No better place to end a day hiking to and from Mirror or Trillium Lake. They might not ACTUALLY have the best beer in the world (it is pretty good, though), but after a few hours walking through the silent snowy trails, it sure seems like it.

The history of the building is very interesting, and I recommend taking a few minutes to take in some of the history through the ground floor installations/movie. You might not notice that all the furniture doesn't seem to have any metal hardware, and it is fun to find out why.

Jan 18, 2018 Skiing was like spring, snow for really slow after a few hours, but it was tons of fun! Lower runs are not steep mostly cruiser runs. Grooming was better than most other resorts in the area.

You can't beat the views or the ambiance. Alpine feel, gorgeous scenery. The food in the dining room was fine, served by enthusiastic and polite young wait staff. Certainly worth the trip.

Definitely once in a life time experience. You are thrown back in time with magnificent view of valley and the mountain. The food and drinks are amazing. Staff was so courteous and gave pointer about the local area. We had great conversation with other guest sitting my the fire place. Multiple bars and food option inside one building.

Absolute treat. The room was cramped, but every effort was taken to make it better. From the ultrasonic device that drives away bugs, to the wonderfully soft bed, my complaints melted away. The scenery is gorgeous, as is the lodge itself. The food is unfortunately overpriced, but tasty nonetheless. And the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful all the time. With year round skiing and tons of hiking, the lodge is a fantastic getaway worth getting snowed into.

What an amazing place! The hot chocolate in The Boar's Head is stunning! Absolutely, take the ski lift up the mountain, though. Fantastic views from up there, but make sure you bring a jacket.

The Clam Chowder had the largest clams I'd ever had in a chowder. The Hot Chocolate is a must. If you can book the FDR room. My favorite room with continuous logs for your fireplace. We are so fortunate to have Timberline.

The service they provided for the star party was very considerate of them and generous. They helped make the event easy to find, and gave us food and drinks and a place to while the event happened. It was pleasant and made a bunch of people happy with their supportiveness

The lines were very long but moved quickly, except for the rental line. Took us two hours to get through the rental line. Definitely rent before you come up. Otherwise, great place to ski, we all had fun.

Loved the place. Nice rooms with a big bathroom with amenities (soap-lotion-shampoo.The lodge is very cosy with interesting history. The beds are not that comfortable and you can hear people in the hallway. Restaurants are good with very tasty food.

Amazing lodge, however the employees of the gift store at the day lodge are very rude and uninviting.. I do not recommend buying ANYTHING there; do not waste your time. (Please do not forget your gloves, hats, warm clothes, etc) there are plenty of other places you can also stop on the way up to Timberline, where people would love to help! I am not sure if the employees at the lodge are younger, but they definitely lacked SIMPLE customer service..

The lodge itself is gorgeous and historic. It'll cost you a second mortgage to stay there, but day trips are nice. The down side is the crowds. On a weekend ski day, holy buckets be ready for traffic and people. And not exactly the high culture variety of people--more the sunglasses on the back of their head/giant, mis-parked dualies/"Keep Portland Weird"/I sweat granola and Rock-Star types. Not mean, just not the kind to ponder the depths of mankind. The snow is good for sledding if you hike a few feet from the parking lot. I've heard the skiing is good, but the crowds deter me too much to try.

Historical and fun mountain location to visit with information center and pictures. A museum of items and great facilities in the hotel, resturaunt and bar on premises. Great food too, but a little expensive. All in all, highly recommended.

Super-sized staff. Beautiful building. Lots of really cool history, too. The bar at which we ate had good but expensive food. And we were told by the one employee that there were beautiful views of the mountain and the valley. We were then seated at a table with no view. Bad luck/timing, but still.

We spent our 43rd Wedding Anniversary at Timberline Lodge and in spite of the covid19, it was a wonderful experience in every way. People were very friendly, helpful, and all were sensitive about social distancing and making everyone feel safe. It's a beautiful lodge and the rooms were comfortable and clean. We had a fireplace in our room and the ambiance of the warm fire was an added bonus.

Pretty view, but I would not recommend it for sleeping during the winter. The heat is turned up way to high, the shower head was super short, and the water temperature is constantly fluctuating with little bursts of burning hot water.

Did not stay at the lodge but rode the magic mile sky ride that is nearby. The sky ride allows us to get a picturesque view of the neighboring areas. Enjoyed the sky ride thoroughly even though I had a fear of heights :)

What an amazing historic experience from the Pacific North West! Whether a staging or layover spot to hike some amazing trails in the summer or to warm up during or after skiing in the winter, you will leave this place with find memories. Oh, and fo you like good food & drinks? You're in luck!

Did a day trip from Portland for skiing, this ski resort is fantastic. Excellent snow conditions on the day we went, almost all the lifts were open except for the highest one (Palmer) which was under snow storm recovery. The slopes were not too crowded, but we arrived at 8:30, before the official start time of 9am. We were able to find parking easily, and the slopes were easily accessible from the parking lot. There are a good selection of runs and terrain parks, with runs divided into 50% intermediate, 25% beginner and 25% advanced. There are no expert only (double black diamonds) runs. On a good clear day, the view from the top of the Magic Mile lift is breathtaking. It can only be better at the top of the slopes. If you stop midday for lunch, between 11am and 1pm it can be hard to find tables and seats. Food is good, especially the 3-beans chili fries, and there are some healthier options. Expect to pay around $8-15/plate of food and they do take all major credit cards. Our drive to the resort from Portland ward just over 1.5 hours, but the return trip was much worse. Leaving the slopes at 5pm (after the daytime skiing ends), it took us 1.5 hours just to get to US-26 through the only 6 mile road out of the resort. We were stuck in nearly 2 hours of traffic before reaching normal US-26 driving speeds. Total return trip took nearly 3.5 hours. Next time, we'll either aim to leave before 4pm or stay for night time skiing. Overall, we had a great time skiing here and look forward to coming back. If you're new to the Portland area, make sure you get some snow chains or snow for your car. In snow zones, you can be turned away without at least having them in the car with you.

Beautiful drive up to the base if Mount Hood. Absolutely stunning views. We did not stay at the lodge so can't rate the place. People were going to hike at midnight to see the sunrise in the morning from the top if the Mount Hood. Free parking available.

So for a person who doesn't ski, and hates heights, what does this place bring? Well for one, I had to check and make sure there wasn't a room 217 or 237 (depending on your theatrical or novella side of you). The place is a beautiful ski lodge that has a decent enough restaurant and tavern upstairs. Have never stayed there but wouldn't mind a night or two if it wasn't so damn hard to get up to the top during the winter months. 4WD and traction devices would make the jaunt up, but coming back down I would rather avoid. I don't like snow, but will admit I will be staying here one night prior to my departure to the tropics in a few years. Staff is friendly, and although spendy for the night, you get what you pay for.

An extremely lovely building with a rich history. You would not believe the size of the wood beams that make up the structure unless you see it with your own eyes. It is quite an impressive site to behold.

From the parking lot alone you can see quite the impressive sight of Mt. Hood looming over in the distance, some 5,000ft higher with skiers coming down the mountainside even in the summer.

As you travel up the moutainside you get a real sense of the magnitude of the mountain. Scaling the entire thing would be an incredible feat.

This is an incredible resort with trails for days! I would recommend checking the conditions before you go, it was incredibly icy the day that we went which made it difficult to really enjoy the ride. The food in the restaurants was fantastic and I highly recommend getting a Bruno' Brownie hot chocolate at the Ram's Head Bar, it was awesome!

Even if you live in Portland, staying a night or two up here is a must. In the summer, hiking is great and the views are beautiful. In the winter, the skiing is great!! The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and two bars make it easy to get a drink and relax. The pool is heated! The ski hill has runs for all stages of skill, and also has rentals available.

Doesn't matter if you're coming to Hood to ski/board, climb, or just see the snow the lodge is a great option. Cool to see the history bit, there's a free little museum exhibit about when President Roosevelt stayed there on the dedication and also how it was built. Just make sure you poke around a bit!

Awesome place to get away just up Mt.Hood. A couple of great places to grab a bite or a drink. Lots of ski and hike trails, depending on the season. I would definitely take the time to check out this little gem!!!

I grew up on these hills, I love the skiing, but I dropped 2 stars because the food has become pathetic. It is a beautiful, historic lodge. The food was already not great when I left, but now it is in absolute shambles and I recommend everyone bring their own lunch.

If you want great skiing, it is here. Long runs and fabulous trick parks (if you are into that).

Come for the history and skiing, but leave for better food.

We came to Timberline Lodge at the end of February to ensure the snowpack and scenery were still excellent. The lodge itself is very historic and beautiful. We had a great time just wandering around and admiring the building. The Blue Ox bar looked very enticing but we were there on a weekday and it is only open on the weekends. We went to the Ram's Head bar upstairs instead and were not disappointed. The view from our window seat was amazing, the fondue platter and soup was delicious, the cocktails were fantastic, and the service was prompt and very polite.

Beautiful lodge! The fireplace is amazing in the entrance. They have a really nice spot to walk or snowshoe. I don't go skiing or snowboarding so I can't really speak to that. We ate at the Rams Head there in the lodge I highly recommend getting the hot chocolate there was delicious. The prices are pretty steep there so we only ended up getting a drink and then an appetizer. The pretzel with cheese. It was way to expensive, but it was pretty good. The pretzel is big enough for several people to split as an appetizer. This is my favorite spot up on the hood!

I visited Timberline as a tourist, not as a guest. Our visit was so amazing though that we plan to book a room in the near future. Lots of historical artifacts to see inside and outside of the lodge. Staff was very friendly, rooms were still available on the day of our visit, though it was the off season. Cute gift shop, dining options looked fantastic too. I hope to return soon, even though I'm not even a skier!

Lots of nice blues. We enjoy this place with the kids a lot. The staff are kind and helpful.
We once had a misunderstanding on a promotional deal, and their staff made it right, and then some. Great people.
