This is a nice, tranquil setting on Cotopaxi. The national park is 15 min away. It's very high up altitude wise, so take care.

Fantastic place, great view, great food, very friendly welcome and service, recommended
Lovely property with amazing views. It's adjacent to Cotopaxi, so very easy to get some adventure in. Everyone is very nice, but only a few people speak some very limited English. It was pretty chilly, but a space heater in our room and hot water bottles at the foot of our bed kept things pleasant. I agree with another reviewer that the bathrooms could use upgrading (small, drains hold water). They have soap and shampoo, but no other toiletries. They have tea and hot water available all day, but you'll be charged for water and coffee. We had a great massage at the spa, but the jacuzzi water levels were low and the.temperature was on the cold side. The food was generally good (the volacnic stone steak amazing). Overall a pleasant stay in a beautiful location
The location is geographically spectacular, but there is no cell phone signal and the restaurant closes early, if you go around after 4:00 pm, there is nothing to eat ...
Very bad food We ordered a locro which was very badly done. Then some meats that were not in the right term and we asked them to cook more and they brought us the same. The same happened to two more tables. <br/> It's not worth paying such an expensive dish for such a bad meal
Excellent place to rest and develop activities such as horseback riding, bicycle and trekking. The Spa is spectacular and the food is delicious.
A beautiful place near Cotopaxi, what I liked the most is the walk to . Good food options. :)
Meal made of local products, beautiful landscapes, possibility of doing activities such as hiking, mountain biking, horse riding.
My family and I stayed at Hacienda El Porvenir during the violent eruption of Cotopaxi on Friday, August 14, 2015. Jorge the owner and the staff ensured we were kept up-to-date on the status of the volcano and assured us that the location of the hacienda was safe. They all did a tremendous job during a stressful time and I cannot thank them enough for making this a remarkably memorable trip. The comfort of El Porvenir, professionalism of the staff, and nearby activities mentioned by other reviewers goes without saying.
The surrounding landscape is spectacular. It is a farm that offers many activities (which have an additional value), the rooms are cozy and very nice. The price-quality ratio is adequate. 100% recommended.
Great place In a magnificent setting, decorated with a lot of taste. Good Spa Very good food. Recommended for starting point or arrival of the visit to the Cotopaxi Park
Beautiful hacienda with impeccable service. This place is full of charm and small touches (welcome by the fire with a small local tea) It feels like in the mountains. We tasted steak cooked on volcano stone a delight ... A hot water bottle in the bottom of his bed a must
A place to disconnect yourself from the city noise, enjoy the nature surroundings take a good walk and have the chance the admire the magnificent cotopaxi volcano
Despite the bad road, it is worth spending the night in the hacienda El Povenir. If you go from the north to the south entrance to the Cotopaxi Park, you can not miss it. Extraordinary experience. Friendly, helpful. Traditional sauna, baths, wonderful food. Try the break. It was cold. Stove on the wood in the room.
Me and boyfriend took a horse ride tour. We had a little accident when a bike rider went down too fast when we were going up. Our horses got scared and one drop my boyfriend. Fortunately, he didn t felt hard and we could keep going (although we were afraid) On the way back, the guys at the desk asked us to fill a form with the info about the accident and they end up giving the money back for my boyfriends tour. They couldn t do more since we had a doctor let a doctor check if everything was ok. Other than that we certainly enjoyed the tour. We recommend it!
Isolated at altitude, near the northern entrance of Cotopaxi Park, magnificent hacienda with typical charm and obsolete. Access road from Machachi brittle but reachable in 2 wheel drive.
Off networks but fortunately there is a faulty wifi!
Mountain comfort, excellent restaurant just as charming as the rest. Gluten free is very well treated. Original and Ecuadorian dishes.
The fireplace is lit at dawn in the rooms.
Many activities offered, horses, MTB & ballads.
The North entrance offers incomparable views of the Cotopaxi and nearby volcanoes.
A very nice place to walk and see the landscape of the Andes. It's a pity that the giants did not let themselves be seen but all the mountains are majestic and the move is welcoming. They serve very good and traditional food. There are massages, good potatoes and good cheese with corn. The empanadas do not tell and the food in the restaurant is very good.
Super well missed time to enjoy more ... recommended
Cozy hacienda, great facilities, friendly and accommodating staff, amazing surroundings!
Gorgeously located close to the northern entrance of Cotopaxi national park. However, the road to El Porvenir takes almost an hour by car on small bumpy, dirt- and cobblestone roads from Machachi - it's a rough drive.
We had a cozy and clean room, the staff kept the fireplace busy in the evening, and the common living rooms were very nice.
A great variety of activities are offered here, horseback riding, hikes, mountain bike rental and trails, cooking classes in Spanish, the list goes on.
The food in the restaurant varied quite a lot, some dishes were very tasty and delicious, such as the pork and beef dishes, but some of the corn were quite boring.
The facilities include a small spa and sweat lodge. The spa pools were great, but the sweat lodge never got hot when we visited.
Hacienda El Tambo, hostel at 3,700msnm, rustic but of sufficient comfort for adventure travelers, adequate rooms, delicious food and good service. Horse riding options in the surroundings. Necessary to use warm and preventive clothes for rain
Very Nice and charming place, People are very kind and rooms are beautiful ! Excellent experience
Great guides nice location, historic hacienda. We rode up to the top, OK ride for novice riders. Trip about 2 hours.Glad we did it.
Beautiful memories and unforgettable moments with the Lescano Gonsalez family thanks to the invitation
An authentic Andean experience unrivaled in Ecuador. Horseback riding, mountain biking, trekking, spa, and a new and improved restaurant menu. If you've got the time to visit their other properties deep in the Andes, don't miss the chance! This is one of the world's most magical spots!
A small, cozy hacienda, the menu should be expanded and the cost for renting horses is greatly exaggerated.
Excellent delicious Andean food place near the Cotopaxi reserve
Really beautiful and relaxing place. Menu is on the expensive side.
Good place if you wanna visit Cotopaxi, hoke, do horseback riding or mountain biking.
Really kind people who unfortunately don't speak English. Getting cold is not an option because the stove will be on and there are plenty of blankets. There are also plenty of activities provided so you won't be bored either, like horseback riding or hiking. Overall a really nice stay
A fantastic place to relax. Breakfast is very good and extensive. Staff very friendly and almost family. Location on the edge of the national park cotopaxi overlooking the mountain. Room very clean and lovingly furnished. When it's cold you even get a hot water bottle. Dinner exceptionally good at fair prices. It is also possible to ride horses. Highly Recommended!!
Best way to spend a weekend. Horses and other wildlife were beautiful. Food was authentic Ecuadorian, yum...
Perfect place to rest and relax full of peace and tranquility, at the foot of the majestic Cotopaxi, excellent service. And you can not miss Mrs. Lucia's massage, her hands heal all pain and leave the body as new.
Whoa what an experience, gorgeous. The staff is so nice. Great massage!
Superb location, very nice rooms and very good food. However, two major downsides: most of the staff were truly amazing, but the guy in charge of the tours (ie the most important person) was not helpful at all. In fact, he lied to us twice (as we found out later) about tours and so we didn't do one of the peaks we wanted to do. He constantly asked us about going with him, so we believe his game was forcing us to hire him. Secondly, beware that any service is way overpriced! We ended up hiring another tour guide for one of the standard tours around the National Park who was MUCH much cheaper and it was great! It was almost a factor of two difference... As another example, the taxi to Machachi costs between 10 and 15$, the hacienda charges twice that. One can find some bs replies by the owner about it, some bs indeed! This is just greed and bad service. We ended up taking the local bus for 60 cents. So, three out of five.
The friendliness of the staff. Great location, good restaurant with variety and vegetarian option.
A spa with massages and jacuzzi
One of the places to see Cotopaxi from a different angle. The place is nice and has 3 types of rooms: the super basic w/ shared bathroom , the standards and the suites. Rates start in US$35 and end up in around US170. Many activities and restaurant w/ nice menu.
Wonderful hostal to stay at during my trip to Cotapaxi. Very simple rooms encouraged the use of the common rooms by the fire to relax on couches, drink complementary tea, and engage with other guests. The food provided is delicious. All meals are very creative and unique.
This hotel is magical, if you go out you can see the cotopaxi (one of my favorite mountains) with snow and beautiful, the rooms are super cozy and the staff is very good
Super authentic hacienda in the middle of the "Tierra del Volcan"
The hacienda is located in a volcanic landscape, near the Cotopaxi.
+ The complex is very nice and inviting, there is a cozy fireplace in the living room, the spa has unfortunately not yet been completed.
- Unfortunately, it can get quite cool in the rooms,
+ However, we were provided with a heater and the friendly staff even brought a hot water bottle to our room without asking.
+ The food is amazing and affordable at a good price.
- In the dining room it is also very cool, but there is also a fireplace and there is no effort to put on a sweater.
+ The horse ride was a wonderful experience, 4 hours on very trusting horses through the Cotopaxi National Park with its picturesque landscape - wonderful.
+ The staff was very friendly and helpful and for the most part also spoke English, if you don't speak Spanish.
All in all, there were a few small pitfalls (see above) that you could come to terms with and a fascinating and recommendable experience.
5/5
El provenir is a very good stay in this part of ecuador!
Very good food pure and well prepared!
Nice open fire to warm yourself after beautifull horse ride track
Also for people who never did any horseback riding
Nice bedrooms where you find a nice warm water *thing*in your bed ..
Beautiful location, incredible staff, peaceful accommodations and setting.
The lousy service took exactly two hours to serve us the food, in addition to their happy menu ... consisting of a fifth soup, a piece of chicken breast (only) and a glass of water they charge 30 dollars plus VAT and 12 % service (lousy service) really a disappointment and a rip off. I really hope they don't go because it's a waste of time and money ...
Ideal for acclimatization at the altitude (3600m) before climbing the Cotopaxi volcano (5897m). Very well kept. Hardworking staff and attentive chef. Besides horseback riding too adventurous rope climbing park (19 ) and fabulous massage by Carmen (45 )
