Perhaps the most unpleasant experience. My wife and I bid on an evening stay and a chefs tasting dinner at a silent auction. We were excited to learn that we won. We were interested in joining a club similar to this in Chicago as we live close to the Loop. The excitement quickly faded upon arrival.

Thinking that it would be a nice stay during Spring Break we brought out 3rd grade daughter to enjoy the pool. When we got up to the pool, a member quickly greeted us and informed us that it was a lap pool only. The fun did not last for her as she swam 15 laps and was unable to jump in and splash a little.

Next, we went to dinner in the Wigwam Room. Atmosphere was pleasant and appeared to have been recently remodeled. Service was spot on and friendly. The cauliflower appetizer and Braised Short Ribs were delicious. Our daughter had a wedge salad and a hamburger. A little surprised when we received the bill about the cost of our daughters dinner. $30 for a hamburger and $10 for a salad and another $10 for dessert. When I brought the cost to the attention of the server. He indicated that we did order off the childrens menu. We were never provided a children's menu.

We returned to the room. We did not sleep much as the back of the room is next to the elevator. We heard the inside mechanics of the elevator go up and down through out the night. It sounded like a scraping sound with the pulleys and cables moving up and down. In addition the toilet would randomly run through out the evening.

Lastly at 6 am the neighbors alarm clock went off for 30 minutes. No one was in the room. It just went off endlessly. Walls are thin.

Less than stellar experience. Will not be joining.

Excellent breakfast buffet! The gym was good but split up between 2 floors. The staff let me bring a kettlebell from one area to another so I could do my HIIT workout. Service is great and the hotel is spectacular. However, there is a dress code, just a fair warning.

This is a gorgeous venue. I visited the Union League Club for an international business forum and networking event. The fireplace, artwork, seating, cavernous size...all made it into a high-class affair!

Professionalism off the charts. I attended an event and the level of elegance and taste not to mention the warmth of all the employees was a breath of fresh air. If I could recommend more than 5 stars I would.

If you would like to travel back in time to the 1920s take a tour of the place. We were there for an event. The decor is out of the past. Ask if they have a brochure with the history of the club. As the name implies it has to do with the union movement. You might search on Google if you are interested.

My friend who is a member at Union League Club in Chicago took me here for lunch. After he gave me a tour of the place and told me about the history of the Club, he showed me one of the best art aquisitions the club has made; a 1872 Claude Monet entitled Pommiers en fleurs (Apple Trees in Blossom). This was a great experience and I must say the lunch here was good and de service impeccable.

Wonderful building. Beautifully appointed banquet facilities. Great collection of art. Each room has old school charm. Marble and mahogany throughout. Nice restaurants and pubs. Afternoon tea service. Lovely hotel rooms. Best of all - the ultimate in customer service.

I typically do not give negative reviews as I try to handle customer service issues offline as I did this one. However, sad to say this establishment does not care about their customers only their old school image. Including wanting anyone attending to not wear jeans even with a suit jacket and telling speakers of the conference to remove their vests because they needed to see the collar on the button up shirts.
Everything here is very much superficial. This place is looks great in the very much edited club photos (and their house keeping staff is very nice) but the rooms have not been updated since the 80's! Faded sunken in furniture, faded bed spreads, smelly rooms, wifi didn't work in room, it took 5 calls to order room service (but it was good) and very little outlets plus no refrigerators or microwaves in rooms. All of the money is being spent on branded bathroom hand towels that are thrown away and mouthwash cups in the bathroom with one brush for all the guests to share in their public bathroom. (Yuck)
But I can look beyond their bureaucratic outdated ways had it been that they did not charge me for a night I did not reserve. I stayed here two nights but was charged for three last month. I did however call in to inquire about the charged third night and was told that it was sold out so I booked with another local hotel my first night and then arrived for my scheduled nights as planned. (Before this since I didn't receive any confirmation # or email - I called in a second time just to make sure i was booked and again I was told the same 2 nights) when I checked in -I was then told I needed to wait 20 mins as a room was not available. Once I checked in I was informed that they did indeed have me booked for 4 nights not 2! I was confused and told the front desk what happened and showed my receipt of the other hotel stay. Asking them- why would I pay for another room and travel in Chicago had I been able to stay here where I was speaking?? The front desk apologized and I went to my room. When I checked out I was not told I'd be charged for the 3 night until I was handed my receipt. I inquired about the charge and it was a "sorry about your luck- you should've received an email" response. I handed the front desk clerk my phone email and asked her to search my email for their handle to show I indeed did not have an email from them. They confirmed I did not but also had the spelling of my name completely wrong. Ok, simple mistake and should of been handle pretty easy, right? No, still they wouldn't budge.
Plus it was my birthday- and I didn't have time to wait there as I was traveling back 5 hours to celebrate what was left of the day with my family. At this point was very upset that I was basically being called a liar so I messaged into this social media channel privately on the 28th of April - I was told they'd clear it up- I messaged again on May 1st after receiving 3 charges now!! $800+ for the 4 nights - one for $300 for the two and then $200 for the one night. All without my consent or knowledge.
I was responded back to within 2 days by 4 of their team members CC'd in and again saying the same thing that it's what their system showed so sorry about my luck. No one wanted to take the high road.

I tried to reason with them and nothing. They care more about keeping $200 than solving a customer issue. So thank goodness for social media so I can strongly warn anyone else about this issue. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have had this problem here being that all of their booking is in papers not online so it's your word against theirs. No matter how much your evidence against them it's "sorry about your luck"
Again, I tried to resolve this privately but they do not care. Sad to see this kind of thing stills goes on In 2017!!

I'm not sure how I feel about the business dress code below the 10th floor rule, but otherwise it's a charming old hotel. The room I had was nice and spacious with good amenities (although the view was of a government building where people could defensively look in if my blinds weren't closed). The staff were both courteous and polite.
I had a meeting at their 6th floor restaurant. The buffet was great and had someone to guide you through all of the items. Good hotel for the traveling business person, but maybe not the tourist.

A beautiful wedding in their beautiful halls. The paintings look like originals. Who would expect to find a fireplace in the fifth floor? The steak was thick and juicy, so good. While we were dancing, they brought out cute little shakes and treats, all spectacular.
