Interesting place, very musky. The server in the restaurant was great though.
Very cool place to visit. Historical rail yard and ghost town are very interesting. And what a beautiful hotel lots of history. Food in the restaurant is how you say ............ bring a lunch. Might be better now but just over a year ago it was awful. Definitely check this place out.
This is a really cool-looking hotel from the outside. Beautiful waterfront/mountainside location and it s adjoined to a Ghost Town. The inside of the hotel is a bit weird... it s an old building, kind of like a maze with lots of interlocking corridors (I d describe the building as the opposite of open concept ). The rooms are outdated. Our room was clean enough but there were lots of smudges on the sliding glass and the pillow cases were dirty. The bed was really uncomfortable!! I woke up during the night and the next morning with a very sore back. We enjoyed our dinner at the Monashee Dining Room. Service was friendly albiet a little slow, but the food was tasty and reasonably priced. Lastly, the hotel offers free wifi but none of us could connect our devices or stay connected so we all had to use our data during our stay. Cable was also patchy at best.
It was convenient to take a rest and use the washrooms.
Great location, clean rooms, great service, cool ghost town. Looking forward to returning.
Lots of cool history in the ghost town. Not much information on what it is and where it came from though. Very beautiful spot, great place to check out.
Hidden Gem would hate to stay there in the middle of the summer with no a/c but we liked it.
I wish I could rate the ghost town and the restaurant separately. This place was just a pit stop of a couple hours for us so I can't speak to the quality of the hotel.
Ghost town was pretty fun, entertaining for the price and gave us something to do for a couple of hours to stretch our legs. The buildings that make up the town are all filled with antiques and objects from the past with plaques to give information. The mannequins in the setups are pretty terrible/creepy but I like spooky stuff so I actually enjoyed them. The trains and old cars were also fun to look at. I'd give the ghost town 4 stars.
The restaurant served ok food. Not bad but not really good either. It's reasonably priced. The views from the dining area are quite nice too.
Unfortunately I think they were fairly under staffed when we went. We were sat at a table for at least 20 minutes before a waitress came by. ( The place was MAYBE half full so it wasn't spectacularly busy ) The waitresses apologized and took our orders quickly. She brought our tea and coffee right away. I ordered a bunless bacon cheeseburger and salad which came quickly but had no bacon. At about the 30 minute mark we got glasses of water after asking for them twice.
The burger seemed to be just a frozen patty heated on a grill. Tasted fine but nothing fancy. The ceasar salad was pretty much tasteless.
Again I think this was just a matter of the place being understaffed because the season is winding down? Either way I'd give the restaurant 2 stars.
Would definitely revisit the ghost town but next time I'll go somewhere else to eat.
Canadian heritage preserved at Three Valley Gap Ghost Town. Must visit to see 1400 years old live tree, centuries old buildings, trades machinery and much more
Amazing historical features to check out. Highly recommend
BEWARE!!!!!!
PLEASE DONT DISMISS THIS REVIEW.
I RENTED THE EAGLES DEN.
IN THE EVENING WHEN I HAD BEEN TAKING A BATH IN THE JACUZZI TUB, I HAD ENCOUNTERED NUMEROUS BURNS ON MY BACKSIDE DUE TO THE JETS.
AFTER SPEAKING TO THE MANAGER WHO CONVENIENTLY IS ONE OF THE OWNERS DAUGHTERS, SHE HAD IMMEDIATELY DISMISSED MY CONCERN WITH AN AWKWARD SMIRK OF A SMILE.
MY FIRST NIGHT IN A NORMAL ROOM WAS NOT AN ISSIUE.
IT HAD ONLY BEEN WHEN I ENCOUNTERED THIS EXTREMELY EMBARASSING AND UNSAFE SITUATION.
I WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN.
I WILL ALSO BE CALLING THE HEALTH AND SAFETY RELATIONS BRANCH.
The bed was comfy and the view was spectacular... the rest of the hotel needed an overhaul. It was so dark and dingy that it didn't feel clean.
Didnt stay at the chateau, we were in the process of booking a room when they told us the rooms don't have AC, which isn't a big deal in the fall or spring but in temperatures hitting 30 we decided to stay elsewhere. we did tour the ghost town and train museum. Lots of history, lots of fun. Walking through the old train cars was very cool. I would have enjoyed it more if they made the buildings more accessible but all in all a good time for the family.
I was just stopping by on my way through. Was a good stop though
While the stay was not without hiccups, we would stay again. The pool is cold, you can feel the warm water by the jets but overall the pool is very cold. The room was nice but wasn't the right size beds that we booked, and could use some minor work. The restaurant was basic, but good and a stunning view.
My son's school had their field trip here....and it was so much fun!!!
this place is super creepy but in a beautiful valley just outside revelstoke. the hotel makes a number most haunted lists and i can say a lot of very strange things happened in our 2 night stay there.
Restful almost as soon as you step through their doors.
The restaurant is..disgusting, the food is..horrible. The rooms are worse than a flophouse. The only positive reviews you will read are written by the owners. Avoid this run down place.
I have stayed here on 2 occasions, 2006 and 2012. Both times, the food wasn't great. The rooms are a bit dated, there is in fact no cell coverage. If you are staying close to the center of the hotel, wifi is available. We took the museum tour when it was both guided and self-guided, a fun time waster, but much more entertaining when it was guided. You don't stay here on business, this is a purely recreational hotel with minimal amenities and gorgeous views. The spartan accommodations are because of the fact that they do indeed produce either own power!
Read the reviews, don't come here with the expectations of staying at a 4 Points by Sheraton, leave your laptop in the car, and bring a kayak. You'll have a more enjoyable stay!
Edit: we stayed here in 2013 as well. I also forgot about the indoor pool. It was painted pre-titanic discovery in 1980, entertaining read. The pool was good too, my 5 month old son had his first pool swim in three valley gap.
A fun museum with all sorts of things from Canada's story. Everything is without a real system, but you can get a lot of time to go here. Here are trains, old shops, a theater, school classes, workshops and everything else from the past 100 years.
Kids loved it! Rooms are so so but the area makes it awesome. Beauty lake, great eggs Benny, and the ghost town is great for families!
You need to stop here If you are interested in history, old cars, trains or even if your just Canadian! Unbelievable train museum/ frontier town. Other exhibits are also great. Everyday thousands of people drive by and miss this Gem, do yourself a favour, give yourself a few hours and stop here.
And awesome little stop for hungry travellers, shoppers of souvenirs, photographers and high flyers (helicopter rides). All affordable. Loved it.
Blast from the past. Very cool lots of old cars trains. They have mini golf
Loved it! It's peaceful, beautiful, and unique. Don't miss their ghost town. It adds to the experience significantly.
Location and views are breathtaking! But they really need to do some room upgrades. Rooms are really dated and the beds need a complete overhaul including bedding! Setting won't sustain the lack of required upgrades.
Nice place, friendly staff, a little dated but has lots of character and has a great little ghost town with a small train for kids(and adults) to ride.
I work there, it's very unique picturesque, and very friendly owners helpful staff and great place to relax
Beautiful resort. Need more promotion. Too far to travel. Limited accommodation
Great for kids. Our two kids 5 and under loved it here. Especially the trains. Beautiful lake and mountain view from room. Comfy beds. No air conditioning and its really loud there on side of the highway. We would stay here again for the kids despite the hot rooms and traffic noise. The restaurant had the best fish and chips and great service.
