This is the place to go whether you're vaguely curious about our space history or a fanatic like me.
Great place to explore our rocket, and space history. Many great events that are open to the public. There is no excuse for locals not to attend a free event at least once a year. Truthfully, the regular fee is worth it to those who are visiting the area, or if it has been a while since your last visit. Take the grand tour (do the bus tour) to see even more; visiting sites that are actually within Redstone Arsenal. If you are in to space / science, you gotta do it.
Wonderful center! Knowledgeable and friendly staff. They are currently working on renovations and preservation of some exhibits. Will always recommend as a must go-to for Huntsville/Madison area. Membership fees are definitely worth it!
Plan on spending the whole day there. One of my favorite parts was being able to chat with the knowledgeable retired NASA engineers walking around and sharing their stories. You won't be disappointed!
We love the Space & Rocket Center! We have been Space Camp supporters since 1982. Have 2 Alumni in the family.
Loved this place! Tons to see, and then once you see it, you want to go back and see it again. I think the highlight for me was seeing a Saturn V rocket on its side 12 feet above your head.
Another highlight: SEEING A ROCK FROM THE MOON!?!?! Tough to beat that, people! A12 Oxcart out front is a nice touch, but could use some upkeep.
Loved it! Well worth the price. Only wish I'd had more time to take it all in. Absolutely fascinating.
Great family trip. Lots of history. Amazing to see the real life size rocket and the replica ones. Need 2-3 hours to walk through. Some things/ exhibits were not open due to virus. Gift shop was expensive but can shop online before going. Outside stuff not taken care of like it should have been. Staff very knowledgeable with history and willing to answer any question.
So neat and Space Camp was well worth it. Great food.
A fun, educational experience that offers something for everyone!
Cool! Can you add a fake rocket we can straddle for photos?
Love the Space and Rocket Center, Have made the drive from Atlanta three times.
I was astonished at all the amazing things to see and do here. I hope to return and look at all the things I missed the first time! You will not be bored here.
I loved the mock space station, and if you get there close to closing (like I did travelling for work) they allow you to use your admission again the next day! I didn't because it wasn't busy that day (it was just me, my kids were home in another state so I went through fast) and I saw what I wanted. Didn't expect so much military stuff and information! Would love to take my kids! So fun!
We paid $165 for a family membership. No one told us that the two rides outside that our grandchildren were looking forward to riding were closed. And many of the interactive exhibits they were interested in were out of order. I Don't think they will want to go back. Very disappointed and we would not have paid if we had known. They upped the price and the quality went down.
My love for all things space and science was thoroughly satisfied! Ever since I was a child, I had dreams of being able to become an astronaut and imagined being the astronaut to discover something phenomenal in the final frontier. Though I am not an astronaut (yet), this brought me back to my childhood and by the end of my tour, I didn t even realize my feet were swollen from walking everywhere and seeing everything! Thanks to my new boss for gifting me a free ticket to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center! Thank you to all those who contributed and worked hard on keeping this place pristine and commemorative. I ll be back here to drop off my future children to Space Camp! (Once I find a suitable spouse)
Very cool & interesting! LOVED the Biergarten under the Saturn V Rocket, can't wait to go back there for the German dinner.
Awesome part of American history that everyone should see.
Very educational & historic; a place to proudly support. Plus free rides and play areas for your toddlers/kids/teens.
Great learning environment and awesome displays of the history of rockets and space in Huntsville. They allowed the NICA high school mountain bike race to go through the park as part of the race course. It was pretty epic
Informational and great experience regarding space and rocket evolution.
Loved it. Went on a weekday - no crowds = no lines. Reminded me a bit of Cape Canaveral but I actually enjoyed this place more. Found the exhibits to be much more in-depth and informative.
The history represented here is amazing. And to be able to talk to volunteers that used to work at NASA was an unbelievable opportunity!! Definitely coming back!
Beware if your membership is a gift, especially if you have not received a membership card. A friend from New Orleans bought a membership for me as a Christmas present. I had not received a card but was told by a membership employee that my membership would be recognized when I showed up. It was not. I was asked to pay the $20.00 admission fee. I returned home, called, and was assured that I would receive a membership card in the mail. Two weeks later, no membership card. Called and ended up speaking to Amber, director of membership, about the situation. She insinuated that I was a liar; that I was not a member. I called my friend in New Orleans and told her about the encounter. She's going to call Amber and request a refund. Next stop, she'll be purchasing a gift membership at the Huntsville Botanical Garden or Museum for me.
I went on a field trip there they have slot of fun activitys!!!
Great place to visit in Huntsville if you are interested in Space.
Great for little ones. Lots of construction so most exhibits down. Probably better in summer
Plan on spending the day here. So much to see and do. Take the extra tour to Redstone Arsenal whereyou see the rocket engine testing sites and you go inside mission control for the International Space Station when it is up in space on its missions. fascinating to watch the engineers and the technicians working in the facility and one even came out to talk to us about everything that goes on in there. Well worth the extra cost to take the bus out to Redstone and that takes about 2 hours out of your day so plan on spending the whole day there or even overnight to take in everything they have on display including the space capsules and the moon lander.
Space nerds will obviously love this place. Always had wanted to see a Saturn V in person, and Huntsville sort of has two of them. One is, admittedly, a full-size modeln but it is still awesome to see in person. You cannot get a feel for the size of these rockets without standing underneath it.
Great place to go with family and friends too. My boys enjoyed!
Great place to spend the day. A little pricey if you have a large family.. but worth it
It's a great size to take children without them getting overwhelmed or exhauated, and the displays are interactive and exciting enough to ward off potential boredom while teaching them about science. Always has a fantastic traveling display as well.
My daughter went to space camp there and really liked it. We enjoyed visited the place while she was there.
Seriously not enough time in the day to see everything. This place is amazing!!!
Great history of the space program. Lots to see and do. The only negstive was several of the hands on exhibits were not working.
Great place to take the family. It will easily take at least 3 or 4 hours and you still won't be able to experience everything!
This is a place where families can spend time together touring the Space Center and seeing amazing things and it's so educational for kids! It's a really wonderful place for people of all ages!
We spent more time here than we expected. Enjoyed the day reading the history and learning things we didn't already know.
that was probably the best place to go on a field trip to.
Even if you're not a fellow space nerd the history and gravity, no pun intended, of the actual rockets in person is really cool.
Great place to visit when you're in the area! Lots of cool things to see, fascinating information, and the temporary exhibit had a lot of hands-on displays for some good family fun. Also, space camp looks amazing!!
It was very hot outside with a heat index of 105. Many of the outside missiles on display outside were in dire need of repainting. They were nowhere near the condition they were in the last time I was here. The inside exhibits were just fine.
One word, AWESOME. Planning to bring the grandkids next summer.
Always a blast at the Space and Rocket Center! The staff is so kind and welcoming! The facility is clean! Definitely a great place to take kids of all ages with so much to do and learn!
Great place clean, very educational, good for adults and kids!!
This is one amazing place, I took my kids there 25 years ago. On our return trip with our grandchildren it has only improved. It was so special bringing them back to see what they remembered, and they were so thrilled to be back and the memories came back to us. The staff very helpful and kind, the food in the mars grill was on the expensive side so plan for that. The Saturn V Museum was fantastic with a complete Saturn V displayed. The other displays were also informative, and the interactive attractions were great for kids. Could not have had more fun with kids & grandkids. If someone is a rocket or space fanatic you must see this place.
If you are a space geek this is a must visit spot. Huntsville was a hub of the Apollo program and developed a ton of parts if the Saturn V. There's a rich history if the space program here. And, for kids...Space Camp!
Going during the week is actually a lot more crowded (with school kids) than on the weekends!
Great museum with interactive exhibits. Planetarium and external telescope viewing
A really cool place! They have real space ships and really cool exibits. This place is a family friendly museum. There are simulators that you can use to feel like you are an astronaut! This place has real space things that were actually used in space missions around space. A must-go place if you love to see things that were used in space!
Very nice we enjoyed our family reunion there in July this year.
Educational, is like take all of my grand children. When I have overseas house guest always stop list.
Our family had a wonderful experience highly recommended it
My wife and I loved it, and our kids loved it! I could come back here five times and still not see everything.
Fun place, especially for kids age 8 to 12. Not quite enough stuff for an entire day but a really full and fun half day of activities. The volunteer guide in front of the moon rover display was one of the guys who helped design it! Super cool to meet him. This place shares a year pass ticket system with other Science Centers and attractions so check the website.
It's a huge campus with plenty to do. If you have the time don't miss out on the IMAX theater!
I mean... it s the Space and Rocket center... you have to give it 5/5 stars! Amazing pieces of history are around every corner.
Worth the stop. Allow at least a couple hours to see the sights, more if you want to see a presentation like the planetarium.
