Such a great place. The outdoor garden space is really serene. And it's free!

The garden was beautiful and seeing unusual fruit on the trees, you are oh that what a fig tree looks like or other plants and trees.
This place was very beautiful, had a nice array of plants from different environments. It was well maintained and clean.
Stumbled across here by accident, glad I did though
A neat garden with different zones based on regions in the US.
Meh...I would say it's probably overvalued at free. It's definitely not terrible, but I am sure there are better things one can use their free time doing.
Great experience. Free. When DC feels like a jungle outside, very nice to go see a real jungle.
An oasis of green and warmth in winter, beautiful in every season.
Definitely a nice place to visit and look at the different plants. The medicinal portion was very interesting and the outside courtyard was beautiful to sit in and relax.
Absolutely stunning place to walk around! Also nice to find a bench and just sit and enjoy the peace, which is welcomed after walking around DC all day.
Not the best activity with kids. Had some really beautiful plants, flowers, rooms, and information, but would have enjoyed better without kids. They were a little too energetic for this type of place.
Great Garden with wonderful plants and displays. Innovation is common place at this garden, so it is fun to visit often.
It was nice but not fantastic. I guess our expectations were unusually high because it was the "national' garden. Several of the sections/rooms looked like the plants were old and tired. A number of the large plants and trees had reached the roof/ceiling and were suffering from lack of space. Some could be trimmed but many should be replaced. We've been in better "city" and university botanical gardens than this one.
Has plants from all climates and I really enjoyed the Orchid plants. They were really beautiful. Note if you're going there on a hot day, definitely take time to cool off where the kids area is. They have water sprays that are refreshing
Best place to hang out and be around plants from different biomes -- tropical, Mediterranean, desert, etc. They have rare plants as well. They often have exhibits indoors and outdoors, including a train exhibit every Christmas with a different theme every time. The exhibits DC monuments, memorials and buildings recreated entirely out of plant materials are also not to be missed.
Great museum! Picture yourself in a jungle and that's what the museum is like
Interesting and pretty plants. The garden is very clean too.
So we love the botanic garden and try to go probably once a season. Around christmas time they have the model train sets that are amazing. The outdoor garden is great in the spring and fall and the desert is great all year long! The kids enjoy the section with the carnivorous plants, especially the venus fly traps! They have the plant that only blooms only every couple years as well and that bloomed this summer.
It is patch of wild in the midst of busy city life, beautiful attraction.
No I am not into flowers or trees but you got to go see this place
I like this place but for me there is too much stuff inside and not enough outside, unless I am missing something. Still an interesting place especially when they have events outside.
Great place for a family visit year round. Call or plan ahead and they have a kids program that can be done as a family or just stop in and explore.
A beautiful little fountain park hidden outside of the Rayburn Office Building. It is across the street from the Botanical Gardens.
Wonderful place to spend an afternoon. After roaming the outdoor gardens, enjoy the variety of plants indoors. Fantastic any time of the year, but especially delightful during the holidays. If you have the energy, visit the Bartholdy Gardens directly across Independence Ave, also part of the Botanic Gardens.
Beautiful old style greenhouse with lots of plants from all around Americas.
Absolutely an oasis of calm and beauty in DC. The train display is up, so there are more visitors than usual, but still it holds wonders around every corner.
Great park, centrally located right next to Capital Hill. Free entry. Parking can be free on the weekend, but metro accessible. Indoor and outdoor exhibits. Sometimes live music also performed. Special events occur often, including for the holiday. Good for kids and adults. One could spend several hours visiting.
If you're looking for a place to cool down while walking the mall, this isn't the best spot. That said the variety of place species and the staff make it a nice experience. It's a good stop if you like visiting botanical gardens.
You can see plants from around the world all in one place
Old people enjoy. Saves you from scorching heat and it's free. Half an hour max.
Always a favorite spot when I visit DC. It has the major advantage of nature changing its canvas seasonally. A stones throw from the capital.
This is well worth the visit, there are a variety of different themed areas, including a prehistoric plants area which is fun for dinosaur enthusiasts. The gardens outside are also nice to walk around in and quite peaceful because not many people visit. Also a beautiful orchid collection.
Small but spectacular. Lot of great plants and nice set up. Pleasant walkthrough, lot of fragrant plants. Nice to visit when it very cold or hot outside. Climate controlled.
Beautiful plants. I loved the medicinal garden. Truly beautiful.
I enjoyed the spaciousness and diverse plant-life at the Botanic Gardens. It's beautiful and serene and simple, hosting many wonderful events each year. It's important that places like the Botanic Gardens can maintain the levels of excellence in quality resources and education and apply key changes in technology and agriculture.
I love it here.... its beautiful. My favorite place.
Lovely and tropically warm although many spaces were closed due to remodeling. But since it's free, you can't complain. You can complain about parking, because just like everything in DC, there is no dedicated lot, so you're on your own to find a lot. Worth the visit if you have the time, especially in DC weather when the arboretum isn't the best option for a couple of hours.
Beyond gorgeous. Such a nice adventure for a warm afternoon.
Absolutely gorgeous. Also there are many plants that produce familiar products and foods and it was very interesting to see these plants live.
Pretty but kind of small, I guess that couldn't be avoided in a city.
Great spot to get warm on a cool day! Lots of beautiful plant life to see from many regions of the world. Probably takes 15 mins to go through if you go fast but take your time and really enjoy all the different flowers!
Nice indoor and outdoor displays right in the heart of D.C.. Great price too. Free.
Great place if you love flowers here are a few of my favorite ones
Very beautiful here. Didn t even like plants they much but still very nice to walk through
Amazing place. Good collection of plants, different expositions like rare plants, dessert plants, tropical plants. I loved this place.
Beautiful small Park, great place to read a book or hanging out with a close friend.
Awesome place to see real different types of forests
Quietly one of the best stops along the mall. The sheer number of species is incredible and the organization of the garden is such that you can feel as though you are traveling to various areas around the world. Be sure to stop hear - especially if you are a plant lover.
Enjoyed the plants and such, even though I'm not a huge plant person.
It is worth visiting. The holidays exhibition is beautiful with models of Washington monuments.
We love going to the botanical gardens with our kids. Every December, they have train displays along with several miniature buildings made completely out of plants by artists, and it's always so cool to see. Weekends can get very busy, especially leading up to Christmas, but they stay open late on Tuesdays and Thursdays (so lower crowds), and have live music, so that's the best time to go. We also love walking through all of the sections of the gardens that recreate different environment and show off the plants from those environments, it's so cool to walk from a desert to a rainforest.
Nice seasonal decorations, well worth the time to visit.
My wife loved the orchids and my 4 year old loved the children's garden
Lovely gardens and amazing conservatory. Interesting plants for novice and avid plant fans alike. And it's free!
Customer service is over the top. Lana, thank you so much last week by taking the time to direct me "out of the 5pm commuter traffic jungle" north to PA when I found myself in the mixing bowl unintentionally. I'll be back soon because you are a breath of fresh air.

To quote another review that might have been a US senator, "it's a great escape".
Gorgeous, a plenty of outdoor quiet seating for a moment of reflection
Omman is amazing nature very beautiful place I recommend to spend as a family all kinds of fruit trees plants and finally come to know
It's beautiful! They have different sections for different types of trees and plants. There are cocoa tree, coffee Bean tree, and so many other varieties. Separate small section for orchid and medicinal plants. All those are indoor. There's an outdoor section where you can see flowers.
