Believe it or not, I've been here 4 times already! I love air and space museums that every time I have friends visiting me, I bring them here. This is a huge museum that is divided in different sections. Start from the one closest to the entrance so you'd at least follow the historical background. If you go with kids, it might take you much longer to see everything. But I'm pretty sure the kids would enjoy this a lot!

Awesome place. Very interesting.

Awesome place. Very interesting.
Incredible number of planes, jets, rockets, etc. I got chills being on the same plane JFK's body was carried on after his assassination and standing in the same spot where Jacqueline and LBJ stood as he was sworn in as President. LOTS of history here. Great explanations accompanied each display. Very clean, up to date, well laid out. Can't believe this place is free!

Best museum to visit, very interesting lots of history! 4 hangars full of planes from different eras. A theater showing amazing documentaries and except the theater and simulators the visit is free. I already loved the Air Force but here my respect and honor grew higher!

Way better than the space museum in D.C. All the exhibits were fascinating and extremely well curated. This place brought history alive and was like going back in time. I took my 11 year old grandson and he took the time to read many of the exhibit descriptions. The space is well laid out, the chronological time progression made a lot of sense, and the buildings were large enough so I never felt crowded or rushed to move on. This museum is worth a long drive and is a wonderful destination just by itself. And the price is reasonable - it is FREE!

This is by far the biggest and most impressive aviation museum I've ever seen. Much more comprehensive than the Air & Space Museum at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. Both museums require you to go through security, but there was no delay here. The last time I visited the Smithsonian, the line to get into the Air & Space Museum came out of the building, down the steps, and out into the Mall. This is a much more enjoyable place, not to mention that's there's no trouble parking. And it's all free!

Truly one of the most remarkable places you can ever visit! I have lived less than a half hour away my whole life and I still find this place amazing. There is so much history that it is almost overwhelming. I spent 4 hours and walked nearly 4 miles and still didn't come close to seeing it all. Best of all, it is all free unless you want to enjoy an IMAX movie or simulator. There are as many historical artifacts (each with its own history attached) as there are aircraft.

Bring good shoes, a camera, and enjoy the air conditioned/ heated hangars. Plentiful free parking.

I highly recommend this place for young or old!

This place is amaze-balls. Since the last time I visited they have moved the experimental planes off the base and put them in a new fourth hanger, which means that you don't have to take a shuttle bus to see them. The fourth hanger is all the way at the end, but totally worth the walk. It also has a Presidential collection, including the plane that Lyndon Johnson was sworn in on after Kennedy was shot. Truly a lot of amazing history in this museum.

This is one if the best museums I have been to. If you want to learn about the aircraft and how the contributed to the wars or if you just want to see a ton of cool planes, this place is amazing. I've been here twice and will definitely return again someday.

Informative, interesting. Aviation from beginning to current including past presidential airplanes and a section on space and you can walk through many different planes. There are also sections on our POWs and the Berlin wall. A couple virtual reality simulators are available (there is a small charge for them; my cousins "experienced" a space walk and said it was great). I'm sure I'm forgetting something. There is plenty of parking including handicapped and the entire museum is accessible to your wheelchair or theirs - regular or battery-powered. They add items as available, so check for new exhibits. It's also free.

Being the world's largest military aviation museum, this should be on every aviation buff's bucket list. Each of the four hangars has an awesome collection which can easily take hours to go through. Definitely worthy of its reputation.

If you like airplane museums, this place is amazing. They have free tours of each of the 4 building. I would highly recommend doing the tours, it gives you a good overview of the collection and the tour guides are very knowledgeable.

A great place to go to wear out the kids and to learn a lot of history. But plan to spend the entire day here if you have never been. The museum is a lot bigger than it looks from maps or from the road. Awesome place to understand U.S. aviation

This is the best air and space museum outside of the Smithsonian in Washington DC. This museum will take a few days to explore fully. If you are limited on time I suggest you pick the exhibits to see ahead of time.

Awesome place to visit! There is so much to see and learn here. You could spend all day and not see everything. They have several LARGE hangers and in the process of adding another one. Plan ahead so you can see everything and be prepared to do some walking. You can download exhibit guides on their website. They have an annex with airplanes being restored. You have to sign up for the bus ride to the annex when you get there but it's worth it. Be sure to visit the planes outside and the park.

Great history and lots of different planes. Loved seeing Air Force One from the past along with B2 bomber. This place is full of GREAT historical items and will take a while to soak it all in but well worth the trip.

Have family that are enthusiastic about aircraft? ...

Have family that are enthusiastic about aircraft? Want to build enthusiasm about aircraft in your kids? There's nowhere better to leave an impression.

The museum is clean, well organized and extremely well presented, with enough simple amazement for the masses and enough details for people who really want to know more in depth information.

If you follow the intended layout of the place, it's organized chronologically starting with a wright brothers plane up to icbms and space travel.

This is a federal property so you will expect that weapons are not permitted, and they do have metal detectors, yet their screening process is simple and the security staff are friendly and not intrusive.

Features of note, experimental craft, sr71 blackbirds, a b2 stealth bomber, simulators to try out for a reasonable fee, tons of unique aircraft to least about.

My personal favorite that left an impression on me from when I was a small child has to be the Valkyrie, a breathtaking white two of a kind bomber that dwarfs most of the other aircraft in the hangar.

Make sure to plan to optimize your time getting here early and plan to be a while, this is perhaps the largest museum I've ever been to, and you can easily spend all day here and still not see everything.

Oh, and did I mention, it's free?

They do have a restaurant and large gift shop, to this day I have fond memories of picking out toy aircraft and playing with them merrily for the long ride back home.

Finally after years of wanting to visit ,, great museum with lots of things to see and appreciate ,, spent only the whole day and I still wanted another day or 2 ... you will see items not seen in other similar museums ,,

You cannot bring in food nor water and in order to get a map , you have to donate $5 for it .. bring a tripod or at least a monopod and they allow my backpack with camera gear ... a must see/stop for enthusiasts ...

Great museum we took our 5 kids and there are planes they could walk in. You can tour JFK Air Force 1. They had a small holocaust exhibit. Make sure you give yourself enough time to see it all.

Excellent displays of aircraft. The Memphis Belle is magnificent. Worth the cross-country drive to see.
The volunteer staff are friendly and helpful, obviously passionate about the exhibits.
But, some people's kids should be tethered and taught some manners before being allowed in public spaces.

How can you not be in awe of this museum? This is an all day type of place where honestly you will not see it all unless you pace yourself as your walking through. I highly suggest you come in and b line directly to the last hanger where they have the presidential planes you can walk through because that way you get an idea of how immense this museum is and at least you can get an idea of what to see and what to come back too there next time you will be coming back!

This is a great place for aviation and history buffs alike. They have everything from WW1 all the way through the Cold War including planes used by former presidents, which you can walk through. The museum is free, and I believe they offer tours, but you can also do your own walk through. They have plaques at all the planes so you can read about them. Also, bathrooms and water fountains are conveniently located throughout and a couple cafes as well. Note that they do not allow guns or weapons of any kind and you will be screened as you enter. Give yourself at least 5 hours here because there is A LOT to see.

Very intriguing place to go. I took my nephew here and although he is only 6, he found this place quite fascinating. He really loved the area that s kid friendly where they have a simulator that you can ride in.

You will spend the entire day here! Unbelievable collection of air planes, helicopters, rockets, bombs, and so much more! There's plenty of planes to walk inside of! I've been to the national air and space museum and I was blown away at how much more this museum has to offer.. And it's free! Make sure to donate, purchase the D-day movie viewing and purchase the D-day interactive exhibit! It's well worth the promotional price of $10 for both!

Wow, can't believe all the history in these 4 huge hangars. Had a great time and can't believe it is free! Exhibits are spaced out enough so you can actually read about each exhibit without having a crush of people pushing you on. We got hungry going through it and discovered they had a cafe to eat at. Called the Refueling Cafe on the 2nd floor in one of the hangars.
