Make sure to visit the old lodge. Amazing that most of the labor was from the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Make sure to visit the old lodge. Amazing that most of the labor was from the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Nice scenic place with opportunity to ride up the Skilift to 7000 feet. But pack warm clothing even in summer!
Great Service, Great atmosphere , relaxing , Great food ,the drive was good take your time and have fun
Went up for a bit of night skiing - not many runs are open for the night. The weather was not ideal so we ended up getting dinner and drinks which were pretty good. The drinks are good but not very strong. Great atmosphere and staff meant we still had a great time.
Cool place to come hang out even if you re not going to ski or snowboard. Has restaurants and a hotel.
Really neat place to tour and nice views of Mt. Hood
As a native Oregonian, I have been to timberline to ski many times and was incredibly excited to stay the night there. Unfortunately, the service we encountered during our stay left much to be desired. It began with a woman at the front desk informing us that our car, which was parked on the hill, needed to be moved to the lot in front of the lodge. This would have been totally fine, had there been spots available. We had to go outside in the cold and dark repeatedly to check if there were spots available until one finally one was, around 9 pm. Then, after we had gone to bed, the fire alarm went off. This would also have been a relatively small bother, except, our room phone did not work so we could not check with the front desk and when we dressed and walked down, a woman at the front desk (different from the first) was curt and dismissive, and said that it was not her responsibility to inform guests that there was no reason for alarm.
While the hotel service was disappointing, we were very pleased with the Cascade Dining Room and very much enjoyed our food and the sommelier s wine recommendation.
I sent an email to the management after my stay (around a month ago). I have received no response or attempt to rectify the situation.
Good food, well groomed slopes, really good people here.
The views, trails, hiking, skiing, and mountain biking are great. The lodge is always fun to grab a drink but the food is nothing to write home about and is overpriced for the quality.
Great place to hang out for a few days. Good was great and the service was awesome
This is the quintessential ski lodge, covered in snow, filled with thick hand-cut beams, massive fireplaces and charming in every way. The dinning room is great and the food is excellent. Everything just fits from the fixtures to the doorknobs. I cannot recommend this place enough.
The lodge needs better house keeping and maintenance. The Cascade Dining Room expensive for the quality of food , very slow service. Breakfast buffet style but extra for hot chocolate, orange juice and i have to ask several times for toast. Not acceptable for the price of the Breakfast.
Stayed here in a chalet for 2 nights so a group of us could complete the Timberline Trail loop around Mount Hood. The lodge is a cool place, the scenery around here is fantastic. Don't be expecting a modern room with amenities though. No frills room for sure, but bit was fun. We hit up the cascade room for breakfast our last morning which was really good.
Hit all the hidden spaces in the lodge before dining at the last seating. Awesome, decor well worth the viewing and contemplating. The fireplace must come from the center of the earth, it's huge. Reading all the wall hangings was of the most enlightening of experiences. The views were magnificent and fitting for such a grand established piece of Americana. Find The Rams Head and enjoy a cold one, the wander to the top for another.
Cool place with an awesome view. Server at the restaurant wasn't very friendly though.
I love Timberline Lodge. It had been a long time since I had been there, but everything is the same!
Blue Ox is fun for pizza and a beer! Unfortunately, only open on weekends.
One of my families favorite places in the whole world. We used to stay here and loved the pool and other common areas. Today we stopped for a light dinner at the Rams Head. Nothing beats the view. Root beer on tap is a favorite. Chili and clam chowder warms the body after a day in the snow.
Wonderful lodge with great history and iconic views.
Historic lodge in a beautiful place. A bit crowded on weekends.
Best place for a mountain getaway! The lodge is awesome and well priced! The food Phenomenal! The staff super friendly! All you would need and of course killer skiing and boarding. I have been to alot of resorts but this one is one of a kind!
Quite a bit of history here. Rustic but clean. Food was delicious. We had the brunch buffet which was a little pricey. Our server was very attentive though.
This was our second year doing an offsite meeting at Timberline and there is a reason we came back. The meeting room is beautiful (great view of the mountain!) and the sleeping rooms are comfortable. Yes, sleeping rooms can be small, but they are well laid out and the beds are extremely comfortable. Walls are not soundproof, but earplugs are provided, and honestly, once you get past about 10 pm, it is pretty darn quiet. The food was consistently excellent, and our trip up to Silcox Hut is a highlight that everyone in the group has raved about. I am sure we will be back again next year.
Come to the Blue Ox Bar for pizza and hot cocoa! Perfect after a long day of skiing!
A great place to visit for drinks. After drinks hang out in the beautiful lobby or grab a room for the night. Either way the drive to the top of the mountain is going to be a great experience.
I was attending a summer camp the last week of August. I don't understand why they don't make porta potties available to the public at the top of the Palmer lift. It is very time consuming to have to ski down and hike over to where the porta potty is at the top of the magic mile lift. I imagine this is a big issue for the girls attending summer ski camps all summer.
Great for a day trip or to stay. Going to return soon to hike the area.
The price for rental and sky pass are very accessible.
One of my most beloved locations in all of Oregon. A "New Deal" project, that connects me to our shared past. I wish there were more places like this in Oregon.
Once you arrive and park, and you get out and look at the view to over side and the mountain to the other, you soon realise why people love this place.
There lodge is charming, if a little dark. But again, from the balcony the views are special. The main centre building has everything for your adventures.
It has a quaint history which you can read all about. And can get quite busy. But it's definitely something special for the area.
I like the solid log construction and look forward to spending a night there.
I only come here because of work. But I can say that the people that do work there are always nice to me and are helpful. I do vender type of work. They have helped me more then once finding my way around the lodge.
What a magical place! So much history surrounded by enchanting rustic decor, delicious food and drinks and of course, skiing. It was a lovely weeks end stay.
So, I need to start out by saying I didn't go in anywhere or partake in any activities, so my 5 start review is just covering my brief time there walking around and viewing the area.
I had never been to a mountain before and my boyfriend told me this is the place I needed to go, even for just a short trip to know what it's like. It was so cold but I was so excited to get to see snow in May, plus it was beautiful! I didn't start taking pictures until a storm stated rolling in so they don't do it justice.
Beautiful and historic lodge with access to many trails, skiing/snowboarding, and just about all things back country.
Old original amazing beautiful sights and great staff.
Went to the Cascade dining room floor the lunch buffet. $24.75 per person. Good bang for your buck!
The best time ever! The most majestic views and the staff where so friendly and accommodating! I recommend this slice of heaven to everyone!
The surrounding are great, but the lodge itself is in need of repairs. The water didn't always work right and the rooms were far smaller than other lodges. Also the food was overpriced for its quality.
However the heated pool and spa was extremely enjoyable and the staff was good to.
In short if you are interested in skiing and snowboarding this is the place to go, but otherwise there are better lodges. Cater Lake Lodge had better rooms, food, service, and amenities.
Beautiful wood. Historic. Fun for the whole family.
One of the most beautiful humbling sites I've seen.
We loved the timberline lodge, great family park and fun for the kids. Lodge is very cozy and clean.
The lodge was beautiful and very accessible to day visitors. Hiking trails we're well kept up.
Beautiful place. Nice trails and amenities. So glad I hiked here.
Short list lines and friendly staff. A great place to ski or snowboard.
This historic lodge is a must see. Always beautiful and open to the public. Truly one of the nicer places of Oregon history.
Skiers have even more to enjoy with year around skiing and a great day lodge. Beautiful views from a beautiful mountain.
Wonderful historic place. The lodge dates to the 30's but is remarkably resilient and is a working hotel. Certain scenes from The Shining were shot around the Lodge's exterior and may be recognizable, depending on the season. Highly recommended.
I visited in summer there is no ice but it was just an exiting experience.
Snow trekking was great fun . The food & drink excellent.
This is a nifty little nook. The beer was yummy and the folks were most pleasant.
5 stars for the views and beauty of lodge and mountain, did not stay at lodge
Not the steepest runs. The upper chair lift doesn't run, but they include it's vertical.. They do have cat machine access on weekends sometimes, so suppose it's fair enough. They had awesome selection of park tricks and sizes when we were there. There's cyber monday 3 for 1 ticket deals, if you get lucky
very busy summer visit, lunch options in lodge very poor
Had a bad encounter with a rude instructor towards my daughter who was learning to ski that day and he wasn't even her instructor. She fell into him at the bottom of the run and he made a couple of rude remarks while she layed on the ground. She was really shaken up by the whole thing and almost quit. We had a whole week planned on the mountain and this was the first day. My whole family skis and we were really looking forward to her learning and enjoying the sport we love and this guy almost nicked that in the first day. I spoke with the supervisor and he was patient enough with my ramblings about courtesy and how I thought the staff should be more understanding on the beginner's slope. Fortunately, Mt. Hood Meadows was the same distance from our hotel and we finished the week on that mountain where everyone who worked there was friendly and helpful towards our newbie. They helped salvage the week and make a great lasting ski experience for my daughter.
Hidden points of interests for Shining fans and it s an amazing area to view the mountain. Worth visit in summer but I need to come back during the winter!
Beautiful lodge and such a short drive from Portland proper.
Stopped in to see the historic lodge. It has been years since I was here last and it looks like everything has been restored to its original lustre. The food smelled delicious and the amenities looked like they would make for a fun stay. We were inspired to look into coming back for a weekend getaway.
We love Timberline Lodge. I spent my single greatest day getting married at the Silcox Hut in 2012. My wife and I try to get back when we can. Our most recent stay was incredible even if our ski plans were washed out. Our Toddler loved the fire places, swimming pool and petting Hiedi. The Timberline Lodge is most definitely a special place for my family.
We ate at the Cascade Room and the dinner was way below Timberlines standard. This is the one time Timberline failed to deliver. My wife's fish was overcooked and our waiter was awful. That being said, we are planning our trip for next year and can't wait to "shed the flats" with our toddler.
Talk about a view and a half. Beautiful country. The restaurant was ok but priced a little steep what what you get. Great visit when vacationing.
I love going to Mt. Hood/Timberline Lodge, especially in the summer. Was very comfortable there. I was able to escape the Gresham/Portland heatwave for just a day. It was worth it!
Love Timberline Lodge! Conditions aren't as good as Meadows, but the amenities more than make up for it.
Just a review of the trails and Ram's Head Bar/Restaurant.
Had a great hike and there are lots of trails to choose from, though they could definitely use better marking and some trail maps.
Food inside is priced for a tourist trap, but the quality is actually quite good. Charcuterie plate was very good and had enough meat to share with a group of 8 for a light appetizer each. Excellent soup and sandwiches. Excellent cocktails too, their Vesper is one of the best I've had.
Timberline Lodge is one of the most famous places in Oregon. It's beautiful, it's rare, it's tons of fun and it's steeped in history. We love it and we think you should visit anytime of year. Of course having snow all year long (usually) is More
Unique lodge built in 1930 s and featured in the Jack Nicholson movie The Shining . All of the construction was custom made including door knobs, stools etc. Marvelous place to enjoy lunch with stunning views of Mt Hood.
The best lodge I've ever stayed at. Very friendly hosting. Awsom skiing.
Charming. A sweet little escape and adventure. Food is delicious. Bed was cozy and warm. The heated pool was a bit cold. Wish it was warmer but the hot tub was just right.
Very cool, historical lodge. We didn't get to stay here, but the trails and views from the lodge are amazing. Must visit!
Quick trip from Portland. The hotel from the Shining film. Take the summer ski lift up to play in the snow
Absolutely gorgeous setting and interior design. Rustic hewn wood, rought iron detail, and impressive central stone fireplace. Stunning views.
Never disappoints, winter or summer always fun to be there
It was beautiful PTC and Timberline trail enjoyed my hike with Kelvin.
What a nice place! New this "building" from Shining and it was great to visit it. Beautiful architecture and ambiance. We went twice during our holidays, as day guests. Nice start for trails !
We had the breakfast buffet, which was fantastic. After breakfast, we headed out and played in the snow. Great views.
Staff at the giftshop were nice, i showed up for a stargazing event that was canceled. But there was no word from timberline letting people know. Luckily some of the workers knew and were very friendly in letting me know it was canceled.
Great food great service and amazing views it is a must see place
It was second time going to timberline Ski Area and I must tell that I ll be going back again and again. Staff are very friendly, the options to eat are very good and the drinks are amazing
So super cool. As a huge fan of the Shining I was drawn to this site. The true history of the hotel drastically overshadows the movie story. Incredible roots and every staff member that I asked questions of knew their history. I wasn't terribly impressed by the top floor bar, but my family loved it, so I'll let it slide.
Beautiful place. Has the feel of a National Park Lodge.
It's absolutely beautiful! It is a warm, cozy and inviting place to be. The atmosphere is tranquil and relaxing. Everyone who works here is very friendly. There is great food and drink too! One of my favorite places to go for sure.
Great views from the too of magic Mile lift. Worth the $ to experience the view
Many good times up on the mountain here! Always worth getting a fusion pass early before the season starts
After 36 years living in Oregon I finally visit Timberline Lodge. Beautiful day, lots of parking and you can't beat the view.
I was at Timberline Lodge for a private event. Very nice venue. Staff was great! Beautiful location with Mt Hood backdrop. Has some historical info and artifacts on main floor, but didn't have time to really look.
Amazing views, fun lines to ski or snowboard on, not the most terrain, but still fun. Great beer on tap and pretty dang good food for a kind of expensive price. Never had the opportunity to stay at the lodge but Ive always wanted to and have heard great things.
Well arsenal and wolf both scored so that was a tie, beer is good btw, food is okay. Was a bit windy, but lads made it. Pretty lovely experience in a nutshell on a sunday afternoon.
Visited in June and it was pretty good. Park was in decent shape. A little inconvenient to have to drop down to the lodge for bathroom breaks.
