Just tried this place tonight. I cannot explain in words how awesome this place was. I ordered the crispy tacos and they were so good and fresh. The best part was that they were not greasy at all. I also had a fruit cup and it was good because they evenly distributed the Chile and lime throughout instead of just adding it to the top. The menu was so big I can't wait to go back to try more. My daughter had the watermelon agua fresca and it tasted like pure watermelon. So fresh and good. I can't wait to go back!

Service is always great. Employees are always superbly nice. The only drawback is that so many people enjoy frequenting Tropic Express, that the wait time is always long. Which is a good problem to have from a business perspective.

Great looking, tasty snacks freshly made. Very popular spot with shaded, covered outdoor seating. Staff is bi-lingual and super friendly. All snacks and treats are colorful and mouthwatering. Great spot for all ages. Something for everyone. Huge selection on their menu.

Tropic Express is better than Frosty Frog's on Bandera Road. Wonderful delight! Prices very good. About the same as Frosty's. Here's where the differences begin.

1. Freshly made!
2. Staff: Four people to quickly serve your needs.
3. Popular: 15 people enjoying their desserts/meals grew to 25 in less than 10 minutes of our arrival. The Mangoneada had the right amount of sweet and spice. The Icyneada even had sweet tamarind to chew on later. Coconut with cream shaved ice was popular and 2 purchases right after ours. Twelve picnic tables and 4 benches.
4. Variety: Regular food, funnel cakes, (not Frosty's) banana splits and plenty of pictures (not Frosty's).
5. Price: Total for 3 purchases $15.16. Worth it for 12-16 oz deserts.
6. Definitely returning and Highly Recommended!! Mouth is watering just writing this.

Dont come here! They make u wait like crazy went there for the first time and waited for over 40 minutes seen all this people who order more stuff than me get theirs first. They messed up and probably skipped me i got a refund and left. Only reason i wanted to try is because Andrew's was closed. Save ur money this ghetto place dont deserve ur business it doesnt even look that good. Go to Andrews further down on grissom rd.

I paid for a medium size mangonada & I understand every fruteria is different. But this mangonanda did not taste like a mangonanda it tasted more like a water down raspa with mango syrup. We ask for our money back or if we can get something else & the girl named Jeanette said no I can't do anything for you. & I never been so kind to somebody asking for a refund. I should've complained more.

I sent my brother to purchase a lemon squeeze (lemon juice with shaved ice) they said they did not offer that and told him they had something similar so he agreed and paid for the items. I received shaved ice with very little chile powder sprinkled on top and was charged $7, $7 for shaved ice and chile powder. This establishment is a joke. If I could rate less I would. Take your money elsewhere.

Like all fruit cup stands this place is delicious. I grew up in this area so I basicly grew up around this place. It has grown alot. The menu has extended I'm sure the staff grew aswell. I really don't talk to them enough to know if they are friendly but who isn't friendly when they are giving you a cup of shaved ice. I don't like the dirt floors because the wind gets the dirt everywhere. Overall I am impressed this place is still open. I am sure they will get alot of business either way. My favorite item on the menu is the coco mangoada with a coke.

This place has my business so far, just from my first visit. I had a sweet tooth that I had to indulge, so I decided to visit Tropic Express. I chose wisely going with the chocolate Oreo shake. It's literally a combination of Fergie & Jesus...sooo good! The employees are awesome and didn't take long to get my order made. The benches are colorful and comfy to sit on. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of their vast menu.

Are you kidding? $3 for a mountainous mangonada? Most items are $3-5 and are generous portions. I've never had anything but desserts but sweets get 5 stars. Make sure you take note of your order number and listen for it since orders don't always come out sequentially.

Great variety of local shaved ice, mangonada's, ice cream choices, even tortas, nachos, hot dogs, Frito pies, etc.

They have a covered awning with picnic tables but in the summer time you should get your food to go. Extremely hot an all the people parked near the tables with their engines idling either eating in their car or waiting for their orders makes it even hotter.

This place is by far the best for "goodies" from frito pie to banana split to pickle juice concoction etc. A great wide variety of items in the menu. I had the banana split, frito pie and mango cup. Delicious and the price is on point to your portion. They got the Express on the Tropic.. . Enjoy!!!

This place is good for desert snacks. I wouldn't order the tacos anymore, due to the very small portions served. For example, the burritos are actually the size of a small taco and the tacos are just a sample size. I'm comparing this to places that serve, smaller than normal servings, compared to the industry leaders in the city. They are plagued with extremely slow service. Otherwise, the desert products are tasty.

They have such a big variety of flavors of snow cones to choose from, and they corn in a cup, roasted corn funnel cakes, burgers, gorditas, fried oreos, and fried twinkies. Such a huge variety. Didnt know what to pick, finally I pick to coco nada. OMGOODNESS that was amazing.

Not bad for an express type place. Tacos were good brisket with a slice of avacado. The brisket was tender and all meat it was well seasoned. So why the four star rating PARKING. This is a hot spot but it can be a real traffic hazard. On weekends they do have someone directing traffic but it can get teally busy. As for the food it is pretty darn good.
