Never went to school here, but as a visitor to campus, had an excellent time. Met a lot of cool and interesting people and had a book signed by one of the climate professors that wrote a book about Hurricane Andrew. Very cool school!!!

You pay high tuition, but if you really get involved on campus you get every penny back. Most students have an immense and indefinable passion for graduating from UM. But they could definitely start lowering tuition, especially since they started accepting more students to mitigate costs.

- I'm in love with this location. Doing my very best as of now to move down here. I want to live right near the ocean. Not to mention, watching the Miami Heat up close would be nice. I'm pushing!

Fantastic school - excellent academics, great student experience, all the support you would expect from a private institution. However it is very expensive so it's best if you're wealthy or receive a scholarship.

My daughter went on a field trip today and enjoyed every second of it. She loved the campus and how people work hard to graduate. She wants to go there when she is older. She is definitely excited. She wants to be a pedestrian doctor and I'm so proud of her.

Unless your parents can afford the exorbitant tuition or you have a great scholarship I would not recommend attending UM. I had some good professors and some not so good. Class sizes are fairly small which will matter for some, others not so much. People talk about the campus being beautiful but in my opinion it was nothing special. It is a fairly new school and the modern buildings lack the character of older schools established in the 1800s. In addition, the older buildings they did have are being torn down to make room for newer facilities. Weather is a plus if you don't mind the humidity or lots of rain. If you are looking for the "typical" college town experience I doubt you will find it at UM due to its location in a large metro. It seems like UM is a hot destination for prep school kids from the Northeast. The vast majority of guys that attend UM are bros. Also rich kids from around the world, especially Latin America, the Caribbean, and China. Save your money. Start off at a Community or Junior College then transfer to a public four year college or university. At the end of the day the University of Miami (like all other colleges and universities) is a business. They just want your money. They don't care about you or what happens to you after you leave. That's my two cents.

The campus is fully open to the public. You can enjoy a walk around the buildings and the little lake. The palms and the grass make it very nice. You can also admire some students in the classes or at the pool. There is also a shop where you can find all types of goods personalized UMiami .

I should have gone to school here.
Have visited here for classes and performances all my life and I've always LOVED the lush, campus grounds, the macaws, and best weather.
THE school to attend in America. Has it all.
Was there on a Wednesday recently to work their Farmer's Market.
Yes, urbane UM hosts a market every Wednesday.
Part of their WellCanes program.
And don't get me started about the athletics...

Throughout my 4 years here, I got the impression that I was not welcome because I don't come from a wealthy family. The financial aid office was constantly incompetent and disrespectful. They seemed to think doing their job -- helping me access tens of thousands of dollars government-sponsored in debt -- was a charitable act that I needed to be grateful for. They seemed to think treating students with respect was optional.

This university doesn't care about its students. If you're here to spend your parents' money partying and getting and over-priced degree, then this school is for you. If you're trying to make a better life for yourself by pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps, then avoid this school at all costs.

It is all about the "U" here in Miami. This university is huge. There are many events hosted here, from sports to galas. If you have the means and the academics it is definitely worth a look.

The professors are rude. The students are very dumb rich kids from up north and know nothing about worldly affairs. It is completely unwalkable in Miami You risk your life at every turn. I would not recommend this school....Go somewhere else trust me!

Great place I saw tons of wildlife including a Komodo dragon. The weather was amazing and I even got a tan loved my trip I would go back if I get the chance. Although next time I am going to fly it's a bit of a drive from the top of the state.

Absolutely beautiful campus! I took a tour and the campus is very post-modern. Lots of art works and installations spread throughout. There is a wonderful mall style food court. We took a look at the dorms and each person gets their own room in their floor. Tour information session extremely informative with costs, requirements, options, etc. Everyone could not have been more nice and helpful!

wow

Go Canes! Enrolling in the MBA program fall 2018 visited the campus and fell in love with the staff and environment. My soon to be wife graduated from TheU and now the circle will be completed.

2014- Here's the deal, all private universities are expensive. The ones complaining should have chosen a public college. As for the people suggesting UM is a party school, isn't every school?! Btw, I'm the parent and I'm making sacrifices for my kid to go to UM. We had other choices but UM has a great Biomedical Engineering program that fit.

Location: great area, sure parts of every city has it's problems so be careful, travel with friends and stay out of trouble. Coral Gables is a great area. Go to USC, area pretty much sucks! I know I'm from LA. Those people that think they (parents) wasted their money, well I say perhaps you wasted your time on being fools and not actually studying. Should have chosen a community college then, way cheaper.

You get what you put into it. Find a summer job that might pertain to your major, hopefully they'll pay you. It takes work, no matter where you go to school. Times are bad, finding a real job is very difficult these days. If this is why you think you wasted your money, you're wrong. Higher education will win over not going to college every time. Be patient.

Parents: UM is a great school! The campus is amazing. If your kid is smart they give scholarships, although many privates do. Many public colleges are good too. Research your options. We chose private because the California UC system and State schools are impacted and a mess! Getting out in 4 years is a stretch. Private will cost us less. Visit the colleges. If you can't travel the schools hold seminars close to your area. Ask questions. Go out of your state, they offer incentives.
Good luck!

GO CANES!
