Before we went, we were also upset and thought it was very unsafe. When I arrived, I found that it was full of ancient traditional architecture, beautiful lawn, very charming, worth seeing. However, the surrounding environment of the university is not very good. If you go to visit, you should go early in the day, it is very early in the dark.
Their buffet has cereal and milk and chocolate milk and their buffet is delicious

Actually he also was leading racist attacks on colored people and invited Milo to speak. What a shame, it's in his record, yet they admitted him. Tells you a lot how racist they are.
What a pretty campus! However, the public transportation for visitors can be inconvenient, since the convenient school shuttle bus is not open to the general public.

Speaking from a non-enrolled student perspective I can only comment on the looks of the University. I live just south of the campus and can not help walking through the grounds. I am always surprised at how distinguished the campus looks, with its ivy and all that. All three of my roommates attend the university and are very happy with their choice.

The University of Chicago is a great school. One of the best in the world. I believe they have more Nobel prize winners than any other institution internationally. I graduated from the University of Chicago laboratory high school. I received my masters degree from the University of Chicago divinity school in religious studies. I an now completing my PhD in psychology at another University.
During my 3-day and 2-night Chicago trip in October, I spent 6 hours in this beautiful campus. I walked around campus from building to building and enjoyed the great architecture of U of C. Hopefully, one of my family members can come here for its famous Economics department in the future.

As a tourist, UChicago has an incredibly beautiful campus with a lot of interesting features and architecture. Highlights include the traditional gothic of the main quad and Rockefeller Chapel, the brutalist Regenstein Library, the sleek and modern Mansueto Library, Ratner Athletics Center, and Booth School, and the downright strange Max Palevsky dorms. And, of course, don't miss the Robie House by Frank Lloyd Wright, which is right off campus.

Great school. The intellectual environment could possibly be second to none. It really is 'the life of the mind', as it says on the tin. But the area sucks. There's not much to do (except study) and it's psychologically far from Chicago proper. You have to sacrifice a lot for this highly goal-orientated way of life but, well, that's the way it is. Decide for yourself if you think it's worth it or not.

Pretty good visit to University of Chicago. Historic buildings with of character and great institute. Great feeling to see Booth school and medical schools. Each of University visit is different and student tours will provide good feeling.
In my first class on Operating Systems - they actually made us WRITE and OS. This university is an INTENSE experience and not suitable for people who are not curious learners. The same rigour was present at the Booth School - where the Professors expected us to know the fundamentals of a formulae - not just its use.
Overall - it is one of the best places to get a real education. Don't expect grade inflation here - there are no easy As here. The only school that I put at par in academic rigour is CALTECH.

The University of Chicago is a beautiful place. The architecture alone is worth taking the time to walk and soak in the sites..The Frank Lloyd house, Chinese Historical Museum and so much more. Of course, we had to stop at the UC Bookstore and cafe for a break and a peice of cake!!

Obviously, I can't say much about how UChicago compares to other schools since I haven't attended any other undergraduate programs. But never before have I been astounded by the caliber of the students here. I have yet to meet a person that wasn't exceptional in some area, to an absurd degree.

A highly selective and great university! It features a beautiful campus and several great programs. I know a couple of people who got their master's degrees here.
I will assume google users are considering the University as a tourist destination. A walk around the University of Chicago can make for a nice afternoon. There is walk along 58th street from Ingleside to Woodlawn. This passes through the hospital area, the main quad, the Oriental Institute, and ends at Plein air cafe and the Robie house. I also recommend visiting the bio pond and walking north on Ellis to see modern Manseuto library next to the brutalist Regenstein library. The midway pleasance and Jackson park are also nearby.
