The building is dated but that is part of its charm. The location is beautiful.
The building is dated but that is part of its charm. The location is beautiful.
We only stayed one night but it was great. The kids loved the pool and gardens and we couldn't have had a better view from our balcony. The restaurant breakfast was really good and our waitress was so friendly. The ghost town was great too and the kids had fun running around. The room had one door that wasn't closing properly though and the carpet was all scrunched in a few spots. Minor things that didn't really bother our stay. Wifi worked just fine for us in our room.
Take the family, the neighbors and friends.
Love it.
Beautiful scenery and location so serene and relaxing . Lots to see and do I absolutely loved the ghost town part of the property. Unfortunately the woman who runs the place (her family has owned this property forever) has left such a horrible impression on my family and myself with her attitude and lack of customer service I would never stay here or return here again
Prices are too high for the food and the run down condition of the facility.
The garden enclosure and the surrounding mountains and lake are beautiful. It is a good place to visit for a short break from driving.
Enjoyable visit to a nice ghost town. Worth the stop
Loads of character and oddity, in an amazing little spot. Wander around and you'll find something to do. All it needs is good wifi. It would be nice if you could enter the restaurant without going through the gift shop.
excellent restraunt to stop at along the way to eat. nice store
We liked the place. The restaurant was nothing special but the food was good. The service was lovely and the museum was a hit. Kids still are speaking abt it after almost 3 weeks passed. The museum has an amazing collection of antiques so for those who is in this subject this one is a definitely place to go!
I LOVE the ghost town and the cave room in the resort, but both the regular room and cave room we stayed in smelled musty and old.
The pool and hot tub were nice and the grounds were beautiful however there's no fine dining and certain areas smell kinda musty.
I loved it. I have wanted to stay there for years, and now I have. It's quite the experience!
Cute place. I didn't have enough time. Will be back to check out the ghost town. It looks amazing!!
Weak website, could use updating. It's a long travel to be disappointed.
Inexpensive for its location. It's a little old but kept well. The view from balcony is excellent. The ghost town in the hotel is worth a look, too. The only complaint is that there is no WiFi in rooms.
Fun little stop for us, learned and saw alot. Great service
Nice place. Lots to do onsite. Ghost town, swimming pool, ping pong, snooker pool.
Fun place to stay. Lots to do and not far from town. Rooms could use a bit of an update and some comfier beds would be nice. Service was very good and so was the food in the restaurant
good little stop.homecooked food in cafe is lovely.ghost town is a must visit too
Eek! I think they've mistakenly called this place "Chateau" while the correct term should be "Cheap Motel".
The exteriors of this hotel are very deceiving. Do not be fooled!!!
If you paid $30 a night at a motel you might be accepting of the rooms you will find here. Old, thin linens, very old mattresses, dingy, dirty bathrooms that smell of sewer stink, NO air conditioning (It was so hot in the room) and little else in the room. The "restaurant" (again, another misuse of a word) was a cafeteria boasting some of the lousiest frozen foods I've come across in a while.
I think people end up staying here only because, once they've seen the resort, it's way too far of a drive to anything else.
Save your money!!! Don't be taken.
Great family trip here. Little outdated like some reviews mention, but didn't bother us at all. Kids loved it. There is plenty of cell service (Rogers) despite reviews claiming otherwise.
Great location. The hotel is in desperate need of updating. No air conditioning or wi-fi. Just a standing fan in the room.
I loved the outside garden that you could walk around in. So much to see!
Full service cloud formation..Traveling east to Calgary
Beautiful lakeviews, swimming, flower garden, hotel...lots to see & do!!!
A Must Stop!!!
Room is nice, recommend paying extra for lake view & king bed, swimming pool & hot tub were good WiFi sucks, shower sucks Beautiful location
Went to the ghost town. It was entertaining and educational. It was quiet and enjoyable.
Ok pit stop. Some souvenirs and food/coffee. Right on the highway which is nice
Beautiful place - buildings and grounds. Loved the setting with train passing too.
Well .... i dont know what all the noise is about for this resturaunt , a table of 8 just finished a meal here, no one complained about the food at all . Burgers , sandwiches and the fish were all good . This is not a five star place, it is a roadside diner ... if you cant wrap ur head around that keep driving to kelowna so you can pay big money for about the same thing ... me thinks mustard package lady likes things a bit on the fancy side cause the food was better than mustard packages .. lots better . And for the no cell service ... im writing this review in the resturant ... with full service . Might need a new carrier folks !! Ghost town is awsome but the train ride is pretty short . Spend more time in the ghost town and skip the train.
Enjoy folks

Very interrestng place
Much to see and a great frontier town. A must see.
Beautiful location, scenic surroundings, room are whatever but I would stay again for a Midway stop on my way to Vancouver from calgary
Despite being located right next to the highway and train tracks, it is a lovely place to stay. The view is breath taking and the site offers several fun things to do during your stay such as visiting the Ghost Town, paddle boat riding, stand up paddling. In terms of safety measures for covid19, nothing particularly stood out that needs noting. Just the usual posters of social distancing, importance of washing hands and masks being recommended. Having said that, our standard 1 King bed room was clean. The only downfall here, for me, is that there's no air conditioning and that the wifi doesn't work in the rooms.
Quirky, charming resort and hotel with nice staff. Great facilities including mini train, miningolf, ghost town.
It is a hotel, but it is attached to a lake.
It is cute and beautiful.
There are lots of interesting things.
SHADY COVID-19 CLEANING PROTOCOLS
I really wanted to like this hotel. It has an old-school charm to it and makes you feel like you stepped back in time a few decades. It even feels like you are staying at the Overlook hotel from the Shining in some areas. It has a rich history and has definitely seen its heyday. However, that is where it stops. Check-in was quick and efficient, and our loft room was as advertised, although we didn't appreciate the wide angle photos when reserving, which upon arrival made the room look much bigger than it really was. No big deal... I immediately wiped down high touch surfaces with Lysol wipes which we brought with us, just to be safe. I do not trust hotel cleaning staff, especially nowadays. The room appeared fairly clean, there were some stains on the table and fridge door, so obviously those were not cleaned and are high touch areas. Red Flag!
Upon checkout, I asked what their COVID cleaning protocols are, and was simply told that they clean the rooms and they even change out shower curtains. WOW! Good for them. Trust me, I would be surprised if they do more than a quick vacuum if it's even needed, and a wipe down of the bathroom, replenish towels, and change bedding.
This hotel has that old school charm, but is evidently starting to show its age because its a bit run down. I understand this and our stay was still pleasant enough, but to see a massive lack in cleaning of rooms during COVID, is simply unacceptable. I would not stay here again and shame on the hotel ownership, management, and cleaning staff for putting their guests into a potentially health hazardous situation.
The rooms modern and clean, the communal areas of the hotel authentic to the time of construction. Food was standard. Only internet in the communal areas great for disconnecting which I suspect is the intent. Ghost town very intriguing. Definitely worth exploring. Wish we could have stayed another night.
So many cool places and spaces here- we are definitely coming back!
What a beautiful, wonderful experience! Thank you soo much! Hope to see you soon!!
I gave a 3 because there's no air conditioning. So rooms are quite warm. Shower got hot and cold. This place could have soo much potential. It needs a bit of tlc.... the grounds and building. It was an experience. Probably won't stay here again.
Had fun stay with ghost town and staff working. Loved my salad at restaurant. . Great hotel front on lake. Saddened we are in peculiar times. Yet. Didn't deter our mini vacation.
We stopped here because we were on a camping car trip but it was raining. We didn't expect it to be much, but it was amazing. The room was nice and inexpensive, the grounds were beautiful, and the historical park that is there was fascinating. It felt like a labor of love by people who wanted to preserve the local history. It was one of the highlights of our trip.
I stayed here for a night but have been to hang out on a few occasions. The hotel room was clean and comfortable although I found that it was challenging to adjust the temperature precisely.
Breakfast was not included so we bought some in the cafeteria. Food was expensive and quality was average. Reminded me of food from a school cafeteria.
Gift shop was interesting but lacked compelling merchandise.
Awesome place. Awesome veiws and the ghost town is amazing. Well kept and family owned. Staff is very friendly
In itself funny for a visit if you are in the area. Part is amateurish and part looks a bit better.
Very beautiful and calm place. There are swings inside. Boating, helicopters and other entertainment. There are also small trains for children. We are coming in and playing.
A nice place to stay. Lots of stuff to do and explore all around you.
It had fun attractions like a ghost town of an old town in Canada and giant board games like checkers.
Pros: beautiful view, friendly front desk
Cons: very loud, with no conditioner. So if room gets hot and window is open, you cannot sleep due to highway noise. Playroom very outdates with lots of broken parts.we were surprised to have no breakfast offered. Assumed that for $200 per night breakfast wouldnt hurt. Our room seemed clean but has weird smell to it as if no windows have been open for ages. Found some clothing behind some of the furniture......
Also i was surprised to find coffee machine and coffee located in the bathroom.......
I've wanted to stay at this hotel ever since I was a little kid. 25 years later and I finally booked a night with my family and another group. Although the place is dated, there is so much history and the Ghost Town is one of the most interesting places I have ever seen. My kids loved the place as well.
We were primarily there to visit the ghost town beside it, which was a very large collection of old stuff, not as well done as other historic villages I've been to. Very nice scenery though.
Dont go there!
We did booking for seven families. And we told them we have seven families with kids. We faced raining day then we chooses to enter inside the hotel. The sound isolation of the hotel is the worst ever i found. The design of the hotel is not proffissional where the rooms opened to the sitting areas. These three things produced high noise to others. We asked the management for a solution, instead of helping us finding a solution one of the ladies started to chase as and threatening us to call police. This lady deal with us in a very bad way, aggressive and nonprofessional. Before we left the hotel we did rise a complain to the management, but unfortunately the management not even listened well to the case to enhance the performance in future, they just tried to support the nonprofessional hotel lady.
Descent family run place. Spacy rooms and ok family restaurant. Could be a big better insulated for noise of outside and inside the building.
Pop in to ghost town while you stay. They have a big collection of old block houses and trivia. This gives a good feel of how people used to live
Also the collection of old trains and cars are impressive.
The place is maybe not the most modern and fancy one, but the unique character and friendly service makes up for that.
The gardens are even prettier in real life than in the photos. Kids enjoyed the playground, pool, indoor garden, and game room. The staff really went out of their way for us. There's plenty of things to do in the area for people of all ages. The restaurant had a good kids menu, and I was happy with the food there too. The cafeteria mostly has snacks and simple breakfast food (we made our own PB&J sandwiches for breakfast anyway, and I was pleased our mini fridge had a freezer for the ice pack we use for our road snacks). My 6 yr old said she felt like we were staying in a palace! Cute. I think my 2 yr old agreed. It's decorated in a luxurious style, on a gorgeous site, yet without any super expensive decor or over-the-top amenities so there is a sense of being in luxury without the crazy price tags or pretentious vibe. The place is so gorgeous it really does feel like a mini paradise, yet casual at the same time. I wouldn't call this chateau "high end" or "economy" --it's just a perfect blend of both, truly. You'll get great value for your money. I am really, really glad we discovered this gem and we will be back for sure!
Additional notes: One wee drawback to this place is poor wifi. It's fine in the lobby, the restaurant, the cafeteria, and the gift shop but weak in the rooms. Great excuse to unplug anyway, so we didn't mind. At least wifi can be found when needed. There's a hot tub but it is kept scalding hot for some reason, unless you ask to have the temperature lowered and then it takes hours to cool... odd. On the upside, there's small library and 2nd game room in addition to the indoor garden and pool, so lots of places to hang out in cold weather! My 6 yr old also adds that having a room with a balcony overlooking the garden was *awesome!*)
Love this hotel... I call it the Shining Hotel...lol
Awesome views in and around the Hotel. Don't forget to take your family to the Ghost Town which is really really close to the hotel and the Enchanted Forest.
Potentially one of the grubbiest and most disorganised hotels I have ever stayed in.
A little dated, but good food and amazing location. Check out the ghost town attached. You won't be disappointed.
It was very picturesque, lovely Court yard. Friendly staff.
Amazing place to visit. Friendly staff. Family owned and orientated.
Very run down . Restaurant staff were absolutely awful.
Great place to stop and relax for bit on long drives
Was there to visit the ghost town portion of the chateau. Friendly staff, beautiful location. Very informative and many hands-on items to see and touch. Definitely go if you're a fan of old trains! Loved it!
Fine hotel with beautiful Beach and fantasy garden.
Gorgeous place that worth a stop to visit. We did not stay over night here but we only made a stop here and enjoyed the food and beautiful scenery. The place has beautiful decor, a large pool, a game room and a garden indoor. The garden outside has a million dollar view to be honest (as can be seen in the videos below). We were glad to make the stop and enjoyed the food and amazing scenery.
This is a really cool little spot to stop and explore. We had dinner in the hotel and it was delicious. After reading goggle reviews on the hotel we decided not to stay due to paranormal activity. I can t say for sure but I believe in that so never stayed. The main entry in the hotel is beautiful and it s such a treasure here. Worth the stop in my opinion.
Stopped here for the night. Quirky but clean and comfortable. Food in diner was good and the museum interesting.
Everything is fine except No Cell phone signal and poor WiFi signal
This place isn't the Hilton, but it's a great family stop with a cool history. The same family owns and operates the whole facility including a big hotel, and several tourist attractions, including a ghost town, round house with many train cars, mini train rides, helicopter tours, and lots more. You can spend many hours in the ghost town, it's a great value. The rooms are decent and well maintained. It's great to see a family run operation still going strong.
I am rating this as a quest to the ghost town. We absolutely loved it. It was so much better than we expected it to be that we will for sure come back.
Cute spot! The ghost town is very neat and location on the water, in the valley, is beautiful!
Great place to visit with the family. 4/5 because there is no wifi in the rooms, no air con, and they re quite dusty. Check out the ghost town and their Titanic themed pool. The restaurant is nice.
I stopped in with my family just to check out the ghost town. Prices were good, and the ghost town/museum was a fun adventure for myself and my kids. I've driven by for years but never ever stopped. Glad I did.
I cant really speak on the hotel, however, we did walk through to go look at the beach, and the hotel in general seemed nice.
Lots to do and see. The Ghost Town was well done, and the Railway Museum and antique autos were great as well. Lovely creek running through to the lake and you can rent kayaks very affordably.
The gardens were lovely as well. We were thoroughly charmed. Certainly an excellent value for the price.
No air conditioning in the room so a consideration on a very hot day. The breeze from the lake and a fan helped so we weren't uncomfortable.
