Loved this place as a kid, also love it as an adult. Go if you want a free day of aviation history!
Fantastic museum, a must see for people of all ages. Allow at least 4 to 5 hours to see all building. Tour can be informative depending on the tour guide. Did I mention that it's free? While in Dayton, go visit the Wright Brothers National Park museum and take the free tour.
The Air Force Museum is set up very well and very informative. Enjoyed how they had different branches of military to be able to talk with. Meet solders from WW2, Korean, Vietnam and Gulf War. Amazing place to learn and enjoy a day. Always free and a very humbling experience to remember and celebrate being American and the sacrifices made for our freedom.
The definitive museum for American aviation history! You will view a huge inventory of unique aircraft that span man's love affair with flight. Currently they feature a war dogs exhibit. I highly recommend it. Bring a handkerchief as it may cause a tear or two. Not only are dogs man's best friend, they even enter the arena of war with us. The museum also has an incredible selection of hard to find history and reference books and merchandise. A perfect place for young minds to grow!!
Absolutely incredible collection of aircraft and related artifacts pertaining to flight and the United States Air Force. A great way to spend a day exploring aviation development and history.
excellent display, would recommend several visits to see all
Outstanding! Had been on our bucket list and we happened to be there on Memorial day weekend. Very inspirational.
Absolutely the best aicraft museum in the world. I've been a member for 25 years. Today's opening of the new hangar was phenomenal. The Titan is mind blowing. Seeing the SR 71 with the x15 is amazing. Also, KH-10.....how did they get a semi into space?
I am very lucky to live only 10 miles from the museum. I never have a boring weekend.
446 Bomb Group reunion. Met 3 wonderful WWII Veterans!
Always something new alot history there great for kids
The satues could be updated, but everything looks great. The workers were a tad bit rude, bit that's alright. It was very educational and fun.
Me and my client love to come here, huge museum with lots to see.
Great place to visit, have been there more times then I can count. Always getting new stuff
Fun place with lots of planes and historical information.
Loved the muesum! The cafe needs work. Stomach hurts very bad from whatever I ate there.
The place is huge with a lot of interesting exhibits.
Visited with my cousin from California. Fortunate to have such a great museum in our hometown.
My family had an enjoyable day here. The museum was bigger than we anticipated it being. Because of the size, and living fairly close, we didn't see everything. The displays are set up well and the information presented is done clearly. They are currently moving things around to incorporate the Memphis Belle into the exhibit. I completely enjoyed the presidential gallery. Walking through SAM 26,000, where Kennedy's body was transported and Johnson sworn in was powerful. We will certainly be going back.
Such a huge place. FREE! So much history. Have your walking shoes on. If you only have a few hours look at the map on the web site to target specific areas. It is all good. Really like the goblet display for the Doolittle Raiders.
We love this place!!!! Such an awesome tribute to all our brave men and women. Very educational and FREE.
One of the best museums in this country. Beautifully & lovingly curated. Volunteer staff are all friendly and really care that you enjoy your visit. Even family who don't share my aviation obsession leave enamored and in awe of not only the amazing aircraft but also the stories told on each one and how you can almost touch that history. Absolutely one of my 5 favorite places on planet earth
Best airplane museum in the world. A must go for airplane enthusiasts.
Highly recommend a visit. The museum is large and well organized with lots of history. Signage could stand to provide more context of each exhibit but if you can find a volunteer it is well worth your time.
Great displays of many planes, jets, missiles and other aircraft.
Cost is Free
It's free! So much to see and experience. My kids loved climbing in the cockpits.
I think this museum is more interesting than the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and it's always free with ample parking. I've been here easily 15 times and I haven't seen everything yet. There are a decent amount of changing exhibits as well.
A great historical museum for those who love aircraft or are interested with military equipment. Need more than a day to really see it all but that's ok it is free admission.
worth your time and effort as it's location from airport is quite a distance. Incredible aircraft covering all periods. They now have the restored Memphis Belle.
One of the best things about Dayton. If you are stuck in this town make sure to check this place out and block off an afternoon to do so.
An extensive and amazing collection of aircraft, rockets and exotic vehicles. It's worth a while day of exploring. A lot of history and inspiration. Great for children. Get there early to try out some of the simulators. Staff is very helpful and getting around is easy. Expect to walk a lot!
If you live aviation then you already know this place. If you don't, then this is a great place to learn about the history of the US Airforce, flying in general, and see some amazing aircraft in person.
Great place to explore aviation history in United states.
Museum is wonderful. The Refueling Cafe was horrible. Pack a lunch.
Great place to go. Free is nice and our boy scouts had a very good time plan on returning and camping next time
Huge, fantastic museum! Tremendous displays. Wonderfully restored aircraft. My son and I needed 2 days to cover all of the rooms. You could spend a week reading everything and probably still miss something. Unbelievable place to learn and recognize the accomplishments and contributions of the USAF. A must-go.
Excellent museum that has too much to see in a day. The exhibits there are one of a kind ranging from WWII bomber jackets to a captured north Korean mig. They have some activities for the kids as well as adults. I would highly recommend that you try out the jet simulator as it's a unbeatable experience.
Wonderful location. Never know how much time you would need to go over everything
Outstanding museum for being FREE! Lots of interactive exhibits. I plan to come back again and spend several days.
Every American should see this place and marvel in the engineering, bravery, and history on display. Maybe more citizens would appreciate the great country we live in.
Huge museum, LOTS of neat planes from Wright Bros to rockets and stealth bombers. 4 different Air Force Ones. Fantastic place and VERY kid-friendly. AND.... it is FREE!
If you're really into aviation history this might be for you. However as someone who enjoys history museums generally, I felt this one was a bit dull and dated.
Awesome place to visit. Love all the facts about the aircrafts.
Tbis is such a fun and educational experience for the entire family!
Absolutely amazing museum to visit. Free admission and a ton of history to read up on.
A treasure of aviation history! You can get lost in this place! Its so great!
Awesome museum, knowledgeable staff. You could get lost in here for hours exploring
I used to visit 35 years ago and still love the place. Friendly guides. Awesome planes. Plus it's free... But please donate.
What a great way to spend a weekend day! You could spend hours and hours seeing everything! Exciting place to visit, explore and learn about our air support history!
A awesome treasure to have so locally. Filled with these amazing machines. A must destination to take the family.
Excellent museum. Can easily spend a good half of a day here.
So much to see. More than I can take in. 4 hangers, so much to learn & lots of walking. Great improvements in recent years.
Absolutely awesome! The variety and display of aircraft is remarkable but the ability to interact with former Air Force heroes is the best part of the experience. I only had half a day and only got through two galleries. Will definitely have to come back and spend more time here. So fortunate to have such a quality museum and that it's free. Great gift shop.
My four and a half year old and two year old boys love this museum. My parents and I enjoyed it, too.
Learning about the history of flight, the Air Force, and even recent space shuttles is intriguing.
A fantastic collection of aviation and National history. 4 gigantic hangars of displays. Must be hundreds of aircraft available. You'll need lots of time to see everything but luckily it's free so you don't have to do it all in one day.
Great day trip while you are crossing the upper mid West. Plan on at least 3 hours to see the basics. Many more for a full tour.
Great exhibits, alot of different aircraft from aviation history
Amazing experience and being that it's free makes it even better! If ur from the area and haven't been I don't know what ur doing in life!
One of the best displays of historical planes outside of the National Air and Space Museum. Plan to spend an entire day delving into the museum, spread across four or five interconnected hangars. Great for kids, especially with the virtual reality rides and walk throughs of several planes. Wonderful place with very knowledgeable Docents.
Air Force Museum is a great experience for everyone of all ages. The place is huge wear comfortable shoes lots of walking
I have very rarely seen such a fine collection of aircraft in my life. The volunteers are also fantastic. They have a lot of pride in what they do and it shows. They're also very knowledgeable and interested in what they do.
Lot of interesting information. Ready to spent all day there.
Absolutely fantastic place to tour. I highly recommend the guided tours for a lot of the "back story" that's not on the signs and plaques. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk. They DO have scooters for those who require them, but in limited quantity. You simply cannot see all of the exhibits in one day, so plan for several days. Also, check their webpage, as next weekend (September 21st 2019) they are hosting a marathon, so parking will be more difficult. Very much worth it, and it's FREE!
Larger than I remembered. Got there one hour after they opened and took till closing to get through it all.
Loved everything. The Air Force One planes were really neat.
Wonderful place! Does take time to go through all exhibits, so plan accordingly. Amazing to see the vast collection.
Amazing museum that showcases the most famous and influential aircraft in the history of the United States and the world. It is a flawless collection beginning with the Wright brothers military flier, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Cold War, Iraq, Afghanistan, space, and beyond! It takes multiple days to tour if you really stop to read the information. Dayton is the birthplace of flight so it's fitting for the worlds best aviation museum to call Dayton home. Highly highly recommend.
An excellent museum for those who are interested in historical wars of USA. You can see the original fighter planes, missiles etc and the story behind each
Awesome time and wish I had more time to spend there
Amazing place. There is so much to see, and 1-2 days isn't enough time.
Definitely spend a little time in the POW exhibit. It isn't large, but it is very moving.
The way the museum is arranged it awesome, as you view aircraft by era our major conflict of involvement.
If you hate the US Air Force you need to get here, because your mind will be completely changed. You will be proud of our airmen and women and a fan by the time you leave. As a retired Army officer, I was able to see up close aircraft from Wilbur Wright glider, WW I and II, the cold war, Korea, Vietnam and into the modern era, including the newest stealthy drones. There is nothing like this museum in the world. Seven hangers worth of aircraft and missle systems that are completely free to the public. Bring the kids, there are multiple simulation systems they will want to try. I know you will love it.
What can I say? This place is huge! So many aircraft displays with such a unique history. The museum is in 4 hangers and is broken up by era, i.e. Vietnam, WWI, WWII, early flight, etc. It is free to enter and you could spend an entire day in just one hanger. A must if you're in the area!
Very educational place to visit. Helpful people to explain any questions
WOW! Been twice now. It's totally free to visit. You learn so much and can actually walk into the planes. It's easily an all day trip.
