I spent 18 months driving 4hours each way to the orthopedic department of UNC Chapel Hill. My clearances were completed and Knee Replacement surgery was to be scheduled when I was told my doctor was leaving. Dr Olcott was complaining of being over worked and I was told I had to wait months to see the new hire Dr Bracey. Neither Dr wanted to take my case because I had charity care. Dr Bracey went as far as claiming I was allergic to metal in my medical records to avoid my case. The Orthopedic department as a whole is run on greed and not the care of the Patients. Patient relations brought this mater to the Chairman of the Department and no Dr would see the charity case. This hospital accepts government grant money and refused to do surgery after granting the patient 18 months of charity care. My knee surgery was scheduled within 20 minutes of seeing a real surgeon at a reputable orthopedic practice. Stay away from UNC Chapel Hill
