I have had nothing but wonderful people helping me. If I have had a problem all I have to do is get on the phone and there is someone there. I don't have to wait for a week for someone to get back to me and I hope that doesn't happen in the future. I am very excited to start my classes on Monday.
Thank you for your help.

My fiance didnt want to leave a review so I'll do ...

My fiance didnt want to leave a review so I'll do it for her. She has been waiting months for a 3500 dollar check that she needed for schooling. The school has been paid but keep giving her the run around on a check that was only supposed to take 2 weeks to recieve. So after her 3500 dollar check she was to recieve a 1300 dollar check wich made it no problem along with everything else they ever send her. And after complaining to the school after the check was 2 weeks late they issued a 2nd check. Well that never showed up so she called back 3 weeks after that was supposed to show up and asked to speak to the financial aid manager he said he would look into it and get back to her. So he calls back 2 days later and says I see no one has cashed either of those 2 checks and says let me cancel them and send a 3rd . Well it's been a month and still no check. I feel like someone there is doing something fraudulent with her funds. I dont think they personally ever sent out the 3500 dollars at all. Why would everything else they send us make it no problem . But they cant manage to send us a check 3 times. She is done with them and will be transfering schools. Hopefully no one else will get burned by them . From what I've read this school is garbage.

I did the Basic X-ray Technician course at this school. I never found a job with the certification and I still owe my loan. I was rip off I need a refund so that I can pay off my student loan. Don't waste your time at this school. Go to local colleges that charge a lot less and the credits are transferable to all colleges and universities.

When I started I loved UMA and now it is like the boyfriend you have gotten to know better. You love them but know they snore, or sometimes you feel frustrated. Yes they are great at pumping you up to enroll, but after the first 6 weeks they kind of leave you lonely for attention. At first I had very interactive instructors, but as time has gone by my advisors and instructors are way more hands off. I am glad I signed up for UMA for billing and coding, just do not know if I should have pushed on to the associates degree, because I do not think it makes that big of a difference in the end. (At Least it has not so far) I wanted to change my life and I did, UMA was very easy to enroll, but they need to know that you feel like cattle being herded to the pin, all answers are enroll. In reality there were several questions that were answered with untruths, which I was able to find out after I enrolled. Not lied to but not all the information given.(improvement needed in this area) Knowing all I know I still would have signed up for this program because I had already made that decision before I called.

If someone wants to get into billing they need to know 1) to volunteer in an office 2) check out requirements for billing in your area 3) you have to think of enrollment as an investment in you. UMA has great labs and videos for almost every subject, they can help you freshen up on powerpoint and excel or introduce you to it for the first time, and really give you an understanding of the systems. UMA is always there when you want to study and they have so many great outsources for information. The roadmaps are great at keeping you on track and it is a reminder of what is next. Breaking it down helps you fit it into your schedule, and it makes the hills seem less like mountains. I have worked hard for this degree and UMA is as excited about my grade average as I am, and are really trying to help me get into a position in an office doing what I have been trained to do. The jobs dept is helping get my information out there to offices I do not even know about, so it really opens up possibilities. It is not a walk in the park but no program is it takes hard work and determination, but UMA is as determined as I am. I am proud to say I went to UMA, and look forward to what doors this program has opened up for my life.

If I could give less than one star I would. I inquired to get some information from them. I felt like it was a job interview than anything when I am trying to enroll. As soon as I said I just wanted information and I am keeping my options open, the rep hung up on me. Tried to push me to financial aid from the get go. No thanks!

I don't like.being hung up on when I am trying to inquire about service or anything. Won't be going there !

I have to be honest. Although, UMA is expensive than most schools , they have been very supportive through out my time there. I graduated in 2014 with my medical clinical assistant certificate and became certified right after. I was also nomimated for Vice President of their medical club. We called the medical club , "Caring Hands". I wasn't able to contribute as much as i wanted but i helped a long with others to get the club started. I also received great support from their career team with finding employment. My first job i landed out of college was because of UMA. If you're not communicating with the career team on a consistent basis then it easy to get left behind. I recommend that you be proactive in your job search as well. I am currently in school for my degree in Healthcare Management. I am in my last class and will ne graduating in 2 weeks. I reccommend this school to anyone looking for a career in the medical field.

Ultimate Medical Academy Tampa is the BEST school ...

Ultimate Medical Academy Tampa is the BEST school with the most amazing teachers and staff. Everyone there really cares about the students and they work with you to help you succeed in every way possible. I would HIGHLY recommend this school to anyone looking to begin their journey on a career path in the medical field. I am a recent graduate: diploma and certifications - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant/Certified Phlebotomy Technician. The ladies in the externship department listened to what field I really wanted to work in and they found me the best externship site ever. After my third day on the site, I felt like I already have a job lined up for me! Just remember, they can't make miracles happen alone...you do have to put the work in.

The school overall is adequate with regards to providing skills related to your field. At times teachers come and go. However, the ability to handle any inquiries regarding financing and job placement is less than what you would expect. If you are Unemployed or a VETERAN you will need to do your own homework to see if you qualify for any benefits If you want a qualified answer, I would suggest you get it directly from the Unemployment office or Veterans Affairs. As far as job placement opportunities you will need to do your homework there too. In other words, you can get your certification/degree but anything beyond that will be of your own doing not because UMA provides you the answers you need or information to help you further your employment opportunities. In other words, after you sign the loan papers you are on your own. I hope this assessment helps those trying to make a good decision when choosing a school for their education.

When I began my relationship with UMA, I was a newly single mom with two boys ages 2 and 3, working full time (all 3 shifts just to keep a job). I wanted to better myself for the sake of my kids, to be able to provide them with a better life, and to be able to work "normal" (or at least regular) hours so that my kids could have some stability and a routine. Their online program allowed me set my own schedule each week so that I didn't have to take any more time away from my boys, but was still able to get all of my work done. From the time I picked up the phone to request information to the time I found my new job, I have not had a more enjoyable, rewarding experience. Yes, it was hard, there were many sleepless nights and a lot of questioning whether I could do it. Every time I felt that I had taken on too much, the staff at UMA was there to build me back up and remind me that this was for my boys and would all be worth it. They were right! I have read the other less enjoyably experiences of some other students, and I am very sorry. I wish everyone could have had my experience because it was phenomenal. The people I worked with cared about me as a person, not a number or just another student, but as a mother, trying to do right by her kids and give them everything they need in this life, I can tell you that when I decide to go back for my Bachelor's I am definitely getting it through UMA! -Dora

Dont go here for Basic X-Ray!

Dont go here for Basic X-Ray!
They WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIND YOU A JOB IN THE FIELD !!!
The market right now is pretty bad for X-Ray techs, and forget about getting an x-ray job without experience.
The school is a total rip off.
all they want is to sign up as many students as they can . Them they just pass you in ansd out of the classes.
most of the teachers there are a joke. The teacher I had used to give us all of the answers to the tests the day before we would take the tests.
You wont really learn much until you get to an extern site, but they will of course not hire you . The physicans offices know that UMA is a joke !
I am 2 years out from graduating and have been looking very hard for a job and all I have donr so faris gotten a seasonal job at an Urgent Care center that I had to find on my own. the job placment there totally sucks !

In the being I loved Ultimate Medical Academy. Customer service or calling to the school sucks, one person tell you one thing & someone else say something different. Financial aid will tell you anything to get you off the phone. Your advisor will ditch you if any hardships come your way. I LOVE ALL MY INSTRUCTORS & LEARNING ADVISOR FOR BEING SO UNDERSTAND, CARING, AND BEING IN ME!!

Pushed for me to get started without giving any actual information about the school, programs, or cost. Just kept saying what would be keeping me from starting in 2 weeks, and why cant I commit. I got pushed around to multiple different people after which I was told I was getting general college resources and eventually I just got transferred to the Ultimate Medical Academy. Shady practices into a forced situation, and then the audacity to be so incredibly rude during every step of the process. Yes, I could of just hung up at anytime, but they just kept pushing that the next person would give more information, and I genuinely wanted to hear them out. But my patience wore then when I got 8 phone calls throughout the rest of the day all from different numbers all calling from the Ultimate Medical Academy basically starting the process over again. This is a very clear bait and switch operation praying on those who don't know any better. Never actually got the information, nor do I want it now, they just want money but don't want to give their time.

I went to UMA online, and even though I live in NC, let me count the ways that I have enjoyed going to their school! They are very helpful, eager to please their students, even when you cannot please 100% of the students 100% of the time, they do their best and they outshine even high school guidance counselors..
At times, it is very frustrating on both sides when things don't go as planned, but they stay with you through the end, no matter what.
Are they eager to get you back for another session? Yes, they are, but again, it's not due to what they can grab out of your pocketbook, but because they realize how excellent they really are at what they do, which is educate people! I strongly suggest you go through their program, whatever you choose, you will get the best education money can buy. Will you land your dream job? They will do their best to make your dreams come true, and stay with you until it happens..

I like UMA. The financial aid departemnt helped me immediately. My classes are not too hard and dont demand too much of my time. I am a full time online student. My teaches keep in contact with me, my grades are good and I am all around satisfied. I got my extra funds check on time. I feel that if you do your part as a student, then everything will go smooth. You can't expect them to give you education and find you a job. That's not their job. You're grown do what your homework in school and in life and stop making excuses for yourself.

Well, not only am I a student, but also an ex-employee. I busted my ass to enroll 25 students a month and start 10 of them. I had been there less than 3 months, was less than 5 days away from making perm, and Imani( who i commonly refer to as Hitler) called me in her office and told me I don't start enough students and I wouldnt continue there. I had started the MOST out of my 40 person team just 2 days before this. I loveddddddd my job, what i did, who I worked with, etc.... but that DOA should be fired immediately. Not cause she fired me, but because of the mental abuse that poor team is continuously enduring on a daily basis. I miss you #TeamMani MO MANI MO MANI MOOOOOOOO! <3

This has been the all time Best of the Best school for me. I am graduating with honors, thanks to the support of the instructors and advisers that I have had. The last 2 months has had me in the hospital twice, both times I found the support that I needed to help me get better so that I could go on to finish. I will continue with Ultimate Medical Academy for at least 2 more courses, that I want degrees in. Thank you for not giving up on me, when I was ready to give up on myself. Your the BEST of the BEST!!!!!!!!!!

This school will put you 20k into debt and when you leave, expect for you to pay that back with a $10 an hour job they find for you off of Craigslist. If you put your efforts into a community college, you can get a better education at a third of the cost to you. Don't let this school be a bandaid or quick fix, stay ambitious and motivated and take that to a college that is worth the effort.

Well after reading some of these reviews I feel like I should give my review of UMA. I absolutely love this school. I have even recommended it to my best friend who was looking to get a higher education in the medical field. Before selecting UMA I did lots of research before I decided. I had also talked to many other schools too. I am a veteran and they worked great with me getting all my paperwork in order for my benefits. I first took my diploma course for Medical Billing and Coding back in June of 2014 I graduated with honors. Then I decided to come back in September of 2015 for my Associates Degree in Medical Billing and Coding. I have managed to stay on the deans list and will graduating with honors this year in March 2016. I have worked really hard to maintain my grades. When I finished my diploma course the career services department was all about finding me a job. I wanted to take the summer off since I knew I would be coming back in the fall for my degree. I have a 3 year old and 2 year old and wanted to spend the summer with them. So anyone who says that you cant find a job by using career services I find that hard to believe. They called me several times a week with new jobs and opportunities, but I just wasn't ready to start work since I was going to be going back to school. I feel that because I'm doing so well my advisor feels like he doesn't need to call as often, which is fine. I usually have no questions about the course. This is a great school and do their best in getting you ready for your career in the healthcare field. They do mock interviews give you professionally done resumes and are there to help you with anything you might need while in school. Everyone will have their own experiences with the school, but remember you are paying for this education give it everything you got and work hard.

I made the mistake of putting down my phone number while requesting information regarding a course offered at UMA. They literally called me 4 times within a time frame of 6 hours and each time someone different called and pitched me the same talk about choosing UMA and taking their course. The third caller actually told me they can't call the same number more than 3 times in a day because their system doesn't allow it. So for starters, they seem utterly desperate to make money off of me by serial calling me in a span of 6 hours and then I get lied to. Hmmm.

I absolutely love UMA!!! I began my journey with UMA on June 16th, 2014 for a ten month program as a Medical Office and Billing Specialist. Since I joined, UMA Staff has been excellent. The instructors are understanding and work with you during difficult times because they want you to succeed. I graduate on April 5th, 2015 and I am super excited to start my career. I want to thank UMA for giving me the opportunity of brightening my families future.

Went to this school in 2014. The instructors really just gave work so that it looked like they were teaching. Passed mock certification and became a Certified MEDICAL CLINICAL LAB ASSISTANT. Went to the school to update my resume, do mock interviews, and any other information I may need to succeed in the medical field only to constantly be told no. Now I have loans that are due, and my time wasted. I would not recommend this school to anybody.

School overall is a good school, just found out that financial aid office is a damn joke and now I will be waiting another 4-6 weeks to get a compatible computer for my classes. At first it went all well (of course) and they will tell you that after your loans are already paid for at the end of 15 weeks you may be eligible to recieve your extra funds. Well there is no extra funds and I will have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to "recieve my extra funds" which in fact were not extra otherwise I wouldn't have to apply for another loan. Its simple, they lied and I am positive I am not the only one they lied to. I am not very pleased with UMA right now ( or have been in a while) and I do regret choosing this school. The lady that set me up through this school lied as well, said that because it is online classes that I will only have to log on about twice a week which could be true if your expecting to recieve bad grades, no you need to log on at least 4-6 times a week just to pass. Oh and the instructor that I am currently dealing with only has clinical experience, how does that even make sense. I personally like professors to have a higher degree than myself. After reading other posts I will not let UMA help me get a job because yes half of the staff doesn't know what they are talking about, they are complete ding-dongs!! I would highly suggest to choose a different school, they over charge for simple classes and then you'll get a retard for an instructor that doesn't have a college degree to even know what she is teaching and if she is teaching it correctly, you'd be better off going to a technicial institution. Good luck, don't make the same mistake I did.

I attend UMA for my Medical Admin Assistant certification, and my Associate in Science in health sciences. I just completed my classes for my certification, and I could not be happier. I loved the classes, they kept me challenged the entire time. I attend online, and I will say, if you don't have the determination to do it and follow through with it, you won't make it. I have experience with online classes from back when I was in high school, so I was used to the system and the time requirements. My adviser, Chris K., was excellent. When I did feel like giving up and I didn't care anymore, he really helped me a lot and helped me get into the tutoring sessions so I could really understand the coding classes. I honestly don't think I would've done as good as I did if he wasn't such a great adviser. I've had a great time with UMA, and I'm looking forward to finishing my last few classes to get my associate's degree.

I am a 2 year UMA alumni. I really enjoyed my time at UMA. A lot of people say that their program felt like it fizzled out, I did not experience this. I took the cPhT program and it was aa complete success for me. I enjoyed my teachers. Toward the end, I did feel like they were a bit more hands off, but they were doing this on purpose because you will not have someone to hold your hand when you are in the work place.
Most people dropped out around mid term. The ending class was very small. But that is at no fault of the instructor, they always held every one accountable for their attendance and their grades.

Personally, I think that my program was a little over priced, because you can get your PhT license through a major retail employer, but I was able to get my National Cert, which makes me a Lead Tech instead of a normal tech, which pays more money. I also received more training than a tech that just gets licensed by a retail pharmacy, including compounding training, as well as clinicals and pharmacology.
Also, no retail pharmacy will ever offer me lifetime alumni services and they will never help me find better opportunities like UMA will. They will never offer me help job hunting. And they will never offer me support, and resume building services and advice.

I also want to note that my sister also attended UMA for Dent Tech. She loved the program, and is now working in a Dental office making pretty decent money, too.

In conclusion, I do not regret attending UMA. I enjoyed my time there, and I continue to utilize the services to this day, and I graduated in 2013.

Our career services team provides assistance with resume writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and more. We also maintain relationships with employers throughout Florida who are actively seeking qualified candidates like our graduates.

Accreditation

UMA is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). This accreditation ensures that our programs meet high standards of quality and excellence set forth by ABHES.

In addition to ABHES accreditation, many of our individual programs hold additional accreditations from organizations such as:

- Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
- American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

These accreditations demonstrate our commitment to providing high-quality education and training opportunities for all students who choose UMA as their educational partner.
