The York Water Company Review

Had my water turned off while recovering from major surgery. The President, Mr. Brenner, did not care that my surgical area , which needed to be kept clean and sterile was in danger of becoming infected and causing severe illness. 10 minutes after my water was turned off I had a failure of my ostomy supplies leading to leakage all over my body,clothing and bathroom floor. I was unable to clean myself after being covered in body waste and after 6 phone calls pleading to help me they could only say why don't you come in and pay your bill. I was only $28 past due and the girl I spoke to acted so dumb when I continued to tell her I was covered in waste matter. She still said can I come in. After calling the PUC my water was on first thing the next day but still had to spend almost an entire day covered in waste. Could not go to bed, or dress and sit anywhere. Worst customer service with the most uncaring staff I have ever dealt with. Called today to get fax number so that my doctor could contact them they would not return my phone call. I predict they will turn my water off again even though I have not received a 3 day notice. They will not set up any payment arrangements even though their bills say they will.

My friends applied for service on New Year s Eve for when they moved into their new house, but for some reason the application wasn t processed and didn t allow for the water to be turned on. However, we called on New Year s Day and explained to them that there was no water and they came out right away and turned it on! Thanks for the great service!

York Water takes the time to make sure quality water is provided to each customer. Out of all the utilities I pay they are the most inexpensive. I feel very blessed to have clean, quality water in my home every day.

Read Jay Haines review and I share his sentiments completely. Exorbitant late fees, fees to just pay your bill online even with a direct withdrawal from your Bank Account. Having to pay with CASH in the exact amount at their physical locale at 130 Market Street and NO they won't give you change because they don't care to give change. You better come with the exact amount. More would be better for them. They couldn't give a d--- who you are and the level of condescending tone... par for the course at York Water.

Terrible customer service. My township started using York water company for bill collection for sewage in October. They were given the wrong address to send the bill to so I hadn't paid the sewage bill from October to May (quarterly payment). I got a pink slip on my door saying the water would be shut off if I didn't pay in three days and they charged me processing fees for the late payment. I tried to reason with the customer service department that it wasn't my fault I wasn't getting the bills and they were sending the bills to an address I had no affiliation with so why should I pay any penalty? They kept telling me they couldn't help me and directing me to my township government which kept directing me back to York water company. Extremely dissatisfied to say the least with having to pay for someone else's mistake.

This is a quality operation, from the drinking water itself to the always friendly and courteous staff. We are very fortunate to have a locally owned and operated community driven public utility literally in our backyard.

The employees at the York water company should remember that they are serving the public. They are paid by tax payer dollars and should act accordingly. I often wondered how their star rating was so low I mean if you pay your water bill the water keeps running right well the problem comes when you call these people with a problem they are condescending show no sympathy and act childish instead of showing some empathy to help deescalate a customers dissatisfaction instead they just cop an attitude adding to the situation and frustration at hand. When you call ask who you are dealing with if it is Fabiola just asked for someone else its not worth your aggravation.

The 4 star reviews are, obviously, by employees or personal friends of someone in the company. Very few of the staff are courteous, and most of them are condescending. I've actually spoken with the CEO, and that attitude is clearly passed down from him. They can get away with it, since they are a monopoly, and we are not "customers", but are just people who are forced to pay this company money, because of a few elected people. The citizens didn't even get to vote on the township selling our water system to this company.

Awful! I called to transfer my services to a new place. Person that answer the phone directed me right to the website. Which I wasn't aware that they had such a thing. I follow her instructions and what the website did was just started a new account.. not realizing they never had turn the services off at the old house. I put a complaint in with PUC. Which after 5 months of waiting for a response now they tell me I am responsible for paying the balance from previous address. They claim they never received a phone call from me to transfer service .. if the person that answer the call would have taken the time to hear what I wanted thing would be much better. very very poor customer service with the York Water Company BAD! How many other people have they done this too.

Worst company ever. Money hungry and greedy. We had a slow water leak in the downstairs toilet (flapper must have worn out). After 2 water bills double our normal amount, I started investigating and fixed right away. Called and asked about some sort of adjustment because how was I supposed to know it was leaking? You couldn't hear anything running. And they flat out said no. It's Christmas time so money is already tight. Not to mention these charge $16/month for their admin fee. For what?!?! I get my bill paperless and my meter is in my basement so nobody comes out to read it. Anything to screw hard working people over.

My first dealing with them was when I called right after settlement on my new house. There was a misunderstanding with the previous homeowner and the water was turned off. I called them after hours to have it turned back on....the supervisor that I spoke with was rude and ignorant. I said to him numerous times that I had a young child living in the house and needed the water turned on. He suggested that I run hoses from my neighbors houses until Monday morning! Really! I am not impressed at all with their company. Unfortunately I cannot deal with anyone else or I would.

I was born and raised in York Pennsylvania, home of that good York water . And let me tell you, man is it good. Once you ve tasted the sweet nectar of life we call York water, you ll never take another sip without thinking back to it s cool refreshing taste, and from straight out the tap at that! I m all respects, The York Water Company is an outstanding institution that delivers superb quality with superior service!

They are one of the worst but yet they expect us to pay for their contaminated water look at the lead count in the water but when you call and if you have a house built in the thirties they offer to have a contractor to come out and replace old plumbing for a small fee yea right, but how does that help with all the lead and other contaminants thats in are drinking water it's just another way to fill their pockets with even more money cause these big elite corporation's look at the paying customer as sheeple but us sheeple is what keeps these crooks going.

Best public water company I have ever been a customer to! The water tastes incredible, has great pressure, and is quite inexpensive. I love the York Water Company and all they do to provide the highest quality water to the entire community!

Has anyone noticed a different taste in the water, I'm in Manchester twp and for last 3 days water has different taste

My car was towed due to a main water line break two weeks ago and I STILL haven t received any information from them on how I will be getting refunded, even after giving them all of the proper information. AWFUL customer service.

If I didn t have to use them because of my landlord , trust me I wouldn t.

Their service hasn't been unprofessional and they always shut down without notice when they maintain the pipe. Their employees are too rude and pay on attention. The reason they have done the water service business because no choice in York city.
