I didn't stay over night I just went for the skiing and for a hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. But this was a nice place to send some time in. Although if you are going because it was where the Shineing was filmed you may be disappointed; only the exterior has any resemblance to what was shown in the movie.

Timberline is my resort of choice because it has a cozy, authentic look and feel. The atmosphere is more of a traditional lodge, with fireplaces throughout the main lodge and the ski/snowboard area for lift tickets and rentals. Other resorts tend to have a manufactured experience--places like Meadows on Mt. Hood or places on the eat coast like Hunter and Killington scream profit margins and efficiency.

I am a snowboarder who is comfortable on greens and blues, and functional on black diamonds. The trails are great for my skill level. If you are into park, Timberline is also your best bet.

If you want more black diamond trails or bowls (which Timberline does not offer), you may want to pair Timberline with Ski Bowl or go to Meadows instead.

We stopped here after a recommendation from a local resident, the arae is so beautiful and the lodge itself is a master piece. We ate a cheese plate and had some drinks at the Rams Head bar and the service, food, and drinks were fantastic. I highly recommend taking some time to wander the whole area. We even went back the next day for a sunset which was a whole event in itself.

Had lots of fun here! The parking lot was huge and well kept. They also have equipment rentals for all ages as well as lessons. One of the ski lifts had some mechanical issues but was fixed we within 10 minutes and working again.

Excellent skiing/snowboarding resort on Mt. Hood. Varied terrain with a good assortment of beginner, intermediate, and advanced trails. Terrain park/snowboard park with plenty of jumps, rails, and opportunity for tricks and big air. Lift operators are friendly and helpful. Lift tickets are still bearable (under $100) for a day pass. My only advice would be to get some covered/bubble quad lifts for those windy days.

The lodge itself is a wonderful structure and a treat to visit. You won't sleep. You're at the mercy of people and their small children who don't get that a lack of soundproofing in the old building means every sound they make is waking the neighbors.
The ski facility will rent you equipment, but the service ends there. We needed a concierge, not kiosks. Had a miserable time and will not be back.

It very much lives up to its lodge name. With many different wood furnishings and historic sights, it is an interesting visit. The season is very important when visiting, as some surrounding features are very dependent on the time of year.

The journey to the Lodge itself is a beautiful experience. As you start getting closer you can see the majestic Mt.Hood. We traveled South of i84 from the Hood River end and it's a scenic route to Mount Hood. Timberline lodge has ample parking , good bar. The dining option is limited and you need to make reservations for it!

My family and I recently visited the Timberline Lodge and Ski Area for some afternoon sightseeing. The staff have done a wonderful job of keeping the Lodge in beautiful, clean condition. Would recommend a trip to Timberline Lodge as a must see to anyone who may be thinking of such a trip. Well worth the time.

Okay. I will admit it. I only go here for brunch. But dang, what a terrific brunch! Best I know of. Not cheap, but a very wonderfully coordinated and serviced brunch. The food is so good, you'll be delighted.

It's the location. The hotel itself is old and nevertheless a must see. So it is worth the drive up to the lodge. The place got even more fame because a part of the movie The Shining was shot here. It is indeed the Overlook Hotel. But the most beautiful thing is the view to Mount Hood.

Awe inspiring views. Great hangout indoors with a great fireplace to hangout around. Rooms on the first floor and secons floors facing the parking lot can be a bit noisey. Recommend the rooms facing the mountain for a more quiet stay. Restaurant over priced but not many good alternatives in the aurroinding area (govt camp included). Also wished the Rams head bar stayed open a bit later. Meals here are a bit more reasonable. Their old fashioned was not served with the appropriate ice cube.

Booked Queen room, and given R228. The kitchen exhaust runs through the walls between R228 and R226. Literally, the walls were hot to the touch. The room was a sauna and would not cool. The staff pretended it was an unknown issue. Had to push for a new room. Verify you are not given these rooms.

This is a a beautiful lodge full of history. Just look at the stone fireplace and you'll see that they don't make buildings like this any more. The food was outstanding. The rooms were nice but we had snow coming in the bathroom window and we could not control the heat -- it was burning hot all night, which made for a terrible night's sleep.

My wife and I stayed over Thursday, we had a nice hike on the PCT worked up an appetite and then had great sandwiches in the Rams head bar. We checked into out room about 3 and then had a wonderful swim in the pool and soak in the outdoor hottub, it was wonderful floating in the heated pool and gazing up at the peak of Mt Hood. The room was comfy and the staff was so helpful, on Friday we took the Mile chair lift to 7000 feet to watch the skiers and hike about above tree line. We took the chair lift down and then I realized I did not have my wallet, the chairlift people said, well ride back up and see it you can find it, no extra charge. Well some hikers up on the mountain found my wallet and the Lift operator Merideth, gave it to me at the 7000 foot level. Well our stay was great and the staff was always helpful. Thanks Timberline Lodge for making my day.

(update)I'm dropping this to one star after I haven't gotten any response back from the hotel about the issue. After spending over $300 for a night they could at least respond to my email.

(standard opening line) I wish I could give more than two stars as it does not at all represent the entire stay but the bed was not comfortable and our trip was cut a little short because of it. I'm pretty sure that we stayed in room 101. The staff and food were fantastic. We stayed here on our wedding night and kept our outfits on hoping for a good picture. The bellboy was super nice and. as our stand in photographer, took some pictures that turned out to be amazing. Unfortunately, the bed was sloping to one side and I woke up at least 10 times during the night. By the time we got up, we decided to just head home instead of spending the morning and after noon on the mountain. The lodge is awesome but the bed was quite bad for the amount of money that we spent for it and I've messaged the lodge about the issue so hopefully they can fix it.

We arrived late at night and parked in the overnight lot to prep for a summit climbing attempt. The 'climber's cave' had tons of useful information about the weather and what was to be expected. Nice to see such a high frequented yet risky area treated with the appropriate respect and diligence. Great weather and new snow made for a nice skin and ski down Timberline's trails

I love Timberline! It's a more relaxed, friendly atmosphere than Meadows and I really enjoy the terrain. There are tons of hidden gems in the trees! I also love the two lodges, the day lodge is usually where I stop to heat up lunch during a ski day, and I love that the overnight lodge has museum!

The Timberline Lodge staff really God above and beyond to make their guests feel carefree and comfortable. The pricing is pretty standard for ski resorts, however the quality is much higher than a standard ski resort. You will not be disappointed and I will definitely be back.

My wife and I were visiting from another state, and our hosts took us here for lunch. We did not have a room and did not ski. The food was very good if somewhat pricey, service was prompt and friendly. Afterwards we all had fun tromping around in the snow outside. It really is a beautiful lodge with giant timber beams and iron details. Definitely worth a visit!

one of the coolest lodges you will see. location and scenery is hard to beat. ski area is very fun but not super challenging. They are one of the only areas open basically year round due to glacier. if you are traveling through the area and do not make the trip up the spur road you missed out.

Timberline Lodge was a beautiful lodge nestled right at the bottom of Mt. Hood with great views of the snow (Palmer Snowfield) and Mt. Jefferson on the other side. The service at dinner was great, a fun variety of drinks and cocktails and the cash bar, and the food was amazing. The horsdouevres selection was fantastic, ranging from goat cheese to bacon wrapped dates, and the salads and coleslaw were the perfect appetizer to corn and bbq ribs. I'll definitely be visiting again soon.

So busy we were not really free to explore the building for to long and decided not to stay. Beautiful scenery even with the smoke from Canada and still worth the drive!

Just came for dinner, lovely food! A little disorganized serving us our pre ordered menu items, they took away our little tickets that said what we ordered (chicken, fish, etc) then got confused when bringing the actual dishes out. Incredible setting! Definitely come early and have a warm, removable outer layer!

What an amazing afternoon adventure, driving up to Timberline lodge. Beautiful sunny day in late September, just as the tips of the brush and trees started to turn red.
We took a leisurely drive to have lunch and explore the lodge. Such a magnificent spot with all the true Oregon history to see. Nice lunch in the Rams Head restaurant with insane clear view of the mountains of Mt Jefferson and Sisters . The Veggie Melt sandwich was pretty good. The service was a little sketchy , with not enough staff. Polite but over worked wait staff. Lots of tourists up on buses for the day. Still not a distraction to the Lovely ambiance of the lodge .
Plenty of parking and great walking trails for all levels . Highly recommend this for a day trip for house guest or romantic getaway for you.

Our son brought us to the lodge while we were visiting in Portland Oregon. The view is amazing I could just sit there and look out the windows for days. We walked up to the lodge watched people ski and set in the bar area overlooking the beautiful scenery having a couple of drinks. This Lodge is gorgeous it's all wood Inside and Out Just Amazing Just to look everywhere. We'll plan on going back staying at the lodge I can't wait. If you love skiing you love let staying in a big log cabin Lodge this is the place to stay.

The drive up to Timberline Lodge is 6 miles from the 26 and winds up the mountain. The views are incredible as you climb to the top. Once you reach the parking lots, there is a terrific view of Mt Hood dead ahead. Trail heads are at the lots and go up the side of the mountain. Prepare for a good hike! Off to the left is the Timberline Lodge from The Shining Movie. It's definitely worth it to get out of your car and walk a trail or go see the hotel.

The lodge itself is beautiful, and the view of the mountain is breathtaking!! I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful view. The staff was always very helpful and friendly.

In my option, the food is a little overpriced. For one dinner I had the steak and while it was good I personally prefer Outback and the price was over double.

At the time of my stay it was "maintenance" season which means that they were doing a lot of work on the place, which is fine but on our relaxation day, having to hear a jackhammer for nine hours while they were working on the hottub took it's toll which tool down the rating.

There is no air conditioning here at the lodge, which I believe they openly tell you, however it seemed like we could not turn off the heat and if you close the windows the room gets VERY HOT which means you have to sleep with the windows open and there are no screens. This issue was actually one of the biggest for our stay, as even my wife was uncomfortable with the heat.

Note, that the walls are extremely thin and you can hear quite a bit of noise from people walking on the stairs, to the cleaning crew cleaning adjacent rooms and people walking in the hall. The lodge attempts to accommodate by providing ear plugs and establishing a quite time in the lodge.

Came here on a nice snowy night for dinner. The price was no joke, but that was expected. They actually served Yak and a lot of other very game-y meals. The food was indescribably good! They were very polite in helping to ensure the food matched our dietary restrictions. Was worth the drive up there as the view was phenomenal of Mount Hood and the lobby of this place had huge fires to sit by. It wasn't a crowded night so we got to explore Room 217 form The Shining. Absolutely wonderful place.

My son and I visited for the first time and had a blast! Wide open runs. Lots of options for beginners and advanced riders with lots of space! Great amenities at the lodge. You definitely want to get there first thing in the morning and start early. Conditions and density of people tend to worsen as the day goes on. Daily lift ticket prices are about where you would expect, not cheap but not overly expensive either. Everyone has their different tastes when it comes to ski resorts but if you never been here, you should at least check it out.

Always incredibly clean and inviting. Warm fireplaces and even warmer staff. Beautiful views and lovely hiking trails. The food is reasonably priced for a mountain resort. I must say as wonderful as it is in the winter, it is just as gorgeous in the summer. A fantastic place for couples and families alike.

Visiting the lodge was like stepping back in time....

Visiting the lodge was like stepping back in time. I can't attest to the accommodations, skiing or snow boarding trails, but there were many happy faces around. I went to visit the lodge for it's views, history and some of the best hot chocolate I've ever had. Walk up to the mezzanine level for some great views of the mountain and order their special hot chocolate which comes with a spoon (peppermint rum is optional, mmm)! The Lodge was built in the Roosevelt era and couldn't be in a more beautiful spot just under Mt. Hood. Go for the activities or go for the views and relax, but definitely go and check out this great spot!
