As a student at this University there is so many positive things I could share. The first is the beautiful scenery. Second, the pride within each and every longhorn. Third, the way you will learn about becoming the best you in a way that will change your life forever.

If you're actually looking for a place to change YOUR world, come to the University of Texas at Austin.

Amazing campus in an around the original "40 Acres". World class education and facilities with a very diverse student population. Great undergrad programs and exemplary masters and doctorate programs. Athletics are another fun pride point with Longhorns all over the world.

Great public education institution.

Great public education institution.
Also a great price for the quality of education.
Also I like the atmosphere (liberal and modern)

Recommend: join many student organizations and make friends as you do the service hours/volunteer to help the communities
+ talk to professors a lot to get to know them

My rating is for departments and administrative heads in the College of Liberal Arts. You are on your own. Don't believe what they tell you even if it is in writing. They will "change" policy and ignore they told you otherwise. Then they will keep passing you around until you give up trying to make someone accountable.

The University of Texas at Austin is a top tier institution. I am currently studying here at the McCombs School of Business and I could not be more proud. If you are looking for a school that has fine academics, good sports teams, and a night life, then UT is the place to be. Hook 'em horns!

The University Library has an excellent atmosphere. It is quiet, serene and a great space for concentrating in your work. I spend hours in the Library, for my research work, and there remains no count of time. It is unbelievable that with quite a large demographic of students accumulating in that space, it is still silent and tranquil.

On the whole, the professors are mediocre and many don't seem to care about the students. Most of the time, the university's staff act professionally, but occasionally they are unreasonable and incompetent. Many classes are too large. The campus and surrounding areas are overcrowded. UT is focused on maintaining its image instead of helping its students succeed.

I own and run a school in Nigeria and due to the high incidence of children with special needs I applied for a masters in special education.
I tried endlessly to communicate with the course coordinator but she never ever replies mails nor pick or return calls. The only time she ever responded to my mail was when i routed it through another person in the department and just that ONCE.
I needed to know if it was okay for me to apply but my mails and calls met brick walls. After paying the application fee and going through all the stress of application I was denied. I sent a mail to the same coordinator to find out what went wrong so I can learn what to put in place. It is almost a month now and still no response. It is really disappointing as I held the university in high esteem before now.

It's one of the largest universities in the USA and also has many interesting buildings which are open for non students. The libraries are world renown, as well as the art collections. The Harry Ransom Center is home to the legendary Magnum Archive of photography.
Sports is the big thing here however as the football program is near cult status among the students and alumni, as well as the wanna-be's.
Also there is a great little park near the UT tower and the Horticulture's green house which has large group of friendly squirrels you can feed by hand.

Just want to take a second to congratulate President, William Powers for not being manipulated and mired down by politics on Affirmative Action. We all know it may be time to update the program to a more current policy. I believe that whatever the direction or modifications in the future, this school is too good not to do the right and equitable thing for all Americans seeking a quality education!

Bravo!

I just graduated from the University of Texas Austin and I want to go back already! I had so many great professors who were all very knowledgable in their fields. I graduated from the communications department and I enjoyed my four years there so much. The new belo center for new media is very nice and the equipment that they make available to students is really amazing! What starts here changes the world....really.

Disclaimer: I am not a student at UT

Disclaimer: I am not a student at UT

I did however take a photography class at ACC and we went to UT Austin campus to shot the architecture and sculptures. The campus itself is really beautiful, and I was impressed at the enormity of everything. However, while I was on my day visit there. I met a few UT photography students, and although they had been in their classes just as long as I had they had no clue how to shoot manual - and in fact were not even required to learn how to do so, nor were they being trained in lightroom.

These are essential skills in modern photography, and it didn't give me a good impression on the quality of education that might be received there. I won't give this a negative review, because it would be unfair to judge the entire systems education based on my disconcerting glimpse.

If I could, I would give this review 0 stars.Terrible experience here. It was hot all the time because late one night when the t-sips were in bed, Ol' Sul Ross took a lantern in the shed, the Aggies kicked it over, he winked and then he said it will be a hot time in Austin tonight. Burn in hell all you T-sips! -Thanks and Gig'em

The University of Texas at Austin is AMAZING. First of all, yes it's liberal, but it's Texas liberal. As someone who grew up on the East Coast there is a world of difference. It is one of the most diverse schools in the country and the city is equally as diverse. Top three things about life in Texas 1) Longhorn Football 2) Music 3) Food.

Terrible university bowing to liberal pressure to remove historical statues that 4 weeks ago they had no problem with! Find another university because this university is headed by a nitwit! Also, they removed the statues in the middle of the night which only goes to show their cowardice -- students if you can go somewhere else, please do!

Responsible for the abundant use of the color 'burnt orange' in Austin. Not a bad thing, but a great thing. Check out the Blanton Museum of Art, the Harry Ransom Center (world's first photograph and one of the most complete Gutenberg Bibles), and schedule a tour to the top of the Main clock tower. Fun fact: the bells you hear from the bell tower are, in fact, real bells. Take that, cost effective speakerphone replacements.

Learned some cool stuff, met some cool people, but wasted a lot of time and money. parking is horrible.... And when they banned smoking on campus all they did was remove the campus ashtrays and trashcans. real bloomberg approach, lame and ineffective. good times though. will not be returning, but would recommend
