The Union Chapel is a beautiful venue for live entertainment with fantastic acoustics, architecture and atmosphere. We saw the Backyard Cinema screening of Baz luhrmann s 1996 film Romeo & Juliet starring a very young Leonardo DiCaprio and Clare Danes. The Some Voices Choir performed exquisite renditions from the movies soundtrack including: Young Hearts, Everybody s Free and Kissing You, both pre and post film screening. For those few uninformed individuals who complain that you can only consume alcohol in the bar and not The Union Chapel: this is because it still serves as a church with a regular Sunday service.

Such a great venue, been a couple of times now. Perfect example of a community multi use venue and church. I'm not religious! Good size for atmosphere and sound and actually being close to the artist. Stones throw from highbury and Islington Station and the brilliant amenities of Upper Street.

Lovely setting to watch my daughter take part in a choir performance. Had a lovely time and should be going again soon. Was sat near the front and had a perfect view but next time hope to go to upstairs section and take it all in with the beautiful stained glass as part of the view.

Great venue. I went to see George Ezra last week and it was the best gig I have been to this year. I love the quirky venue and sitting in the church pews really adds to the experience. We had to queue for about 30 mins outside but that's no big deal and I would rather go somewhere like this than a huge arena. Cute little tuck shop to get your hot drinks and snacks. Go if you get the chance.

Fabulous acoustics, not many people have heard of this place , less been here!
This is a working church with several social programs for the homeless
amongst others.
The organ is hidden away as the architect, Cubitt, thought it might be distracting.

This is a church which is also a major music venue. The upsides are an atmospheric setting and good acoustics. The main downside is hard wooden pews with no reservations - some people queue for a long time to be at the front. I'd recommend making a meal reservation - you get into the bar early and can then bag a seat when the doors open, you can just leave a coat or bag and go back to the bar. The food isn't spectacular but it's fine.

The missus and myself decided to visit London this week from the North West and there was a gig being played here. One of my favourite artists, Andrew McMahon was playing a solo show - just him and his piano.

I've never been to a church or chapel solely for live music. I was not disappointed in the slightest. We were sat on the second floor and we got a wonderful view of the stage and the sound rivaled every venue I've ever visited. As it got darker (the gig was in late May), it was like the music swallowed all daylight around the chapel, leaving the performer to emit his own light.

All in all an unforgettable and magical experience. Much like church-goers, a sense of peace stirred amongst the onlookers as we all shared the same emotions.

Superb acoustics in this chapel which hosts many concerts of all kinds in addition to traditional religious services! Stained glass lighting plays a nice part in the beauty of the shows and the bar upstairs, always appreciable! A few steps from the metro and bus stations, this place is perfectly served.

Pretty darned uncomfortable if you are sitting in those seats for any length of time. You can't take alcoholic drinks from the bar into the main hall. Bit grubby but still an impressive hall architecturally.

Really enjoyed the Union Chapel. It had a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The only negative thing I would say about the place is it felt like going on holiday to a popular German resort, where people got in early and reserved their seats by leaving their coats on them.

The Union Chapel cannot be out done when it comes to bringing in top drawer entertainment. Everyone who goes is in awe of the building and its special atmosphere. I love this venue and few do as much for the needy and homeless as they do here. If you have never been to a performance here, then put it on your bucket list now.

The Grade I-listed gothic masterpiece, completed in 1877, is still used as a working church.
Great acoustics better than many modern, purpose-built venues. It hosts acoustic nights and occasional jazz shows.

Fabulous venue for acoustic style bands as well as other events, notably the annual Comedy for Depression gig in May.

The wooden benches can be a bit sore if you have a skinny backside and there is a no alcohol policy in the main church area but there is a bar upstairs. You can however have soft drinks and mugs of tea/coffee.

Fantastic venue, literally take a pew, sit wherever you want, get a drink in the bar, a light meal and watch quality acts right in front of you in a magnificent chapel setting. 1 min from Highbury & Islington station and right by lots of bars and restaurants. Watched the Illegal Eagles tonight, truly wonderful performance enhanced by a symphony of 10 great musicians - fantastic night. We often visit Union Chapel and it never disappoints. Funds go to the homeless so all in a great cause. Great job all round.
