Course was in decent shape but they were so backed up that we were teeing off 25 minutes after our stated time and didn't get off the course until 5 hours after that . Didn't see a ranger to speed up pace all day

Tunxis Plantation has 2 great 18 hole courses and a nine hole, red course. The white course is a bit more challenging with several water holes but both are interesting, well maintained layouts. They are both enjoyable for golfers of average ability.
Went to play 18 here and the fairways are all beat up and tee boxes as well. I will say the greens were not so bad. I will also add along that checking in was a disaster- I get that lots of people are at the course on a Sunday morning but still it should not have taken that long to get checked in.
Played the green course and it was a nice layout but a real cow pasture. Dandelions growing on the greens, fairways that looked like they were mowed with my lawn mower set on low.
A real shame, a truly nice layout but greens that have never seen a stimpmeter, tees that resemble the rough on most courses, and fairways that are just bad!
It's usually a fun course any of the 3 you play but since covid, I don't like how the pro shop was FILLED with people no social distancing of any sort, alot of people in a small room. Not to mention people walking through with no masks and nobody that works there saying anything. Infact one of the higher ups (I'm guessing since he was telling the workers what to do) walked in and held a surgical mask near his face, didn't have it on just holding it up near his face... I get restrictions have eased abit but that doesn't mean stop wearing masks or social distancing and other protocols that are SUPPOSED to be in place. I also don't like being rushed when playing golf, it's supposed to be relaxing but when your being told to hurry up and move it along it kinda ruins the game...
Had the pleasure of Playing all 3 TPCC Courses White, Green and Red over the last 3 days. Enjoyed all 3 The white was the Nicest in my opinion, More challenging Than Red or Green Hit em straight and you will be rewarded. My wife only plays 9 so the red was an Perfect dose.
The Staff overall was Friendly. Had an 7 am Tee time and the doors were open at 640 went in to register and the Older Man was taken back and said I haven't even opened the register come back in 10 Instead of good morning:) or some welcoming greeting Lock the doors then if you aren't ready? was Planning on hitting an bucket to warm up but that didn't happen. The carts were nice and clean and sanitized. Enjoyed an surprise Morning shower by the sprinklers but it Felt good in the heat:) Prices were reasonable.
Hopefully they will get the Tavern Open soon it looked like an nice place to relax with an Cold Drink after an Round.
Really enjoyed it. We played 36 White and Green Green is easier. Loved the layout course is in solid shape considering the last time it rained in the area Moses was wearing short pants
Can't believe I waited till the end of the golf seaaon for my first round here, played the green course. Solid municipal course with interesting holes, don't need the driver very often but still challenging with greens that are small at times and very undulating with multiple levels when a bit larger. Adding this facility to my regular rotation for next season. Can't wait to try the white course.
We had my sons Bar Mitzvah last night in the pavilion. The venue was gorgeous, the food delicious and the entire staff, both FOH & BOH was absolute first class! Special thanks to Kristine Herold, our event coordinator; she did an amazing job with everything. She was incredibly accommodating and creative and we could not have been happier! Special thanks to Jeff behind the bar, Joe and the rest of the FOH staff, Alex and the rest of the BOH staff and Lauren, the Assistant Events Coordinator. We used Entertainment Unlimited (will post separate review on their site), and they did a fantastic job at keeping the guests entertained. I highly recommend this location for your next event, so give them a call.
I am new to the golf scene but Tunxis CC treated me nicely and with respect. It seems that everyone is professional but also passionate about what they do here. Overall the greens are nice and from what I hear they last all summer long compared to other places.
Sizable so you can always get on. Not maintained well compared to other courses but is cheap. And it wasn't just because it is late season. I have been here several times throughout the year. Also, don't forget your range finder or you will be guessing on distance the entire time. The course is not well marked and where there are yardage markers it is seemingly completely random.
Fantastic public course. I played for the first time today with a reciprocal arrangement from Oxford Greens which is closed today for aeration. The greens are plugged here too and not filled with sand yet. If not for that I would rate it 5 stars.
Some of the fastest, truest greens I've putted. The last time I played this course was in the late 80s. I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed it today. We played the white course and will return to test the red course soon.
this review is long overdue. The course is nice and lush, needs some revamping though. Had a good time here and the staff is very professional and cooperative.
It's not an actual golf experience. I was hired to work there. My start date was 3/08/2020. I arrived at the club at 6:50am and waited for Joseph Abate to arrive for 7. My first phone call was at 6:58am no Joseph. My second phone call was 7:06am No Joseph. There was one other car in the parking lot besides mine so I knew someone was there. It was the chef and he let me wait in the kitchen because I was waiting outside in the cold. I waited a total of 45 minutes for Joseph to arrive and to no avail no Joseph. I proceeded to leave and called again at 8:04am. Finally talked to Joseph and asked him if he wanted me to come back. He said no and that he would call me later. Long story short they won't let me work there because the individual I talked to in the Pro Shop said I was a no show. I've never in my adult life had this happen to me and that individual had such an attitude with me for no reason. I asked to speak to someone who is in charge and he didn't even give me the courtesy of letting me do so. Incredibly rude and unprofessional.
Quick afternoon round on the weekend. Was sent to the Red nine which was in very poor condition, bunkers are a mess from neglect. Only positive is the rate, but it is reflected in course condition.
Terribly disappointed!!! Played the Green course on 11/7/20. Greens were atrocious. Who plugs their greens in November? Late August Through early October I can understand. The greens were impossible to roll the ball on. Can t believe I wasted such a beautiful day out there. The rest of the course was in fair shape , but they should consider removing some of the leaves as it made the ball very hard to find which made the pace of play crawl. I really wish courses would notify on their website when the aerate. I drove an hour and 20 minutes and had little to no interest in golfing after the first 3 holes of plinko.
I had the pleasure of being the photographer at a wedding here last fall and the service and attentiveness of the staff was exceptional, at least from my perspective. Beautiful grounds with lots of great photo ops at the ready. I hope to come back soon!
Among the frustration of trying to call maybe 8 times to reach the pro shop to book a time which is crazy in it's own right. I was also informed that their system just does that? If you know the issue why not attempt to fix that. All that's causing is angry and frustrated people who wanted to play a round.
Onto the golf, So I tried this course out seeing the reviews saying for the price it's a good course, for 18 and a cart it's about 70 dollars to play on the nicer white course.
For what the course is that is not a good price, for 70 dollars I'd expect the course to be lush, defined and well kept tee boxes, no to minimal fairway spotting and fast greens. The greens certinatly do not roll quick which is designed for playability but your charging 70 and calling yourself a "country club"... get the greens moving more at a CC pace then. The tee boxes were a little shaggy is areas, maybe they weren't cut for a couple days when I did play my round but still, and in the fairways there were some dry spotting which with the rain we got, shouldn't be their... the track and layout of the course however is phenomenal. It's a pretty design concept and most of the holes are unique which is very much appreciated as some courses you'll play the front and back and it can feel like the same 9. Not here, that part was great and enjoyable. What hindered that though was the pace of play is SLOWW if your caught on a busy day, good luck with getting in a 4 hour round, you'll be looking closer to 5.
Tunxis is a... very average course and for 70 dollars you can play nicer places. At 60 I'd agree it's a a fair deal but at 70 your starting to get up to Wintobury prices. And Wintonbury in Bloomfield is a much nicer course both ratings wise as far a state public courses go and maintenance wise as well.
Terrible management and non-existing customer service. I have tried to sign up for private lessons. I was promised that someone will be in touch. Well, after waiting for about a week and not hearing from anyone, I found a different golf course and a great coach who is more than happy to take me on. Now, THREE WEEKS LATER I get a call from Tunxis asking if I am still interested in lessons. Yep, just not with you. You dropped the ball.
Tunxis Country Club is definitely one of the best public courses in Connecticut. Since they have 45 holes (two 18 hole courses and one 9 hole course), it easy to book a tee time or just walk up and play.
The pro shop staff is very kind and helpful, and their prices are very reasonable; definitely take advantage of the after 1:00 rate on the weekends or their twilight rates during the week. Also, it is nice that they give discounts to seniors and juniors. The course has always been in great shape; their landscaping is beautiful and all greens are well maintained. The tavern is definitely worth checking out after you play, as the food was so delicious and they have a wide variety of different menu items.
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone.
Great place for a round of golf. You won't regret visiting here. I play every week on Sunday morning and I have nothing but great things to say about it.
PRO: Fair cost for 9 holes and a cart (approx. $35) Well maintained course Nice hole variation Variety of courses to play Plenty of Bfast and lunch places nearby
CON: Heavy rain can yield minor flooding in some areas on the red course
Tunxis is an excellent place to go for a round of golf. There are multiple courses that challenge everybody at every skill level. Always well kept in good shape and a fun place to play. There is both practice greens as well as an irons driving range. Parking is convenient and easily located in Farmington right off of Rt4
