University Medical Center of El Paso is a true treasure in the far west Texas & southern New Mexico region. I ve seen the hospital evolve over the years from a poor county hospital to a tertiary regional academic medical center providing cutting-edge technology. More importantly, what makes UMC so great is the amazing people that work there. They really care about their patients. It is not a job to them but a vocation They took outstanding care of me during my recent stay. I felt very safe and welcomed. Very reassuring. THANKS for all you did for me.

What a difference time makes. Growing up in El Paso, University Medical Center was Thomason. When you went to Thomason, expect to be there forever with a less than enthused staff. I visited my family in El Paso two weeks ago as my dad was having surgery as he is battling pancreatic cancer. His doctor wanted to do the surgery at University Medical because they are better equipped. I was skeptical... until I went inside and spent some time there. Amazing staff... AND facility. Beautifully remodeled. SICU staff is exceptional. Happy to report dad is doing great but has a battle with chemo ahead. Thank you UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER

The parking can be a bit tricky but other than that the staff is really nice, and the facility itself is really beautiful. I've had to go to the ICU several different times for different family emergencies and the staff from the nurses, doctors, front desk, EVERYONE was compassionate, helpful, and caring. I would definitely recommend this hospital.

It was a terrible experience the 'Nurse Practioner' Jaqueline McCoy was incredibly rude and made biased comments. I went in for really bad sore throat, congested nose, and headaches. She stepped in telling that I have nothing at all and asked if I have anxiety attacks. I told her I don't. She asked if I was sure. I told her that I'm WORRIED about my health because another doctor from a UMC clinic told me to get x-ray and wanted to rule out pneumonia. She said that they were thinking of giving me something to relax and gave me the name of it. My boyfriend was there all shocked with the 'nurse's' attitude. She asked me questions. I answered by explaining everything. She interrupted by saying I should give a yes or no answer. I answered like she asked. She just looked at my throat and said I was completely clear. Even, when my head was killing me and weighed a ton. She said I have a viral infection... didn't said which one. She made a comment I couldn't understand because she was saying it all fast and stormed off the room. I just got ibuprofen and that's it. I woke up today and I'm as sick as yesterday. Horrid experience.

Rude folks pick up the phones here, they re not really there to assist besides your usual yes or no, I just work here answer. These people are so tired of working here you are able to tell immediately by their tone of voice. They lack patient skills and phone skills. Many here treat you very indifferently knowing you are receiving city, state, or andy federal funds.
