Town of Cary Police Department Review

Thank you to Detective Pearson of Cary PD for calling me back and offering timely information on a criminal justice matter.

I want to thank the officer who came to the parking lot at Cary Ortho and Spine this afternoon, who helped safely get my grandson (who is fourteen and was having a major meltdown) into the ambulance. My grandson was born with severe autism and later diagnosed with a laundry list of other medical issues, including ADHA, verbal apraxia of childhood (he lacks functional speech), etc. Austin went into sensory overload after significant time spent in the waiting room listening to doors open and close every minute or two (he has a fixation on doors). Long story short, his meltdown was triggered by another door and when he couldn't have control of its closing, he went into an uncontrollable rage. We couldn't control him, but the last thing I wanted to do was call the police as my husband suggested, because I saw visions from the evening new flash through my head. I thought it was very possible that my grandson would die before my eyes, such was my fear. But after twenty minutes or so of being unable to calm or contain Austin (except in the hot car with a window ajar), I relented. I was so appreciative of law enforcement representatives easy matter as he consulted with the paramedics about how to get my grandson in position to administer the sedative prior to restraining him to be transported to Wake Med Cary. I'm so sorry I was too distraught to get his name, but he'll remember if he reads this post. To him, I say thank-you from the bottom of my old weary heart!

Really loved them for the past decade and up until recently. They're getting more and more pedantic with their traffic stops. Will update when and if I see an improvement.

If you are looking for a police department that will serve and protect, Cary PD will greatly disappoint you. In my own neighborhood today (Loch Highlands off Kildaire) they put in a speed trap at the bottom of a hill, a mere 30 feet from a stop light. Highlands Bluff is a through street from Penny Rd to Kildaire. Instead of positioning themselves further up the road (where the grade of the hill wouldn't influence speed), they posted themselves in a place where you have to ride the brake all the way down. I merely turned out of my neighborhood, took a right, and coasted for two hundred yards, where they then had an officer with a speed gun present. Oh, and five of Cary's finest cruisers in the side neighborhood.

When I told the officer they should be positioned higher, he responded "Don't tell me how to do my job."

Never received a speeding ticket even though I have been caught speeding at least 4 times in the past 7 years. I am very grateful they decided to only give warning instead of write a ticket and hopefully I learned my lesson and always drive at or around the speed limit. Also very helpful in domestic situations and not quick to make judgments or arrests. I highly recommend the Cary PD. Had been working with them since moving to NC in August 2000 17 years ago.

Update (5/7/19)- really helps with domestic situations in a seriously troubled dysfunctional family. They showed up at our house twice in one day.

Thank you to all First Responders who serve and protect. Cary is known as one of the safest places to live, and these fine men and women are a major reason why. Thank you and please stay safe.

We had occasion to request a visit over the weekend to intervene, counsel and inform in a fast developing family situation. Three police cars parked quietly on our street within minutes, and a quiet, defining visit followed. Officers, led by a member of the CIT team were calm, patient, interactive and definitive as to the law. Their intervention led us to a constructive resolution, in the days following, with a younger member of our family.

I am a single white female who lives in an upscale apartment complex off of Harrison and Weston Parkway. A pissed off ex called the police and accused me of prostitution. Cary PD sent four MALE police officers to confront me in my home with no probable cause and no warrant. Two of these male officers cornered me in my bedroom alone. They had weapons, I did not. I was terrified and desperately wanted to get to the phone to call someone to help me. If you're just going to take a man's word for it and have no proof, then women are not safe in this city.

I called the cops to let them know my neighbor had returned and previous cops asked I give a call if he s ever seen again so I did. The cop that responded said I m a nosy ass neighbor, excuse me for reporting the person who assaulted a child. Do your job or get out of law enforcement.

I was very prompt service. The officer was very kind & helpful.

They were very gentle when they placed the handcuffs on me, and the police cars are incredibly roomy. Overall, very professional. Would definitely get arrested by them again for sure!

Professional courtesy and genuine help last night when I was lost. Gentleman!!!

Purse stolen out of car at my home. More than three years ago. Thugs who stole it used Visa at Walmart and McDonalds - both places have plenty of surveillance cameras. Knew exact time and which store too. Never did anything. No feed back, nothing.

I moved to Cary after 20 years in downtown Raleigh. Been here five years. Cary is a great town to live and work in. It is an active, family oriented community full of good hard working people. CPD seems to be fair and honest. Cary is not an island and is used as a "cut thru" from Durham to Raleigh. Most of the crime in this town is caused by people that do not live here or have respect for their community and neighbors. If these folks fear CPD..Great. Keep up the good work. The real citizens have your back.

Rude and disrespectful on the phone . I asked if this was a non emergency number and the lady was rude and being snobby to me

I wish to thank Cary Police Department that showed up in about two minutes after I set my alarm and did not totally close my door. Random Acts of Kindness! Thank you to the Cary Police Officer who paid for our dinner in the Chick fil a drive thru. Cary Police are constantly serving our community is so many ways and we are so grateful!

I have received nothing but great support from CPD when my family has needed their help and advice. The officers that we have interacted with were professional, understanding, and genuinely interested in helping us resolve the issues and/or find solutions. Thanks.

I am soo tired of Cary police harrasing my boyfriend every time he is out. They will literally follow him to the store, to my job when he picks me up and then they will follow him home. Cary police also pulls him over for no reason but "he touched the line". Like really? I know y'all are trained to say that when there is no real reason to pull people over. Just to harass them. Y'all have nothing better to do but to STALK and HARASS him!! He has no warrants and follows the speed limit. FYI Cary police, it's illegal to stalk.

I would give 5 stars due to Jennifer the dispatcher whom helped me tremendously but the officer that was dispatched didn t even want to step in my home after I asked him to come in so bugs won t fly in.

The officer told me he couldn t do anything and I d have to wait until morning to go to the courthouse.

A man telling a mother that he can t do anything about getting her daughter back home since 11am because child custody isn t in place.

How can a man understand what I could be going through. And yet they still don t know where she is.

The traffic director on maynard is not being thorough with his signaling. Be careful.

I was a stopped today by Cary police In downtown Cary. The police officer said that I stopped on at traffic light but not enough time and turned right. I explained to him that I just picked up my daughter my wife had a bad accident yesterday going to pick up my son from Briarcliff Elementary school and I was on a full day training. Basically I'm under kind of a stress I'm not intentionally would ignore traffic light but I maybe not stopped enough time for him while the road was really clear in front of me. I believe if I was white the case would be different. I have been driving for more than 27 years and he if had looked on his computer he would see that I'm a good driver.

Beware of officer Preston. He is highly aggressive and dangerous.

Thanks for keeping our community safe! Whenever I'm elsewhere in the Triangle (especially Raleigh or Durham), I rarely see a police presence. But that's not so in Cary. I've been pulled over by Cary PD before and the officers have been courteous, whereas when I lived in Raleigh, they were disrespectful.

I couldn't have more respect for the men and women wearing the blue uniforms in all cities. The police in Cary NC do an amazing job and have taken great strides to unify the community through extracurricular events intended to get to know each other and build some trust. The efforts they put forth go on and on, such as a camp my son was recently honored to attend, put on entirely by the resource officers for all the local Cary schools and funded by private donations. I've had the unfortunate need to call 911 a couple times and the response was overwhelming from the first Fireman to arrive to the last officer verifying all went as smoothly as possible. Thank you to all who serve!

We have one of the best PDs in the nation. I have always found them to be respectful and professional. This is a very difficult job and anyone willing to do it should be praised!

They really are excellent and speak to you no matter what the problem is. They seem to respond quickly. we have a great force.
