Just had my wedding here (9-22) and it was not a good experience.
Really dissatisfied and the Inn Keeper didn t seemed to care. When you spend thousands of dollars on a rehearsal dinner and a wedding you have certain expectations and they were not met. We booked every room at the inn and had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception there.
Lots of empty promises from kelsey the coordinator. The food was not as good as last year when we came to eat and the service was sub par. Kelsey, Karen and Laurie you ruined what was supposed to be the best day of my life.

Fantastic stay. This is our second time staying and has become our go to place to stay when we come down for Haunted Overload. The king size bed is very comfortable and my wife and I love the hot tub. And the complimentary breakfast is excellent. But the best part of it is the wonderful atmosphere. From the old timey feel to the wonderful outdoor environment, I look forward to staying again in the future.

A most elegant place for dining & cocktails at the Ffrost & Sawyer Tavern. Food is especially good and the atmosphere lovely including the rustic tavern. Cocktails are also of good quality.

We absolutely loved our time at Three Chimneys!! As soon as you walk into the room, we were in 15- it felt immediately relaxing, with more than enough room to put all of your stuff down. The fireplace was awesome as was the massive bath tub/ shower to be fair it was kind of difficult to get in and out of but still nice for a long soak after a good hike. The location was nice and there were lots of trails nearby- highly recommend the Wagon Hill trail. We had an amazing time and cannot wait to return!

The Tavern is extremely quaint, dating back to the mid 1600's and retaining much of the original architecture. The bar and some of the dining area is slightly cramped, but it is appropriate to the atmosphere. Outdoor fire pits make for a lovely option to relax in the evenings, and the main event room is generous and accommodated all the guests for the wedding we attended.

First time visit. Get-away for wife and me. Quiet. Well decorated with understated richness. Gas fireplace provides appropriate ambiance and warmth for chilly nights. Four-poster high-boy king-size bed. Large, soft towels.

This place is wonderful. I wish the restaurant/ pub would more accommodating regarding meals and times. Microwaves would also be good in the rooms especially when you order food and want to reheat it for midnight snackin.

This was my first time ever being here in my life. What a beautiful place to be. The architecture of the old building itself is stunning. I was speaking with my fiance's grandfather about the building and he was telling me it was one of or the first building built in the area and that he also knew one of the sons of the family. Pretty amazing experience I must say.

We had a sort of departmental meeting there. It was great place for such an occasion. We had fried chicken, fried calamari, and oysters. I also had clam chowder and I was very impressed by the texture, the thickness of the soup, and the amount of clams in there. I guess other clam chowders that I had in the past were sort of diluted version of this. Because of the quality, you might think the soup is a bit more pricier than in other places.

I want to say the waitress had too much on her plate... We had to keep asking for water (which was a small olastic cup you would use at a little kids b-day party) and that doesnt excuse the burnt food... Took our plates and we ordered dessert... I had to eat mine with a butter knife because I had no spoon...

One of the best restaurants in town, and an unbeatable atmosphere in one of the oldest buildings New Hampshire. I've had the seafood and steaks, both of which are outstanding. Don't miss this place if you're in the area.

We had dinner there last night and it was very disappointing from start to finish. People without reservations were being seated before us , service was extremely slow, I was served a warm beer , and my fish was undercooked. We were there over 2 hours!

I can't attest to price because I was flown here for a job interview, but this is a charming and quaint inn. The breakfast was great, the staff were friendly, and there's waterfront in the front and a spooky graveyard out back. The rooms are a decent size and perfect for 1-2 people if you're sharing a bed. Great decor and great amenities!

Stayed here for a night before and after an event called the Untamed New England adventure race hosted at UNH. The place was great. Super friendly staff amazing rooms. We stayed in room 25 which sleeps 6 and ample room for whatever! The grounds were awesome. the tavern was great. Drinks and food! Probably one of the best hotel rooms I have ever been in. Renovated but still felt old and vintage. The little history tour was great. Thanks to Debbie, Kristen and the other staff. Make sure you say hi to Hanna as well.

It's a rustic building with some modern upgrades in the rooms, but the noise from doors closing is something like I've never heard before. It's possible that we experienced the heavy noise because it was a busy college graduation weekend, but if you require a quiet night for sleep, we did not get that experience here. The staff was excellent and they have a nice outdoor patio for food/drinks, but the amount of noise the closing doors in the inn make is something I've literally never experienced before. I would still recommended checking it out, as we may have been unlucky, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to go enjoy an appetizer and a drink on the patio!

I stayed at the Three Chimneys Inn for a wedding recently and was pleasantly surprised. In 2012 I graduated from UNH and the entire four-years I was in school, I was unaware that the Three Chimneys Inn & Tavern were down the road. The guest rooms were charming and quaint. I loved the New England touches in the decor. Before the wedding I had a cocktail in the tavern which, I really liked. The next time I am in Durham I would return to the tavern for a drink and meal. As for the wedding, the venue, food, and cocktails were excellent. All of the staff at the Three chimneys Inn were friendly and helpful and waking up the next morning to a buffet breakfast was a plus.

We hosted a beautiful Wedding Weekend for my daughter at this country inn which dates to the 1600s. Outstanding food, charming rooms--some with gas fireplaces--and friendly staff made this a great getaway for over 100 of our family and friends. The extensive grounds are a plus and the location is extremely quiet, yet close 5o major roads and nearby darling Portsmouth.

Looked forward to a nice dining experience but left disappointed with our meal at the 3 Chimneys Inn. Had to wait at the bar to be served. Once seated waited over 10 minutes to be approached by waiter. Limited menu and not interesting. Meal was at best average. While the creme brule was excellent the wine list was sub par. Why have 3 Zinfandel's on the list when the wine list is so limited? Red Truck Red would have been improvement on the wine list but they already had cornered the market on witty marketing naming conventions versus offering some semi serious wines and as well as diversity. No plans to go back to 3 chimney Inn.

Stayed at this inn under the impression that this was a bed and breakfast, and it kind of is but it's essentially a hotel. Our room was clean and pretty, but the walls are thin, and people kept letting their doors slam. Breakfast was not very good, and we had to tip. Unfortunately, we did not have the bed and breakfast experience we were expecting. (We also forgot some things in the fridge, but when housekeeping found it, they did not let us know. They were going to keep it. So, I'm not happy about that.)

The food was delicious, we had the pleasure of meeting two ghosts Rosa and Hannah who hung around while we were there. It's a little high in price, 2 steak dinners with no alcohol was $100.

My wife and I went here for the first time and it was all that we could have wanted. The dining area we ate in was from 1700 and had wood floors with boars wider then Kings Boards (22 ). The food was marvelous and the staff was as well. Definitely going to go there many more times in the near future.

Do you like history? How about really awesome cozy basement taverns? Want somewhere to stay that isn't your typical chain hotel? Give this place a shot! It's hard to get this kind of feel just anywhere. If you haven't been, it's worth a visit!

Our daughter and son in law s wedding weekend at Three Chimneys Inn was absolutely perfect from beginning to end! All of the visits, countless emails and planning with Kelsey Hayes, Director of Weddings and Events, resulted in a wedding ceremony and reception that far exceeded our expectations! Each and every detail was taken care of, the ceremony in the garden was magical, appetizers, cocktails and dinner amazing, the staff professional, kind and attentive. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We had the most wonderful time being able to enjoy every moment of the wedding knowing everything was being taken care of. Thank you Three Chimneys Inn for making our daughter and son in law s wedding weekend a celebration filled with joy and special moments!!!

Every square inch of detail was superb and beautifully designed, maintained and thought out. All the staff was wonderful and made us feel at home. We stumbled upon this place last minute and will definitely be returning. If you fin yourself on the east coast looking for a wonderful place to stay, I cannot recommend it more.

Oh,, and the food was perfect! The last day of check out, a table was personally set up for us by a roaring fire place on a snowy day. Warmed our tummies and our hearts.

Love all the updates to the inn this year! The rooms and restaurant look great. Perfect location for parents to visit their children who attend the University of New Hampshire or for one of the nicest dinners in Durham.

Quintessential new England inn. We had a fantastic dinner for 5. Limited menu but three of our gang went with the nightly special and it rocked. server was so attentive; can't wait to go back and see how their renovations turn out in the bar.

I've stayed here once and eaten at the tavern twice. The rooms are historic and quaint. The bed was comfortable, entryways were narrow and the wood floor creaked with every step. The restaurant is in the basement. It has an old time pub feel. There food was good, if a little pricey, but I got more than a simple meal. This was a dining experience. I plan to live it again.

We love staying here because when we visit our UNH student (now graduate!). The rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast is enjoyable. The shower/tub quite luxurious (some with jets). A pleasant stay for a special trip to Durham.
