Tin Mill has a garden/patio area which is safer then being inside with a lot of other people. I really like German beer, so this was just the place for me. If you are looking for a light American beer this is not the place for you. They do serve wine and a few mixed drinks, the food is finger food in nature, i.e. pizza, burgers, fries, onion rings, pretzels, fried mushrooms, and fried pickle spears. The downside to Tim Mill is they always seem to try to run the place short of staff. Yesterday (Friday, June 19th) was very busy. There was only 2 bartenders and a cook. Yup, made for long lines for beverages and closing out your tab, and long waits for the food.

This was a good micro brewery in Herman. I have only been a couple of times and it wasn't crowded at all but I was there in the afternoon. I got a flight of beers which I thought was a good amount of beer for the price. this first beer was the skyscraper which is a crisp, light refreshing beer. Some people might thing it was a little to close to making love in a canoe but I liked it. Next I had the Red Caboose which was pretty good Amber lager. They were changing the keg or something on the wheat beer but I had had that the night before at there restaurant across the street. I'm a big fan of wheat beer in general but there First Street Wheat had to much clove for me. Because they were out of the wheat I had a Cranberry Radler instead and it was good. Next was the Midnight Whistle which is a dark beer with roasted malt. I don't like super dark beers, but I liked this one in fact I would say this is the best dark beer I've ever had. I tried the Chipotle Lime Rauchbier because it sounded like it was different. I like lime in general and I put a lime in my corona but this was to limey even for me and I could really taste the Chipotle but my mouth wasn't on fire afterwords. So this beers is tastes as advertised and is well named but I don't think I could drink a full glass of it. Lastly I had the cider and it was good. I should also mention that there 1836 root beer. My Nephew loves root beer and last summer I bought 14 kinds of root beer and we had a blind taste test and 1836 won everyone picked it number1.

tl;dr, the beer without Chipolte is good. They have the best root beer.

We have visited this establishment every time we visit Hermann. We really enjoy the laid back atmosphere, the music, the food, and the beer. We're always fond a style/ flavor of beer to bring home with us. The food is beat food bit good solid food for a good price.

Great Taste Beer ! love it. may have some more food options and feel lil expensive.

My third visit after a year really Disappointed about the business policy and behavior of the staff and generosity is gone and is more focusing on Money hate to give this review but this is what it is.

Crazy thing is for beer sampling flight rather then we choose the beer they choose what you have to drink ... Terrible ... Sorry.

Delicious food, great beers brewed on site. Prices are amazingly low for good quality foods. Toasted ravioli was amazing. BBQ pork and brisket were scrumptious, and brisket was amazingly moist and tender. Also have growlers and cute can-your-own tall boys available.

Excellent! Our 2nd visit and it was as good as 1st! Great prime rib sandwich with au jous and a homemade horseradish sauce. Companion had a nice house salad, homemade ranch and French onion. She had a glass of semi-dry white wine and I had a red amber beer. Both are produced by affiliated entities. We will be back again!

I am a "local", and come here often. This place has gotten better and worse with time.

Great outdoor seating is welcome for dogs.
Good food (though expensive during the ever-growing tourist season).
Beer is both bad and expensive (even out of tourist season, where they REALLY jack-up the prices, and charge a cover fee).
I've returned several 6-packs of their beer, and each time have received similar response, such as "We've a new bottler." or, "We just started pasteurizing."

The one star is for three reasons:
A) even their lightest beer is too "thick", and stank of acetyl.
B) the tall bartender is a nervous-type, and can be an overly crabby jerk.
C) They don't offer Budweiser, or other drinkable beer (which I'd gladly pay "city price" for, as I like the outdoor patio, and meeting all the city folks, who are invariably friendly.

We tried to have dinner here last night, party of 11 that came in at 8:15, and were not welcomed at all. Some of my party over heard the waitresses talking rudely about having to take our party so close to closing time. You close at 9 on a Saturday with a wine tour festival in town for the weekend. We were absolutely disgusted with how we were treated and the fact that it was 8:15 on a Saturday and we were made to feel like we were the inconvenience.

If we ever come back to Hermann, we would not be coming back to the tin mill or recommend it to anyone.

We hosted a business dinner of about 30 people the other night. The service and food was simply amazing. I own my own restaurant and was impressed with the professionalism and with accommodating to our desires. The interior is simply breathtaking. A must see.

This place doesn't deserve a star. We had a terrible experience. I couldn't believe how we were treated by the management. The beer was overpriced and the service was lousy. I'm not a one-time tourist but rather a resident of the Hermann area. I'll be sure to tell others not to patronize the Tin Mill.

The location is beautiful and the food was fantastic but non of the staff presented themselves as happy and welcoming. They appeared to be doing their job on autopilot. To me this represents a defect in corporate culture. If you are looking for an overall enjoyable dining experience I would suggest that you try one of the other venues in Herman

Excellent as always. In my opinion one of the best overall dining experiences in Hermann
Vickie (the Manager) went out of her way to make our group of four was taken care of. Clean, prompt friendly service w a fair price! You won't be sorry!

Came down for the Christmas time to check out Herman and decided to try Tin Mill Brewing. Went to Tin Mill Restaurant first by mistake and Chef Eric personally led us in the right direction. Very unexpected and earned high respect for him taking the time to send us to the brewery.
You order your beer and food at the bar and the buzzer lets you know when your Food is ready to pick up.
Beer flight was really good! Plenty of choices and would highly recommend the gin and tonic from the tap.. unexpectedly good!!
Food was good; brat with kraut, cheeseburger, and pulled pork. Pulled pork had too much fat and didn t expect it for 17 hours of smoke time, but it was delicious.
Only concerns were the ambience and wish the cook would have trimmed the food before serving, otherwise a full 5. I would rate it as a 4.5 if option!
Would for sure be back!

We only tried two of the beers (tasting was forbidden because of the pandemic ...) so our perspective is limited. But the two beers we had weren't very good. The hefeweizen was no where near a true hefeweizen. The beers tasted artificial to us. Nice atmosphere, nice outdoor seating area.

Relaxing place to grab a cold beer. There is seating inside or nice setup in the back outside.

Sampler flight is nice way to start if you like beer and variety. Think you get something like 6 total beers(4 year round ones they use each time and 2 of your choice if I believe correctly). At worst if you want one full size beer and not sure what you want they will give you a real small sample if you ask. They have year round beers and also some seasonal ones. I have never had anything other than beer here but they have some local wines in the cooler and make a few mixed drinks.

They have pizza, some sandwiches, some snack foods, etc. I have never ordered more than a pretzel and cheese here. It was delicious and along the lines of $3.50! (Heads up if you walk across the street to Hermanhoff Winery and get the same thing it is double digits. Weird because I think the same people own both)

Just reading a few reviews. They also own the Tin Mill Steakhouse across the street(never been but heard overpriced). A number of reviews complaining about the food is at the Steakhouse not this Brewery. I know some of them are for the brewery but seems like half of the reviewers aren't putting even at the right place.

Two stars only. The beer is good, but not unique. The food was absolutely horrible. The chicken came out rather raw in the middle (looks like they are deep-frying frozen chicken without heating up their oil all the way). The only place I saw around to sit and have a few beers. Just avoid the food.

We did not go to the large restaurant but rather the small brewery.

We really liked this microbrewery. The gentleman that greeted us at the bar to begin our flight tasting was very friendly. I liked that they have a variety of beers including a dark. It was also very nice that they offer a tasting of the gin and tonic from Pickney Bend distillery. I believe they had it on tap. It is also DELISH!!

Our favorite was their seasonal lime beer. It was unlike any lime beer we have ever tasted and it was fantastic. We would have bought two cases to take home with us but they do not bottle their seasonals. We were so disappointed.

I liked the fact that had I been there with some of my girlfriends that do not like beer that they have a nice variety of mixed drinks to choose from as well.

We also had their pizza. My husband got half sausage and I got half of their artichoke, chicken, and bacon. The pizza was delish! It is cozy inside and they have a large area in the back for seating as well. We chose to sit outside in some of the chairs they have out front and watch the tourists pile into Hermann off the train.

We highly recommend this microbrewery. If you are in the town of Hermann, give it a try.

A friend and I visited tin mill yesterday. We arrived mid afternoon on a Wednesday and found only 4 others there. We tried their dopplebock and brown ale. Both were tasty and true to style. We had their pulled pork sandwich and fries. Again both good. The pulled pork was very tender. We took a tour of the brewing equipment and each bought a brewery shirt. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend this brewery to fellow craft beer drinkers visiting Hermann.

In December (the off-season for Hermann): The menu was limited (pizza, brats, nachos). The beers were all solid (seasonals: pumpkin & oktoberfest), but nothing too adventurous. The beers are all high session (easy drinking). Make sure to go to the Rhythem and Brews Beer Festival across the street in mid-June.

Got here about 530, there was a grumpy guy behind the bar that said he was a "volunteer", poured our beer and proceeded to walk out the front door. Wanted to order a soda for myself but no luck. The cook was left to bartend and cook. We were able to order the pretzels which were good. However receive a 1 star rating due to the grossly inadequate staffing at dinner time as well as the grumpy "volunteer".

Not very friendly folks working here for a new person it s a little difficult to figure out you have to order at the bar, you order food at the bar as well, carry a pager and pick it up yourself. The raviolis were meh.

Don t expect any service and very little hospitality. Beer is ok.

Atmosphere was cool and the beers were decent but the service was very slow and the food was mediocre. The burger is a frozen patty and was served with a max of 10 fries for $13. We received our bill and were charged $15 for the burger vs. $13 which is listed on the menu.

The place has a completely different menu than what's listed online as well. I wouldn't personally recommend for the food.

Service was slower than molasses on a cold day. We were finally tucking into our food an hour and a half after being seated only to be sorely disappointed by cold, soggy, "I've been hanging out under the heat lamp for 30 minutes" entrees. I will say, that left plenty of time for indulging in spirits on empty stomachs. Our party of 8 had lots of loud, obnoxious fun. Staff was quite tolerant of our antics. For this reason only, they get 2 stars rather than 1. Tin Mill, you have some delicious brews. I'd hate to see you end up closing your doors. Do better.

Well, it was an experience. The food and beer were very good, normally something I would given 4 or 5 stars to in spite of the earnest but confused service. However, the couple having sex in the men's restroom and the yelling match, looking likely to become a fight, between the staff and what we supposed to be a drunk or drugged patron rather trumps the good stuff. Sorry, but just wow.

you wouldn't think you'd find a craft brewer in the middle of Missouri's wine country and yet you find tin mill.
they're easy to find just shy off 100 on the east end of town.
they have a seasonal selection that's supported by a few mainstays along with some typically beer grub.
You find yourself in Hermann for a event or just driving though make sure to give them a stop by

Sept 2018...Night before the wedding...our group but came in gradually (which should have worked since you have to order food at the bar)...bad idea...they couldn't handle it even though they knew months in advance. Cook was drunk or high and couldn't do his job...and why only 1 cook when you know a group was booked? Many people didn't even get their food...and they didn't seem to care...at...all! This place has so much potential but the staff is killing it's rep! Hope they pull it together!

They have a great selection of beers. I have yet to find a beer here that I didn't like, although the Kirsch and Res Caboose are my go-tos. The atmosphere is great, fitting of the name and the food is great too.

So, this place has good food and awesome outside seating, but the beer can really be hit or miss. Seeing as this place is a brewery, the beer is pretty important. I've been here quite a few times, and have had beers that were awesome, and some that tasted like detergent mixed with liquified bread. I want to like this place more, but their brewers could use some quality control training.

This place is AMAZING!!! The lobster Mac & cheese is TO DIE FOR! I have been to this establishment a few times now since they reopened with the new chef and it will not disappoint. Really great atmosphere and even better food! Definitely recommend if you re visiting Hermann! You have to get a White Pearl at the bar for dessert! Hands down my new favorite place to eat in Hermann!!

I witnessed and confronted a man who walking around assaulting multiple women in my group by grabbing their asses. To avoid a brawl, I brought this to the attention of the bouncer along with victims to remove the offender from the bar. The bouncer did nothing, the staff did nothing, the owner did nothing, and they each told us to drop the issue. Perverts exist and that isn't the problem. The issue is that the staff and owners SHOULD NOT tolerate this type of behavior, but they did. I am disgusted by the bar and any man that has respect for the women in his party should avoid this place in the future.

This place has changed a lot!! We used to love to go here but management has changed and needless to say, it's not for the better! They had a terrific German club sandwich that was popular and inexplicably replaced it with a bad reuben-type sandwich but still call it the German club. Yeah, don't order it! I tried the tacos. They came out with all the toppings on top of 1 tortilla (barely enough smoked chicken for one tortilla much less for 2 of them). The other tortilla was underneath the whole mess-so much for finger food! All the prices have been raised significantly. This is your place if you want a bad $12 sandwich!!

I showed up here on a beautiful spring day, and they had 1 of their own beers on tap. Kind of disappointing. The Hefeweizen was decent but they had Shalfly and Fat tire instead of their beer.
On top of that I didn't think they were really friendly. I told I brew beer and he was like ok u can look at the equipment through the windows.

Waited 40 minutes and finally got our salad. Never received our appetizer or drinks! The owner excused this saying they were hit all at once...tho there were only 6 small tables eatting and several staff members standing around!

This place is a nice space to relax and listen to live music. I'm a big craft beer fan and I'd rate their beer as decent but not great. Overall it is worth going here but don't expect to be blown away by the beer.

I visited Tin Mill Brewing last Thursday evening and requested a flight. When I asked for a very small taste (NOT a sample size) of a beer, I was refused by the female server. I ordered my flight regardless and ended up not liking, nor drinking, the beer in which I had requested the taste. Upon leaving the establishment, I asked the manager why they did not offer tastes (literally, a foam taste) of beer. His reply was that "no one does that..." He must not ever leave Hermann, because all microbreweries across the entire United States offer a taste, as good service, to their customers who request one. The manager was very rude and made this customer feel completely unappreciated. I will never visit this brewery again after the way that I was treated. It is very sad that they lost a customer who merely asked for a sip of foam before they made their beer selection.
