Scouted this campground/kayak canoe rental and loved it at first sight.

People moving around and busy getting into the water. The campground is on the small side but cozey and friendly. A bit pricey but worth it.

Our stay was great. The people coming and going was fun to be a part of. In the evening was just as fun. People enjoying the outdoors and and eachothers company.

We will be back for an annual visit from here on out.

We recommend this to all the river enthusiasts. You can paddle right up to your campsite!!!

Enjoyed a 2 day camping/canoeing trip with them. Campground is very inviting with river side views, easy check-in, large mature tree shading and clean restrooms and shower facilities. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Definitely a repeat destination.

I always have a great experience here. The people are awesome and they help make for an equally awesome experience. Our most recent trip was a jam-packed weekend with all trips sold out... they were short staff and STILL rocked it in terms of service and adventure.

I rented from them for the first time yesterday. They were very organized, even with the COVID changes. Every staff member was pleasant to deal with. I've rented from other places before, but I will definitely recommend Trading Post to all of my friends!

Had a wonderful time over Memorial Day weekend at the Trading Post. All of the staff was very welcoming and they had everything I needed. The campsites are great with large tall trees and overlooking water. Very peaceful - I will be back to float the Pigeon River next time.

As always, our time at the Trading Post and on the Pigeon river was fantastic! The place is very professionally run. The sign-up process is organized and quick! The canoes are in excellent condition. The time on the river is always filled with great adventure - turtles, frogs, snakes, river otters, etc. And the pick-up was timely. This place has been an annual trip for my family and will continue to be well into the future. John L.

Directions were very unclear on what time we needed to be there for our trip. When checking in the girl at the front desk could not answer any of our questions, was very frustrating and did not understand why she is working check ins if she is so confused and lost. Was given a time crunch to get back to leave for our trip, but then waited 20 minutes because they didn't have a driver ready to take us. Was also randomly charged $12 dollars the next day for "leisure activities" but wasn't even able to stay the night since it down poured on our tent, which was in the smallest campsite I have ever had. Tent might as well been touching the strangers tent next to us. Best to take your own kayak or canoe down the river and not camp with this company.

So very crowded place expensive 6 people paid $164 for two nights our neighbors had two sites 8 people paid 180 i don't understand it either? The only attraction is your right on the river

We had such a great experience here! The staff was so friendly and accommodating every step of the way. We spent one night camping here and kayaked down their river. The camp was clean and the only negative item was that the 11pm quiet hours weren't enforced for our neighbors. Kayaking from Refuge Bridge was very pleasant, it's an excellent river for slow paced kayaking. We plan to return for kayaking another time.

There are only two registers going. One for walk in appointments and the other for reservations. If you don't have a reservation, go an hour early to beat the lines. Otherwise it is a great time. Highly recommend the kayaks.

This place is an amazing place to either bring family, or make it an adults only trip. To be able to camp, and then kayak all the way down the river back to your campsite makes it a really enjoyable experience.

Was ok, but the Mongo River Run offered more. Trading post won't allow you to bring your dogs, and they charge you $7 more for a middle rider. Save your money and go-to Mongo River Run for your canoeing.

canoeing/kayaking was good. camping bad refunds only available if you cancel >11days prior to camping. so if you spur of the moment camp and something horrible happens like me you cant get a refund. i was there for 6hrs and left and didnt get a refund.

The river was wide and seemed recently dredged. So much wildlife. I lost track of how many turtles I saw (30+). I also saw 2 fawns, 4 geese, many birds, and lizard. Beautiful and scenic and not busy at the time I was there. We were picked up promptly when we got to our last stop.

My family and I have been making the trek for a week long camping excursion at the Trading Post for a few years now. We live in Indianapolis and it s a great get away from the city. The Trading Post is following all the current Covid guidelines and it makes for a comfortable / safe trip for the whole family. The weekends are super busy, so plan ahead and book your trip online. You can even complete the waiver online. Then stay for the week after everyone cuts out from the weekend and enjoy the nature all around you.

This place is awesome and the paddling on the river is different every time.

We went on a kayak ride which was fun. Beautiful scenery and peaceful for the most part. Honestly, I would like to see a little more control over people drinking and smoking pot otherwise I would advise against taking children along.

We blindly picked this place of the internet and I'm glad we did. It is a great camp ground if you like to kayak, canoe and/or fish. The kids had a great time as did my wife and I. Only down side is the sites don't have water but there are spickets close by and every site does have electric which is more important in my book. Definitely book a trip on the river while you are here. We had a good time and plan to go back. The couple that own it are very nice and hospitable.

My 2nd time camping/canoeing here and it's been a great experience each time! People are very friendly and everyone is out there to have fun. Can get a little loud sometimes at night, but most groups seem to keep to themselves and are respectful of other campers.
Overall, if you're looking to have some drinks and do some tailgate type camping - this place is for you! If you're looking for a quiet getaway and don't want to be bothered by other people, I'd suggest finding another campground - the sites are tightly packed and there are people drinking all day/night.
Last thing to note, canoeing is great! Done the 13 and 16 mile trips, there's some minor obstructions like trees and sandbars, but nothing an experienced canoe/kayaker couldn't handle.

Fun time, Camp sites are a little to close. 12 mile canoeing will whip your butt. Overall had a good time except for a particular smell in the air here and there. Camp sites need cooking grates also. Had to spend $15.00 at the camp store for a grate. What's up with that? Oh, yes to get your $$$$

We reserved an electric tent site for four people a couple months ago and were told that almost all the river side sites were open. When we arrived someone was parked on our site. Our site was downhill and made for an inclined sleep. We would have rather been in a flatter site.
The TP was mostly friendly and accommodating. The drop off for kayaking was on time and easy to follow directions. The 13 mile trip was amazing with only two Portage spots. Quite a bit of trash was in the river from people who lost beer cans or flip flops mostly. Sad to see such a beautiful river being destroyed by irresponsible vacationers.
It would be nice if someone kept up with all the fallen trees and moved them out of the river.
As for the Trading Post, my biggest recommendation is having more than 2 showers and more than two bathrooms for such a large amount of people that you can accommodate. Not everyone wants to use port o potties.

Campground is clean and well maintained. The staff is incredibly friendly probably because they have learned from the owners how to treat guests! We always have a great time on the river. I highly recommend The Trading Post. I would give 10 star if I could!

Nothing negative to say about this place. The staff are incredibly friendly and professional, and they work really hard to efficiently manage all of the visitors. We had a moderately sized group and everyone arrived at different times, a few after business hours, and they handled it perfectly. The campground itself offers very spacious lots, plenty of shade, and the kayaks were in great shape. We ll definitely be back! Just maybe when it s a bit cooler.

I've camped all over Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. The Trading Post is my favorite campground hands down. We've camped/fished/kayaked early and late in the season and this place is always well kept and inviting. The owners and staff are all friendly, welcoming, and helpful. If I could give it more stars I would.

Canoeing is nice and the process is smooth and well organized. Campers should note the sites offer no privacy and people are definitely packed in. Very busy spot on a nice weekend in July.

Took my son kayaking here for our first time and it was great from start to finish. Didn't do reservations and still the young lady named Sara helped us thru and got us some kayaks and walked us thru the trip and map. She forgot to charge us and later advised us it wasn't free day yet but maybe after a few times with a card we could get a free day ha ha. And the workers who put us into kayaks and picked us up downriver were also very nice and helpful! So thank you we will be back and I will definitely recommend going there

We had a fabulous time canoeing here. The staff were super friendly and helpful! Our team was Adam, Bridgette and another gentleman that unfortunately I forgot his name, but they were the best. We will definitely come back the next time we're in Indiana! Thank you all so much.

The Trading Post in Mongo, IN, is a perfect provider of equipment and transportation for an afternoon on the Pigeon River. Three trips are available, each with transportation back to the car each hour. Staff is friendly and competent. Delightful afternoon.
