Little number of interesting courses, very much focused on swiss system, english courses full of other international students who had a very hard time with english, living costs are really expensive and it is extremely hard to find a room in geneva.

Most bars close around midnight, geneva is not a place for partying but it is safe, public transportation is good in the center but really can let you down on the outskirts and at night, taxis are very expensive so you better not miss the last bus more than once a month.

University less and less democratic. The rector - under pressure from the different groups - lets express himself (not to say disturb) in the halls of the different buildings of the ideologues without letting detractors do the same. It feels frankly oppressed and I feel uneasy (and for having discussed it, comrades too) to undergo ideological, not societal, pressures on respect etc. but clearly political. They do not leave people promising respect between individuals but rather the ascent of a political group with ideas that are sometimes good, sometimes harmful, but to which detractors are not welcome. I am talking about neo-feminists LGBTQ + and so on, being a feminist myself I feel all the more uncomfortable. If the self-righteous ideology was communist, would the authorities allow communist groups to come to express themselves and especially propaganda without letting libertarian -express come to express themselves? In short, all this to say that the future of the University worries me because the authorities seem to exceed by the symbolic and social pressure exerted by certain totally political and politicized groups which have nothing to do in common places of life.
I would say the same with certain courses which are very clearly taking advantage of a kind of social-liberalism and far from what is expected by people by their figure of authority act as intellectual references for students. This makes me all the more uncomfortable since I myself was a sort of centrist left social-liberal Europeanist before entering this university because I have the impression to attend a simulacrum of democracy. Passing the Mail gates I feel far from the Greek agoras ..
NB Perhaps it is not the responsibility of the rector, who is by the way someone sympathetic, frankly competent and perspiring of humanity towards his "students", but ignoring the university hierarchical cogs if this it is only that it is the highest placed, it is it named.

University of excellence Switzerland. Historical and modern at the same time, it proposes to follow numerous online courses certifying thanks to its partnership with the platform Coursera. This is how I was able to remotely and at my own pace follow a course on the financial markets.

Mainly on the city of Geneva, Switzerland. It is a wonderful city with a well developed transport system, many international institutions, and close to France. The people are friendly, mainly secular and accommodative to many nationals from all over the world. There is no political noise and the crime rate is very low.

A world-renowned competence that no longer needs to be proven.
Quality teachers and lessons, a very wide choice of courses, adapted and easily accessible online. Modern building.
Serious and very efficient administrative service. Without doubt one of the best universities in Europe.

I'm doing my year abroad here studying translation and overall the quality of teaching is very impressive, however they don't seem to be overly considerate of their students when it comes to term dates. For example, the Autumn term finished on 23rd December, meaning that a lot of people chose to stay in Switzerland rather than go home for Christmas as it was too far to travel so close to the big day. Then, they placed the exam period separate to the semester, so that students must fly back to Geneva for 10 days before having a month off before the start of spring term - making their year abroad incredibly expensive! For an institution with such a high number of international students, Unige is far from considerate.
