent to collections. They keep you as long as they think your insurance will pay then you are miraculously cured even if you still have a broken back. They discharged a loved one of mine with a broken back. After days of intense suffering they went to a real hospital that kept them for over a week. They hire teams of lawyers to scrub the internet of the negative reviews and to make any lawsuits against them impossible. Per the lawyer: a staff member would have to walk in and shoot you in front of a crowd. They will drag the case out so long that you will have over 250,000 in legal fees before the case get heard. I beg you not to go or take a loved one to this or any premier facility, if you do may God have mercy on your soul.

You won't get any better care then at this hospital. Caring friendly assuring. Also a very clean and safe environment. They take great care of each individual and make sure the patient understands what they decide. So, if you're nervous about going to a hospital, you can relax at this one just knowing your in good hands. They're simply the best and always sanitized and before going in you are greeted at the door by warm friendly staff who make sure you have a mask and everything. If you need a wheelchair they will provide. ANYTHING you need...they will assist. I'm very thankful that this hospital is 100%

Family member was there for two weeks after a major surgery. They took good care of her. There were a few here and there that obviously were just there for a paycheck, but you have that most places. Medical professionals really need to have empathy and tolerance towards sick individuals. If you don t, maybe you should look for a different line of work.

I selected UVMC due to its location, but my experience with this hospital left much to be desired. First, after outpatient surgery, I failed to receive a compression stocking and the ice machine was incorrectly connected. Discovering this several days later, my surgeon was frustrated and allowed me to buy a stocking from her to prevent any serious blood clots. Then, the hospital sent me a bill for the entire surgery, stating that I had no insurance. This was not accurate since the surgery had been successfully pre-certified and I had prepaid my estimated patient responsibility. The billing department argued with me and eventually I had to get my insurance company on a conference call to confirm. It ended that the billing department somehow altered my member ID number incorrectly, which also meant the anesthesiologist also had the incorrect number, which I had to correct as well. Next, I received another bill, which was OVER DOUBLE the estimation. I was told this was because surgeries are unpredictable; however, nothing unexpected happened during the procedure to justify over double the estimated charges. Due to the additional costs, I requested an itemized bill several times. Then, ironically I discovered I was even charged for the stocking that I never received. Ultimately, it took almost 10 phone calls to the billing department, multiple resubmissions to the insurance company, and 1.5 years to get this completed. Needless to say, I will NOT be returning to this hospital.

I had a breast biopsy on 1-5. The doctor that performed the biopsy didn't allow the numbing agent to work before he started removing tissue? It hurt like crazy. The nurse told him 3 times I was responding to pain, he said "sorry" and continued. I believe his name was Dr. Desai? Make sure someone else does your procedure if you go here.

The female/nursing staff were fantastic in contrast. But the Dr.'s actions were so egregious, that I can only warn you.

Had our baby girl delivered this weekend, experience overall was great. Our nurse Kylie was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, caring, and put us at ease during the process. Went above and beyond our entire labor. Thank you so much to the staff at UVMC Maternity!

Was admitted yesterday and everything was goin ok (can't be that great of experience it's a hospital). Today I ask about a shower and was told I would be able to take one. Well girl comes in to get my vitals and I mention the shower she tells me they haven't used the showers since covid started but she could bring stuff in to get cleaned. So apparently none of the patients in this facility are able to properly bathe. That's nasty and I will be checking myself out today!
