My association with TISS goes way back to 1969. I joined TISS on 22nd December 1969 as a UGC JRF for my doctoral research. I was in the campus till July 1973, the year I finished my work. Finally submitted my thesis on 19th November 1973 and got my Ph.D degree finally on 5th May 1974. I have very fond memories of my days spent in TISS. The best part has been the enabling enviornment of the Institute which allows people to live their dreams. All this could not have been possible without the enabling leadership of late Prof. M. S. Gore and my research guide and mentor Prof. K. G. Desai. They have played a very important role in shaping my life. I am sure TISSians accross the genarations would agree with me.

Being educated in TISS impacts what and who would you become next in life. This institute always teaches things with humanitarian values. The course work is real life based scenario learning and the faculties encourage students to learn things on their own while doing things. What best way to learn a policy or process by actually using or implementing it in your day to day approach!

TISS offers non conventional courses to students who come from different walks of like. This institute does not informs of you of its legacy, its alumni do that by being a living example of the same.

Each course, each school is unique. This school makes you think and challenge spoon fed schooling style. It reignites the curiosity in its approach of imparting education and pushes the students to learn by asking questions.

There is no correct answer to a social issue or concern. Every one can come up with whats best fit according to situational interpretation (except, pls dont try that while answering theoretical answers).

The life at campus instills sense of freedom of thought, encourages students to build their approaches in humane way and yes, definitely shares the reality bites without sugar coating.

TISS was established in 1936, as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work, the first school of social work in India. It was renamed to its current name in 1944. It was recognised as a Deemed University in 1964 [10] by the University Grants Commission of India. TISS started out as a small institute offering a post-graduate diploma in Social Work, but has since expanded continuously in terms of educational programmes and infrastructure (see list of programs). The first director of the institute was Clifford Manshardt, who aimed to establish a post-graduate social work school of national stature that would engage in a continuous study of Indian social issues and create meaningful interventions.

Over the years, the Institute has, among other thrusts, made a significant contribution to policy, planning, action strategies and human resource development. It has done so in several areas, ranging from sustainable rural and urban development to education, health, communal harmony, human rights and industrial relations. TISS has earned recognition as an institution of repute from different Ministries of the Government of India and various State Governments, as well as international agencies such as the United Nations, and the non-government sector, both national and international.[citation needed]

But you know what, it's not at all problem; because they don't care.
They don't care about you, me or any student for that matter.
