Took a Les Paul there to find out if I needed to get it refretted. Tim was really upfront, told me all it really needed was to have the frets leveled and recrowned, and a new nut cut. A week later, I get my guitar back and it plays wonderfully. Good price, good work, good turnaround, and a trustworthy guitar tech. It doesn't get much better than that.
Never open. Doors always locked despite having office hours . Appointment only. High prices.
So, my husband's guitar needed to be repaired. We took it to Tim's and well 2 years later we have not gotten it back. We paid them upfront, so I guess they assumed they would just take their time...
beware..... basically stole an american strat from me yrs ago. Had it painted by him. After getting it BK after bout 6 months,give or take.....
The new paint began to come off on my palm. Stop payment on ck. Messed up really bad when took it BK to them to gt it redone. I ended up with the maple neck an he kept the rest. Went BK several days later an they had it painted with a new neck on it up for sale......

This place is never open. Why post hours if you don t follow them. I used to love this place , but I am done going out of my way to find them not open.
Be patient.. you will be rewarded. Tim's a great luthier. We're lucky to have someone with this skill set available locally. Don't rush him.. he's in demand. Best thing to do is pick up one of the Eastmans to play while your baby is in for repairs!
Tim's is the best guitar shop in the city. He has custom built several custom guitars for me that are flawless. Tim has set up all of my guitars to play perfectly. From string changes to refinishing I know the job will always be done right at Tim's.
Great place to bring your guitar plus Tim played me a song on guitar he sounds so great.
I have taken many guitars for many reasons to Tim over the years and he has always done a superb job. There is a reason why companies like Fender, Taylor and Martin trust Tim with all of their warranty work. If you want job done well take it to a pro not just some knuckle head who's working out of a spare bedroom. TIm stays busy for a reason, he has the knowledge, tools, AND experience. You should really only trust your babies to a select few. Tim is in my select few.
Nice people, when you can actually catch them open. Times on the door are more of an ish than actual hours. If you're driving an hour from out of town and trying to avoid big box store center call first.
I've had a number of small repairs with both guitars, tenor guitars and banjos. Tim has always been eager to help and does first rate work. He is definitely the guy to go to for both repairs and sales of guitars and all accessories. And really good prices too.
Not related to his guitar shop but he bought 4 downloadable codes from me on eBay and then scammed me by asking for a refund through PayPal. He is a scammer, beware.
Just visiting Baton Rouge and stopped in to look around. Tim is happy to help his customers. I bought a nice small body Ventura and had a great time with it while I was in Baton Rouge. I'd definitely recommend Tim to others I know.

I trusted Tim to work on a family heirloom of my late Uncle Jim chiek, a 1973 Hardtail Strat that needed a fret job. The strat plays better than I ever remember, and the aged maple fretboard was left in perfect condition. He even cleaned electronics and did a complete setup. Outstanding!!
I've been to Tim's 3 or 4 times now, and I consistently have a good experience. He doesn't get annoyed with questions and is happy to help.
