It was few years ago. After some research and checking reviews I visited here to check my old ankle injury that started opening up again. Before seeing Dr Joshua N. Tennant, there was jr Dr i guess suggested to take about 6 X-rays. Dr Joshua examined and said no issues. but i had the issue that was visible physical and can compare with another ankle. had hard time walking too. For some reason they were not ready to look my ankle closely and only depending on x-rays. suggested to take CT scan or similar to get more details. Dr was engaging me talking in some other general stuff and there are other people around him, but not focused or spent time on my issue. And the staff didn't pass important insurance related information to doctor and end up getting more bill. Overall felt commercial place.

Staff was very rude! Very very rough when they put my cast on! And the doctor had no bedside manner whatsoever!! He acted like it was nothing and I broke my ankle in 4 places! They sent me home and told me to take Motrin and Tylenol.

I spent 18 months driving 4hours each way to the orthopedic department of UNC Chapel Hill. My clearances were completed and Knee Replacement surgery was to be scheduled when I was told my doctor was leaving. Dr Olcott was complaining of being over worked and I was told I had to wait months to see the new hire Dr Bracey. Neither Dr wanted to take my case because I had charity care. Dr Bracey went as far as claiming I was allergic to metal in my medical records to avoid my case. The Orthopedic department as a whole is run on greed and not the care of the Patients. Patient relations brought this mater to the Chairman of the Department and no Dr would see the charity case. This hospital accepts government grant money and refused to do surgery after granting the patient 18 months of charity care. My knee surgery was scheduled within 20 minutes of seeing a real surgeon at a reputable orthopedic practice. Stay away from UNC Chapel Hill

I have had rheumatoid arthritis for 14 years, and during the last ten or so I have had 4 experiences with UNC orthopaedics department, 2 joints fused, a multiple fracture and now my right hand almost completely rebuilt, all very professionally done and with excellent results. I have every confidence in them: my surgeon, Dr. Bynum, is extremely skilled and very pleasant to deal with. Having my thumb fused was a life-changer and when I show people my scars, they have to look for them! Now, he has given me back the use of my dominant hand. After 3 weeks, it is already more usable than before. My fingers are amazingly straight! The supporting staff are pleasant and attentive and their occupational therapist, Sue Myers, really knows her stuff and is competently guiding my recovery.

My father-in-law had a knee that has been bothering him since he was in Haiti long ago. After coming to UNC Orthopedics seeing a doctor, and getting some options. He was treated very good and giving some medications. He felt really good about the whole staff there. They way they took care of him. He brags about it like it's the best thing since life spread.

Dr. Ganesh Kamath has impressed us tremendously. He operated on our sixteen-year-old son's shoulder a couple of weeks ago. During his first appointment with our son, he explained the pros and cons of the surgery Matt needed. He talked us through the MRI results, shared the various options and outcomes, and patiently answered MANY questions from us and our son. When we decided to go forward with surgery, he made a point of making sure we all felt comfortable with the decision and was very open about what to expect soon afterward and in the coming months. The best part is that our son loved talking with him. The day after his surgery, he told his friend and twin brother, "My doctor is really 'hype.' Dad, don't you think he was 'hype'? He seems like he knows so much." My husband responded, "Yes, and he's great because he is confident without being arrogant." This is the real conversation that took place. Anyway, we are grateful for Dr. Kamath's amazing "bedside manor" both before, during, and after Matt's surgery.

Great doctors, but prepare to be gouged on all fees. If you are making an appointment, ask if they will want x-rays, and if the answer is yes, shop around and get them somewhere else. 4 views of my knee at UNC Orthopedic ACC were billed at $543 + $34 more to read them. Even after insurance, my portion was $385. I could have had the same xrays taken nearby for under $100. Beware when they escort you to the xray room. They're going to be deep in your pockets.

I have had tremendous experiences with UNC healthcare as a whole, but UNC orthopaedics is a nightmare. The employees here genuinely act like they don t care about you, and seem too busy gossiping to tend to their patients. I was offered no help upon entering the building, and when they finally got to me, multiple employees disregarded me and were rude while I was in excruciating pain. This place needs to be investigated, and hire a brand new set of employees. Truly sickening.
