Fantastic education in most subjects, however both the student body and teachers make it very clear that conservatism of any kind is not welcome here. I'm quite liberal, and even I don't feel completely comfortable here. They make a big deal of how open they are to all kinds of people, but this is blatantly false. Again, the college does provide very good education, has a beautiful campus, and good food options nearby. It's just sad that not everyone is free to enjoy these things. I hate that I have to give this school only three stars because of the anti-free speech attitudes that are endorsed here.

Great university. My education there was enjoyable. The atmosphere and the people are part of my permanent memories of this place. The price of the school is more now than it was when I was an undergraduate, but event then I found it a challenge to afford my tuition and books for the classes. I met many great teachers, however and have overall felt enlightened by my experience. 4 out of 5 - Would attend again.

I lived in and around the berkeley area and although it may have some okay places to visit. The entire atmosphere is garbage. Nothing but self entitled Aholes. Wanting everything handed to them like they are still a 2 year old breast feeding. Main reason i left comifornia is due to the over abundance of self entitlement. It is only getting worse. Work for what you want earn it dont expect it.

I am amazed at the size of the college campus in San Francisco Burt. It is also an excellent school that competes with UCLA at California State University among other American universities. The younger you go, the more you go by yourself? If you take in the air here deeply, you can't get away from here. That's what Berkeley is all about.

You can never rate a school by it's buildings, though Berkeley has excellent halls

Berkeley cow-towing to the whining generation of gender studies and feminism equality class goers. People who fail to realize we as business owners are hardly going to hire these people after witnessing their harassing, racist, and disparaging acts all across the internet.

I would encourage everyone to take a hard look at the actions of faculty and students at this school and realize it isn't a school of forward thinking and progression. The fact that faculty was encouraging their students to segregate a specific race from entering the campus a few days ago is a backwards way of going about getting their voice heard. Years ago racial barriers in this country were broken down to END segregation and it was meant to secure civil rights for people of EVERY color, including whites. Protesting against racism while doing a racist action shows that the students have learned NOTHING from going to this school.

Best University ever! Great place to learn and hang out!

One of the best University of the globe according to academic ranking. The campus is beautiful and building designs exclusively iconic. Research scope and lab facilities are state of the art. Lovely people and good landscape made the University campus a loveable place.

I don't go to this school, I'm 13 years old, but this place seems dope.

Although known to be very political and very liberal, and portrayed as a left-extremist by the media, UC Berkeley is the heart for free speech movement and is very proud of its stance. Academically, the school is obviously one of the best schools in the world, especially for Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS) department. You'll be surrounded by the most brilliant minds and face yourself constantly pushing yourself to the limits. It is a school where even being average is so hard to achieve because everyone is so smart and competitive.

The #1 public university in the US! The campus is very traditional and beautiful. I spent four years here for my undergraduate degree and loved it. I would highly recommend any high school or transfer student to consider UC Berkeley as their choice for their undergraduate education!

Really large campus with a lot of nature and green hills. The university is quite large and the trees definitely look unique.

UC Berkeley was the meeting place of my parents in the 1960s both anthropology majors. My mother developed an intense narcissist complex while a student here as she described to me. I couldn t understand her advice of taking the easiest classes in order to get the highest grades and forget everything after the test. My father got B s yet remembered everything so I think the professors got the students mixed up. My mother became ultra competitive toward me yelling at me for having physics textbooks in the house. She said she just couldn t do Calculus II but her stories she is consumed with herself studying German in bed. Or getting the top grade in linguistics big deal lady. I also told her that English is probably actually Danish Swedish origin as it has more in common than with German to invalidate her grades. I also have a nutcase acquaintance who brags about graduating phi beta kappa in chemistry and yet cant remember even simple concepts. Also my mom phi beta kappa brags about talking with Edward Teller at a party. Her view of herself is skewed as is the view of so many others who attend here. That is to say should we take the advice of easiest classes in the entire school to get the best grades and then brag about its reputation for having the most Nobel Prize winners in the world. I m involved with the mental health system now because of my inability to make the right connections. I can agree with taking a fairer grader professor in technical classes who motivates and nurtures but not my mom s of easy classes pretend all you want to be a genius. Truth is San Jose State and Arizona State have geniuses too get over yourself. Also diversity is so abysmally low there ought to be a law suit. Asians are just compulsive but not necessarily smarter than everyone else my mom case in point. I m looking for my friend Darryl D who transferred with me from CCSF out of high school for computer science probably has a security clearance. I was enrolled in Reserve Officers Training Corps for the Army, Major Abenhouse said I would have been a good officer. I was an Applied Mathematics major and taking all the wrong professors to accomodate ROTC in the afternoon. They kept saying the women math profs if you come to lecture do the work ask questions you will at least get a B. I also had friends Kirsten M in Mechanical engineering with Professor Tongue and his stories about the Z3. And there was Kelly G in Army ROTC wonder how my friends careers worked out

It is very appalling and disgusting that the university would permit such a "peaceful" protest. On behalf of educated and loving Latinos, we are truly sorry the way some of our people treated the non-colored people. It is unacceptable! Every university should be a welcoming environment. I hope all faculties and the administrators do something to end that bs those racist protestors are promoting!

While visiting Napa Valley for our anniversary we took some time to drive back through Oakland so we could stop by Berkeley University. My cousin went here and always raved about the place. I honesty wasn t impressed, the campus looked old and in need of some repair, it was late in the evening and the street going up to the campus looked dangerous. Even the typical cafes you find outside a university looked sketchy. While I understand its appeal to the bohemian crowd I was a little disappointed.

A disgusting place that allows racism to run free as a protest that forced white to not be able to leave or go into campus took place, and the faculty did nothing. Do yourself a favor and not apply to this joke of a university. They even took down their review part on their facebook page because they didn't like all the bad reviews they started getting! Yes, let us all censor things when it is convenient. Absolutely disgusting this university should be ashamed and anyone attending it should feel embarrassed.

I think University of Berkeley California College is a good school because my teacher Hannah Harrison went there and my friend Dominick says that its his dream college because it has a great view once you walk out that front door. Dominick says that its a very great college so he could work on a lot of stuff like history and Reading. He would also like to learn french. So that's my review and I hope who ever goes to that school has a wonderful time.

Went to this university during this AVID trip and first of all, it is very pretty. Second of all, really good Law School. I hope to attend here soon.

This used to be a bastion of free speech. Now it's infested with students and staff who believe the only voices that should be heard are those they agree with. It's disheartening. The only things you're allowed to hear in this institution are views that undermine freedom of speech and American ideals.

School is allowing racist protestors to attack white students, disrupt school operations and perpetuate a culture of entitlement and hate in the name of LGBT rights. The worst part is that I saw police there and they said they were ensuring the protest remained "peaceful." Nothing was peaceful about it. The protestors violently pushed and hit white students who tried to cross the bridge, while the police just stood there on orders of the school administration to not interfere. This isn't about equality anymore, its about entitlement and a cult of rights. If the school administration does not stop this and condemn this kind of radical behavior, there will be legal actions taken.

Took my cousins to the campus. People are rude the campus is trashed. Will not let my family go to this school. Segregation and violence erupts here and the police let them run wild. This is not what I want my taxes going to. This school needs to be re evaluated and preferably closed

As a member of the Greek community and a part of one of these organizations this is highly offensive. Sororities at UC Berkeley make it their goal to give women a place to feel comfortable as well as better the community. Comparing specific houses to characters from a movie about bullying is absurd and beyond inaccurate. Making the claim that sororities are cliques is demeaning the sisterhood and values they are founded on. This clearly is a stab at a community on campus that does nothing but support the rest of the student body.

A disgraceful place today compared to what it was in the 60's. Homeless people, pan handlers, con artists and dirty smelly bums all over the campus now. We went back to visit and found the place not safe at all. Crime is rampant in the neighborhoods surrounding the campus. Everything including the campus looks run down and in need of repairs. Today I would never allow my children to attend to their university studies here as we did 40 years ago. The atmosphere here on campus and surrounding neighborhoods can not be conducive to studying or living a university life. Sorry for such a negative review but honestly we could not wait to leave the campus and surroundings. Such decline at was once such a beautiful university is now a disgrace to The University of California system.

Death of Free Speech. You are not allowed your Constitutional Right to Free Speech here. You will be silenced and attacked if you speak your mind. Don't visit here, don't spend your money here, don't send your kids here.

Went here for math back in the day, very good school and community. The teachers are all a little disinterested from teaching becuase they have 'more important' things to do
