have been going here for quite a few years and have never been disappointed! the staff are always super friendly and the river never disappoints! I would definitely recommend to anyone/family/couple for both camping or even just a day canoe trip!

Always a fun time and party on the river and go every year. My advice bring plenty of beer cuz I ran out the past two years

Awesome experience, fantastic & friendly staff, fun for the whole family! We got a call from the Trading Post the day before our trip informing us that severs storms had downed several trees and that our reserved trip would not be possible because of trees across the river. They offered to refund our $, let us change the date, or shorten our trip to the Nasby Dam route because that part of the river was still passable. We appreciated their flexibility and effort to let us know what our options were. We will definitely be back to do a longer trip!

The river is beautiful and clean a great all day paddle! The campground is shaded everywhere, an amazing asset, it s not too big, and it runs right by the river (so you can just jump in to cool off anytime you wish). The best is that the family that owns and runs this place clearly cares about both preserving nature and facilitating a great outdoor experience. It s a fantastic place for a paddling camping outdoor retreat!

The weekend was awesome good music with all had a great time may have to do it again not sure! But thanks for the great Times with the boys Douglas Wilson

Andy and Jessica are some of the most friendly hosts! After our fourth trip this season, it was finally time to leave the raving review they ve deserved from us all summer long.

They learned our names after the first visit of the year. They are always flexible, friendly, and just all around a good time.

Kathy is always a gem to work with! She is funny, so kind, and knowledgeable. Isaac and Adam were a great pair to work with her this weekend, we were well taken care of.

As there is with any campground, there are some troublemakers from time to time. The staff at the trading post has always responded appropriately and taken care of all of the issues I ve seen.

I love this place, I love the staff, and I m confident you ll enjoy it too!

We had a fabulous time with our family. The staff was fantastic, and being able to camp right on the pond great for the kids. They had a great time fishing the whole time while I cooked dinner. We look forward to visiting again soon!

We went on a 3hr kayak trip there. I was disappointed with how abused the place was by visitors. At Nasby dam there is graffiti everywhere. (on trees, rocks, the dam its self). There was pop and beer cans and bottles floating everywhere on the river. A group of teenagers were throwing rocks at a rattlesnake they found by the water. We also had the bad luck of going right after a large drunk party that was loud and obnoxious. When you make a reservation they will make you keep it rain or shine. No rescheduling or refunds unless the weather is a danger. In my opinion DNR officers should step up patrols in the high traffic areas to help preserve the area from those who wish to destroy it. I will go kayaking again but not likely in this area.

This place has a great campground, friendly staff with great customer service. We go here atleast once a year and always have a great time. Atleast 5 times or more! Its tradition now!

Had an amazing time and the scenery was beautiful. I definitely recommend anyone to go through them for a kayaking trip.

Make sure to cover yourself with bug repellent. We were eaten alive and this 2.5 hour long trip took us half that time we were paddling so fast just to finish bc the mosquitoes were SO BAD.

Have camped here two years now and have canoed/ kayaked here multiple times. The owners are wonderful and run a great business. We enjoy doing both with this place. Staff is always nice and friendly make you feel at home. Definitely recommended!!

We had an excellent trip. Online booking was a breeze and check-in was very easy. The staff was friendly. We couldn't have asked for a better day.

We've been going there for years. It's hard to put a price on an honest business that provides an amazing experience. Avoid any other campgrounds in Mongo. Trading Post is money well spent.

This was my first experience kayaking and. It couldn't have been better. It was SO much fun! We are already planning our next visit.

Been here several times over the past few years. Love it. Although this trip had significantly more obstacles (trees/stumps) then previously. Took the 13 mile course and it took 6 hours to navigate. Definitely a workout!

Do yourself a favor and come here. The kayaking is fantastic and they offer various trips for all levels and desired lengths. Good equipment and the river is fantastic. I will say beware of the dreaded Mill pond. It is quite a paddle on slow flow/windy days. The campsite is intimate and well managed. I highly suggest asking for a riverside site. I was happy to see most were tent campers and were friendly and respected quiet hours. My only critique is that showers can get busy and are cramped. Though, it is nice to even have them. Hopefully in the future they can be expanded. The staff is fantastic and a pleasure to talk to. The family that owns the business are a super nice husband and wife team with passion for the business. I will say there was an issue with our site mates and some other campers at the showers. It was a bad situation, but the owner handled it perfectly and promptly kicked out the offending party. You will love the small town atmosphere of Mongo, and a truly fun/relaxing experience. The place is by far the best in Indiana. Book it!

This place is run by people who truly care about what they do. They make a strong effort to keep their river clean and it pays off!

Arrived 12:45 on Saturday for icecream. However, such a cool spot, We took a dbl yak out instead. Great location on the river with tons of gear. Has camping available... call ahead. 1.5 to 4.5 hr trips. Beauty day with a nice breeze. Anyone can do this trip...yes u to grandmother. You'll love it.
Go back 4 sure....

We love kayaking with them. All of the staff make it fun and provide great customer service!

Always have a good time. However, today got 30 min out on our kayaking and it started raining. When we were checking in they said, "hold on, it may rain.". After waiting 2 minutes they said all good. Wjen we got back I as if we could get a rain check. Nope. 93 bucks 30 min!

A magnificent experience. My friends and I go each year and it is an experience that is food for my soul. Hoping to make it again this summer.
The staff is very accomodating and friendly. Try to carpool, with their popularity the parking goes quick.

We went on a Wednesday, a group of 7. We had an amazing time. I'm already planning out next visit. The staff here was very friendly!

This is a great place for camping and a paddle trip! The staff were very friendly and accommodating, I requested a large capacity kayak before I went and they provided one. We also requested a camp site by the river and they provided that as well. If you make a reasonable request before you go I'm sure they will do their best to provide for you! The river is also a great trip, me and 5 others went on their Refuge Bridge trip and it was fantastic! I highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in doing something like this.

We had a great time on the river and everyone was really helpful (trip 11Jul2020). There was one employee at the 5:30 pick up (Curtis Creek trip; the only male employee at the pickup) who was very cranky and rude. I get that they have a scheduled pick up routine, but there's no need to be rude. Just move on with your schedule. Won't let that stop me from going back.

Check in was super easy and didn t take long at all. The river was clean and the equipment was in great shape. Everyone had a fun time!

Water level was a bit low. But it was still super fun.

the kyacking trip was fantastic the staff was super friendly and wait time was very small in the office there groceries and coffee was priced well for a campground ...the only thing that's needs help is the bath house and restrooms there too small and not informative for as many campers as they had there...they had a sold out weekend and I hope they have many more I plan to go back next year

Love the scenery on the river and very relaxing. Large groups should be weary of being bunched up as there is an obstacle course of trees to navigate.

Weekends can get quite crowded, go during the week for a more relaxed time. Nice little campground on the river, wonderfully staffed and a great scenic canoe or kayak experience.

More expensive than their competitor and camp sites are smaller but if you don't care about spending the extra money and having a smaller site , this is a good place.

It was a wonderful experience. The staff was more than helpful. The lady in the office really made our experience personal by remembering our names and such. They made sure our safety was a priority by posting signs everywhere about the tree that was down from the storm. Quiet hours are from 11pm to 7am. Saturday we drank but respected the quiet time hours. Sunday had some new visitors that didn t respect the time, although the gentleman on the golf cart most likely addressed the situation multiple times, they were still loud among other things I m not sure this is the best scenario for children and they are kind of hard to get by phone yet they do call you back.

Need more showers. Or better yet offer water with electric. But over all its s good place, will be back next year

Facilities were lousy, and in some cases, filthy. Park is good for self contained, and river travelers. Otherwise, keep looking.

I love the outdoors and needed some prices on renting a canoes and campsites. The staff were nice ,they were very good. Answered every question. Thankyou!

So nice to show up and be catered to! No more loading up our own boats. Our group had a blast . Next time we plan to camp also.

We have a large group of 70+ friends who camp (both RV/tent) & canoe every summer. We enjoy it, sun or rain. The staff are always excellent to work with. All are helpful snd the owners check on how our experience is every year. (Just wished they had another set of restrooms & showers for the tent campers.)

Great river to canoe or kayak on. Prices are getting a little high, but still worth it.

We love Kayaking here. They take you to the destination an you kayak to another an they pick you back up.

While the river experience was great, we had rented a water-tight box. The box ended up leaving quite a bit of water and some electronics were ruined. They took down our name and number to call once a manager had tested the box. We called the next day and the manager had no idea what we were talking about and didnt even have record that 3 out of 4 of our party were even there! They don't number the boxes so the box got mixed with the rest and they pretty much said we were SOL. They also said this has happened before.
If you are planning to visit, make sure you bring bug spray and sun screen. There are also some HUGE fishing spiders on the river that may climb into your boat.

yes, we had 4 in our party who all filled out the waivers. I know it was Trading Post. We parked in the grass. Had to go out of the river to go around the dam. Saw the campground. Took the little bus. Obviously, some of your staff aren't recording things properly. While it was a holiday, everything should be recorded. What if a member of our party got hurt or lost? Would you just say "oh I have nothing here from them. oh well."??? And where on the box is the number? All i saw on there was a piece of paper that said it was property of Trading Post. I looked specifically for an ID number because I figured it would get forgotten and mixed with the rest or the boxes.

You told us that you only had BRANDON on file. I was sitting right next to Scott when he gave you all of our names and could only pull up Brandon. Editing your review to remove your comment about about how you only put the leader in the system is very misleading. You said you only put the leader in. Now you say you put the whole party in under a leaders name. Show me the box numbers. I did look. "if there was any issue... we would find your records and act upon the situation immediately." We had a situation where a lot of valuables were ruined and you guys didn't even know what we were talking about when we called in! Obviously notes weren't kept and neither were our forms put in until after we pushed the issue. I know the box was latched because I unlatched BOTH to see several inches of water in the bottom. You guys have our info. Or, you should if you properly recorded it. You can contact me. I will only speak here in the view of the public.

Owners and staff are some of the nicest campground staff that we have ever encountered. We had a great time and are planning to return soon, six out of five stars.

Great spot to pop a top. Not a great spot to pop a squat. A single porta potty for at least 5 spots is not enough, but we still had a great time.

Everything about this place is the BEST.

The customer service: the owners are so friendly, kind, thoughtful, and go out of their way to make your experience awesome. Due to some trip issues, we ended up coming an hour and a half after our reservation time. One of the owners stayed at the shop long past closing in order to ensure that we could still take our trip.

The equipment: well-maintained, easy to use, thorough instructions provided.

The river and the view: I can't even. This is the most peaceful, serene, relaxing, rejuvenating experience. My husband and I took our three wild boys (15, 11, and 9 - all first time kayak) and they highly enjoyed their trip and even stopped arguing and fighting for the 90 trip duration!
