This is the last youth shelter that I would advise homeless youth to stay at. Each room is crammed up spacewise and includes 8 youth...all in the same room. More than half the time, the whole second floor and each room smells like either dirty feet or drugs. Drug use increases here. Recently homeless youth with mental health problems have high chances of becoming addicted to crystal meth. As far as staffing goes, there is no empathetic relation from staff to youth, whereas, at many other shelters, the staff are good with empathetic and understanding skills. I would know this, as being a resident here several times.

I've been in and out of this shelter for 3ish year...

I've been in and out of this shelter for 3ish years now.

The washroom faucet water smells like rotten eggs to this very day for several years, and I've found maggots by the dozens crawling out from the edges of the sink and on the floor and onto the counter.

The salad is not always fresh with obvious discoloration, and neither is the chicken that they occasionally serve here.

I've complained, and have written suggestions for change and for years down to this day this problem has not been resolved.

I've witnessed shelter staff in this location (95 Wellesely St.E) pick fist fights with residents here.

I've witnessed shelter staff chase a resident inside the washroom to beat up, and the resident locked himself in by holding the door handle shut.

On another occasion I've witnessed a staff slam a door on a resident's hand as it happened right in front of me, and when the resident confronted the staff in a non-violent manner (to avoid being discharged/kicked out of the shelter) the shelter staff went into the youth's face and barked at him to go outside to fight, and they both ended up going outside, and they both ended up throwing punches at each other. To test the validity of this statement, just ask Jill the manager whatever happened to Patrick the male staff that no longer works there.

Shelter staff at this location have also tried to intimidate me by getting into my face, screaming at me, telling me to go outside to fight, threaten to discharge me out of mere disagreements, refusal to engage and ignore staff results in immediate discharge (they've threaten to do it to me several times on the basis where I was not required to respond)

I mispronounced a staff's name here, and he screamed at me and told me if I call him by that one more time he's kicking me out. The staff's name is ''Yudicus'' or something, a black male about 5'0ft tall... I called him ''Ludicrous'' because I thought that was his name. This staff has also pointed his finger right in my face.

On another occasion, I've witnessed Wanitta the female morning staff kick out a resident who was attending day program with me, and other residents. The day program staff had asked the youth what he doesn't like about TurningPoint and what he would like to see different around here. He responded, and Wanita upon hearing what he had to say told him directly to clean out his locker and to pack up his things and to get out. The day program staff herself openly said to everyone and to Wanita ''I can't help but feel responsible for what's going on''... Yeah, it's not your fault, you asked the question and the youth answered and Wanita didn't like it.

The shelter closes in the morning at 8:15am. Wanita usually arrives at around 7:50am ~ 8:00am. When she first comes in through the front doors and she sees the residents still getting ready to leave for the day, she yells so that the whole building can hear her ''Guys, it's 8am the shelter is closed you have to leave!''.... No, we've signed to the agreements of coming here and in the agreements it says the shelter is closed at 8:15am. You, Wanita, do this every single day, for several years that I've been in and out of this place.

Karen, the morning staff gives me the evil eye whenever she sees me. Widens her eyes, and looks at me like I'm not a human being, but some sort of creature. She's also lied to me on one occassion, saying there is no bed available. I blocked my number and gave the phone to my friend to see if she'd give the same answer. He was told that there's a bed available, minutes after saying no.

Jaime, another staff who works at this location has kicked out multiple residents out over verbal disagreements, and arguments many of which Jaime the staff has raised himself. I've witnessed this staff prod and bother residents, intimidate them, make fun of them (myself included), attempt to lower self-esteem, and attempts to demotivate residents, by telling them personally what he feels is best for them, and to stop whatever it is that they're doing (and I'm talking about employment and life goals).
