A lovely restaurant tucked away in the centre of Colchester. Had a very nice lunch and the dishes were unusual. Cakes were gorgeous. Very reasonable too and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Will definately return.

I booked a room at Tymperleys for my daughter's Baby Shower. We had a private room upstairs andit was was beautiful. The staff were very helpful and attentive before and on the day. We had cream teas and it was reasonably priced and delicious. Would thoroughly recommend this venue.

Found this place by accident, but well worth a visit. Lovely decor inside and benefits from ample old world charm due to the restored building it is in. We had a great breakfast which was perfectly portioned and priced.

Ever since cafe rouge closed, have been looking for a restaurant to make a good eggs Benedict. Found one. Eggs done to perfection and a freshly made hollandaise sauce topped on salmon or bacon. Surprisingly, the bacon option is very good, excellent bacon. Will probably come here every Sunday for breakfast from now on.

This place is very nice, beautiful and with very decent food at a fair price. It has its own seclusive area and garden. The place is done nicely with some unique feel to it. It offers a good selection of what you can expect from a place like this and the food is prepared nicely. The only down point is occasionally the food lacks consistency between visits, sometimes it's really good sometimes it's average. Still very nice though.

Just had drinks and cake here before outside but cakes and service was great and really organised for social distancing. Beautiful old building and nice garden, oasis from shopping streets. Could do with more sun umbrellas for all tables!

Nice peaceful location, in the middle of town, but within a walled garden, lovely when the sun is out for Al fresco dining or just a ni e coffee. Good food, friendly service. Nice way to unwind after a few hours shopping.

Went for lunch today and the baked hadock was first class and so tasty. I opted for bread and butter pudding for dessert and it was the worst bread and butter pudding I have ever tasted,l really love this dessert and it was tastlesst only fit for the garden birds. My wife and I have had some good meals here but we won't be rushing back!!! Mr Messer

Very relaxing atmosphere. They've done an awesome job architecturally, combining the old building with new bits. Cream tea is great and the coffee is good. Kid friendly. The toilets are clean and well kept. The staff's excellent and the garden's fantastic.

Beautiful location and restaurant, great food and coffee if a bit of a wait but they did apologise and explain which is fine. One member of staff was extremely polite, however a bit loud and intense which was almost off putting but we found humour in it... Maybe calm it down just a bit.

Highly unrecommended place!!! I gave one star because I didn't like the service! The waitress came to ask for drinks the moment we sat down- not giving us time to settle down properly. The food is quite expensive and oily so not very good for the price. Also We asked for additional milk for our coffee and we received a drop of it- very stingy! And in the end the moment we finished eating they came with the bill and said 'whenever you are ready' so basically kicking us out.
