Best care I have had. Prior to going to oliveview I had gone to a private hospital I was very unhappy with the quality of care at the other hospital. Oliveview has such a high quality of care I had the best nurses, nursing attendants, and doctors

At the emergency room they are fast, efficient, and caring. From the start at security to when you exit at pharmacy. Keep up the good work guyz. :-D

Olive View is the BEST. I have had good experiences here. Yes..there is a long wait time in the ER. People need to understand that it is not first come first serve. It is an ER and a Triage basis. Once you do get in ..you are taken very well care of. They all are very thurough and very kind. The Doctors here are the Best of the Best! They ask alot of questions and they take their time. They are extremely knowledgable. They will even have other Doctors come in to evaluate you and give their professional opinion as well. They do not just rush thru your symptoms and give you antibiotics. They really do check everything. I have a high respect for all of these Doctors and Nurses and Medical Techs here! This is a GREAT Hospital and they are the Best! The staff is always respectful and give you the best treatment. People need to understand that the more honest information you tell them, the better they can help you. I have also seen alot of reviews about the homeless and cleanliness of the place. This is a hospital for people that have NO INSURAMCE and who have Medical and basically low cost or nor cost insurance coverage. Yes, there are times when there may be HOMELESS people here waiting to be evaluated in their 5150 unit. What people need to understand is that this Hospital has the BEST teams for the Psychiatric units and that is why there may be HOMELESS people here. It is because they are getting the treatment that they need. As far as the cleanliness of this Hospital, any time I have been here.. the ER, the Clinic areas, the Public Restroom areas.. all of the areas have been clean. The Hospital is fully equipped with cleaning and stocking crews ..and the only times I have seen for myself that the areas where not clean was only because of guests and people coming in and they have no cleanliness or respect for cleanliness and leave TRASH laying around or do not clean up after themselves. People also need to realize that when you get these services for very low cost and or for free, there may be more of a crowd and more people coming to get treated. You cant just come to a place and demand to be seen immediately. You have to be realistic in what you are demanding or expecting when it comes to the services of a County ran Hospital. Regardless of what others have said on their reviews, I have been to Olive View for several times thru the last 4 years and I can honest say this is by far the Best as far as the Doctors and Staff knowledge and care.

My husband was treated here when he was severely ill. He almost died. Many departments worked together without giving up until they found out what was wrong. We were there for a month and were treated extremely well. My husband had to be admitted 5 more times for a week for chemo treatments. Every time with excellent care.

My wife arrived with severe pain in her back at 2:35 pm ... at 7:00 pm she asked what happened because they did not attend to her ... the lady at the reception yelled at her and told her that she had already called her and that I had to register again and start again..my wife could not move from the pain for that ... they entered her and applied to the nurses who will help her tell a doctor..a young nurse told her to outside ... In short ... they treated her super badly ... my wife wouldn't stop crying ... they treated her at 3:20 am ..

It was nothing like I expected. I always heard bad things about this Hospital but its not. Staff was friendly and patient. Waiting time is like at any other hospital. Love they're disinfecting procedure . Makes me feel safe going there.

Pity service, we took my daughter-in-law with seven months of pregnancy with belly and back pains, I had 6 hours just supposedly did a urine test and they said it was nothing and to top it off the nurse k the office told her that she has they did not like that they were wasting time on all this, the doctor never came to see her, we took her and we went to Los Angeles to the presbytery hospital and the doctor admired because they had dispatched her with premature birth due to the negligence of this hospital we have days fighting with her and with the baby to recover in conclusion olive view is very bad they do not care about the health of people Just imagine sending home a woman with a 7 month pregnancy with threat of premature birth is the most I have seen aki in the United States, so he will go to this hospital think twice

Today, my son is being treated in the emergency room, for a critical health condition, and I can only say THANK YOU, God illuminate and bless the medical team, specialists, surgeons, nurses, technical and laboratory personnel; They are excellent human beings!

Would give this place a negative star if I could. Scheduled an appointment at 9 came in 45 minutes earlier and let the staff know I am present. It is now 10:02 I asked at 9:15 why I haven t been called in. Turns out one of the staff members did not register me. I saw 2 of the staff members on their phones. Very unprofessional. I'm getting real tired of this place.

This hospital is the worse hospital ever. I had to call the ambulance for my dad around 2am today and we asked them if they can take him to holy cross but they said they had to take him to olive view because it s closer. First of all, every other ambulance that have came to take my dad to the hospital always took him to holy cross so I don t know why they didn t this time. For the longest the nurse and the doctor didn t show up to check on my dad or give him anything to relieve the pain, they only asked for insurance information(guess that s all that they care about). When the doctor came he was asking my dad questions mainly and did an ultra sound and didn t come back after that. My mom asked the nurse if she can give my dad something for pain she said she would ask the doctor, which to my knowledge, she never even asked. She came to put the IV in my dad s arm and it was so painful for him and she did not care. She kept giving him attitude . I left to go use the restroom and I can hear him screaming in pain. Later on he got up and left because they were doing nothing and just being very rude. I don t recommend this hospital at all. I m 17years old and it pains me to see my dad in such unbearable pain. The fact that I have school tomorrow and I had to sit in the hospital this early in the morning just to watch the doctors and nurses do nothing to help my dad is ridiculous. I wonder how they would feel if they had someone they love in the hospital and nurses and doctors aren t caring for them nor do anything at all but waste their time and expect them to give them a big fat check.

(Doctors Care made me feel that I was in safe hands. First time ever ending up in Public Hospital)
I was very pleased with my experience at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. I can be a hard critic of emergency care places and the people employed by them. Combine that attitude with an innate crankiness when I m not feeling at all well and the result can be much less than pleasant. This time (My first time at Olive View-UCLA Emergency Room) was a world away from previous experiences at Private Facility. It was good to be treated with professionalism and care. When I say the Cheif of ward, along with team of Doctor's, Nurses and all the other employees of Olive View-UCLA Medical Center the Care made me feel that I was in safe hands and even made me smile when I left, then you can believe they are the best. I am truly grateful and won t get that awful feeling of dread the next time I get sick and am unable to see my own physician. I appreciated their follow-up and willingness to answer questions also. A big thank you to all of them.

Worst Emergency room ever. I waited almost 6 hours for a real emergency. I left after waiting 6 hours. Im so confused as to what this hospital considers as an emergency? I saw many people who had the cold or flu and they were seen in the ER. I needed immediate attention thats why I went here due to bleeding and being pregnant. Never risk your health going to this ER. Horrible experience and I don't recommend!

NEGATIVE RATING FOR DR.. Sunita Rajesh Garg...
Horrible people that are judgemental. I go to the emergency clinic once a month until I see my regular doctor which isn't for 2 more months. I see a different doc every month at olive view. The last one I saw named Dr. Sunita Rajesh Garg prescribed me abilify. I forgot to tell her I take xanax on some nights when I have insomnia which were prescribed from another doctor. I called the Olive view clinic to ask them if It was okay to take my regular nightly dose of xanax with abilify. Dr Sunita Garg would not get on the phone and she had someone tell me she does not agree with anyone taking xanax so she refused to answer my question. I told the nurse it was legally their responsibility to let people know if their was a drug interaction between two prescribed drugs. The woman on the phone then said, "well she didn't prescribe it to you so she does not have to answer." This is not the first time I have had this type of judgement passed from a Physciatrist there. I'm not surprised at all to read a man fell over and died there. Horrible service to people who need their help.

Thanks for letting me waste 7 hours for nothing, I felt worst waiting and waiting in the room for the doctor to come; say she's be back but never did. My poor mom was working all day and she had to stay up ALL night waiting with me. Never coming back here again. I can hear the nurses laughing and talking to each other like if they weren't working. Only one nurse was helpful and his name is daniel.

One star is way too much for this place. Was here with my mom for 12 hours because she lost feeling on her leg and felt intense pain on the other. She was barely able to walk and when she finally went in to see the doctor, both the doctor and nurse were super rude and hurt her leg even more then had the nerve to tell her that her pain wasn t real and that she was fine. My mom came out crying and I was so angered. As a person that works on the medical field I know how stressful it can be but to be such a crappy doctor and nurse is not an excuse. So unprofessional, I m very disappointed to see that people like that work here.

My sister was hospitalized at OVMC in October 2013...
My sister was hospitalized at OVMC in October 2013 with multiple myeloma. She has been going weekly for her chemotherapy. The doctors in the hematology department are amazing! Dr. Omkar Marathe is her doctor and he is one of the most caring doctors I have ever met--and I am a nurse, so I've known many of them. All the doctors who my sister has seen so far are not only extremely bright and knowledgeable, they are also caring. Once when Dr. Marathe was too busy with other patients to see my sister, another doctor walked in to see her. I immediately got worried because I thought he was not going to know about my sister's problems. I was very wrong. Dr. "K" (also in the hematology department) was so professional, knowledgeable, patient, and--above all--genuine and caring. Most of the nurses I've met are also very nice and efficient. It's true, we do wait a long time before being seen but once my sister is in the examining room, the doctors and nurses give all their attention to her. The Patient Financial Workers who helped her with her insurance were great and very understanding. One employee at the front desk of the outpatient department--a middle aged, tall, thin man with glasses--left me speechless when both my sister and I walked in to the hospital looking for the outpatient surgical department because my sister was scheduled for an endoscopy and he actually walked us to the front door of the department--it was not very close either! I wish I had gotten his name so I could mention him here. Having been a nurse for almost 30 years, I am well aware of the fears that patients have when they don't understand what is going on with their health and when they are afraid of being denied medical attention because of their legal status or because they do not have medical insurance. So far, all the staff at OVMC treat my sister with dignity and compassion. Sure, there will be negative reviews with horror stories but those are the rare exceptions, I think. My sister has a long way to recover but I am confident the staff at OVMC will be there to help her.

The staff and the drs are great....I understand we have the coronavirus in effect but still. If you have an appointment at 12 ok and they ask you to arrive 20 to 15 mins early and then they have you sit and wait for an hour to be seen. Why even make an appointment. This is not the only time this has happened. As much as I love this place and enjoy the staff the wait time is out of control. And I have no choice, but to come here and I understand because of my insurance I am stuck to keep waiting.

I used to always speak very highly of this hospital, until today... I was so upset and shocked to see how their E.R Doctor treated my 80yr old grandmother. I took her in because her feet had major discoloration and she had been in major pain for several days now. Being how she's a diabetic, this was very concerning... Well, the doctor comes in and asks us, what did we expect he do for her? He was very callous and unsympathetic... I will "not" take her nor anyone else there again. I must say though, their staff and nurses were very nice and helpful. :)

Absolutely love this place, they go above and beyond to getting me better. I cannot speak high enough for the staff that works there. People actually do care about other people and their well being. I thought that was a long lost quality in people. They have proved otherwise. Thank you so much.

Was here right after a car crash with suspicion of a concussion, waited from 5pm to TWO IN THE MORNING!!! Absolutely ridiculous wait times even for an emergency room. Prepare to spend an ENTIRE DAY waiting to even get called on. They give you ice packs like nurses at high schools.

Went to the Emergency Room in January twice because of chest and arm pains. They send me to do a stress test but I couldn't finish it. Then they told me to wait till early March. I called their complaint department and they said they would talk to the doctor who did the test on me. All he did was apologized and promised me a sooner appointment. It's almost late March and nobody has called me. I have been having these pains in my arm and chest on and off now. Rather not go back because the last thing I need to feel is suicidal from lack of services and false promises.
Go somewhere else if you don't have insurance. In the meantime I'm kinda just waiting to die from a heart attack at this point.

July 27 2012 we were in the Olive View hospital when they told Bev (my partner) she had terminal lung cancer. I held her in my arms lying on her bed crying. I had been sleeping on a chair every night in the freezing cold of the room .
The nurses came in later , told me I was not allowed to lie on the bed with her, told me I was not allowed to use her washroom ( I never did , I went down the hall in the disgusting , unkept public washrooms, I took video it was such a pig stye), that I was not allowed to get the nurses for her, she was to use the button that these nurses virtually never answered. So, if you like being treated by prejudice, angry , unresponsive staff, give it a try.
Olive View Pharmacy within the Hospital. I have never before in my life experienced such a bad system. The three to five hour wait making patients with cancer and serious illnesses stand in a hallway would be bad enough but its pharmacists change doctors prescriptions when ever they feel like it. This is the same public hospital that made me sit in the pharmacy for 5 hours before telling me they weren't going to fill my partners Beverly's prescription because she was taking too much and could become an addict ( in the 2 months before she died of terminal lung cancer). So I wrote the state board of Pharmacy , explained it and now they force pharmacists to check the prescription. Yes, that was me. I told you that I was not going to let you do that with other people and I meant it.

This is a 2017 update to my comments below. Still fantastic care. Nice caring people. I've been up there a few times and it's always good.
I have had just the best care here!. I was poor growing up and ws on medical. Back then the care seemed okay but just okay. I really felt like they believed they were doing us a favor by even seeing us sometimes. (not that we needed to be seen often or anything,) The doctors are not only great but the surrounding staff are kind and always have a smile for everyone. I've never seen a hospital run better. They staff have easy access to my records, they can always see where I'm at with appts, medications etc. Simply all around fantastic! I can't thank Olive View enough.

This hospital basically saved my life recently and I really could not have been treated better by any other medical staff.. these people are amazing.. one downside to the emergency room is that if you are attempting to be seen by a doctor and they decide that you are not in any urgent need for medical care, they have no problem leaving you to wait in the lobby for hours... And I really can not stress enough on this... HOURS! Like 16 to 20 hours, pretty much till you just say to hell with it and leave .. but if you are in absolute need and do end up getting taken care of and brought to the back and see the Dr.. they will absolutely fix your problem and best part of it all is that they will treat you as if you actually do mean something other than a paycheck.. they will treat you like a human being who deserves respect and shall be viewed without judgement.

At first i hated it cuz i had to wait forever to finally get seen by a doctor, once i got seen i was in a room getting checked, told about all my results n given pain killers. The nurses were amazing. So nice, caring, always with a smile n had smthing nice to say. They really do care about ur well being. All of these was in the ER room :). One i got to admitted to my room had great nurses at night during the day they sure luv to talk n disappear had to wait almost half a day so i can take a shower by myself :$.

called about a patient and no nurse can give me information about the patient. they kept transferring me to his room when he was not even there. He was in surgery and NO nurse had no knowledge of his whereabouts. It so disappointing that nurses care so little about the patients. If wondering if I was able to be given information, yes I was in his list of contacts.
Very disappointing.

Horrible medical center. I came in with open burns all over my leg. They told me they were not able to provide any service for me and then sent me home without any treatment. Not even some burn ointment. They still billed me $1,000 after the fact. Called their billing office to try and waive the cost or at least reduce it. They're employee Tabitha at the billing office was very unprofessional and rude when talking about my particular case. She sounded uneducated and started making judgmental comments at me instead of giving me options of what I can do.
Yes, I let some time pass before handling my situation, but it doesn't exclude the fact that the doctor and their employees wrongfully handled my case. I do not recommend coming here.
ONE LAST THING: One of the male nurses that I was waiting with started hitting on me and was persistently asking me if I could get food with him after my stay! (Keep in mind my leg was very much not treated and in much pain still!) I felt extremely uncomfortable and just wanted to leave at that point. UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF overall! I wish I said something about this way earlier, but I was 19 years old, naive, and blamed myself for what went on that day. Now that I'm older I feel that I should still post my experience so that anyone reading this knows what they are possibly going in for at Olive View-UCLA medical center.

Of all the county hospitals this is the most organized. Sure there is a long wait, but when you consider the amount of people that go through that hospital on any even day I feel they do a damn good job. And I got the best of care from my doctors.
