I freaking love this place. Just go, stop reading my review and just go. You won't regret it.

PS: As a side note I can't recommend for small children. I would say 10/11 is the youngest as there are a lot of scares (Some jump scares) and some younger children may become too frightened. However you know your child best and some younger children may be fine with it.

Weak heart or nervous disposition? Then you may want to skip it.

Oh and yes they do randomly take people from the tour and drag them in front of the group...happened to me....it was funny.

Fantastic experience you have to be prepared for a scary experience well worth the visit.

Great time here. The characters are brilliant and everyone can join in. Definitely worth a visit. Book online as its cheaper and you get a time slot.

We booked online and saved a load of money but it so would have been worth the full asking price. What an experience, sets great nervy scenes and a fantastic laugh. Can't wait to go again.

Brilliant themed walk through actors are great characters also has a small bar now at the end after the gift shop which is quaint

The only reason I have given it 4 stars and not 5 is because of how scared I was at some points LOL. Me and my best friends were literally clinging onto each other for our dear lives haha. We went there for a trip with my year at school and it was epic, though terrifying. Absoloutely hilarious and something I will never forget and 100% tell others about it.

Amazing experience and crew, something you must see when you come to York. Great fun for family, and nice gifts you can buy on the end

Not suitable for under 8's or anyone who's claustrophobic or scared of the dark. Good couple of hours of jumps and scares. Pretty much a walk round museum with live actors. Would advise going to York mega early and making a day of it as parking is awful!! Or use the park and ride. Ok attraction to KILL a couple of hours

Great fun as always, they don't disappoint. I was picked on but loved it. Makes you jump at times, standard, great interaction from staff and visitors makes for a really good adventure

Enjoyed my visit normally 75mins reduced to less than a hour approximately 55 mins due to Covid 19

Thoroughly enjoyed, just as I do with all of the dungeons. Actors here were very good, I particularly enjoyed the northern actor that was all for "keep the southerners out" he spotted me from a mile of haha. Just really good fun with a few scares here and there, well worth the money. Got called up for the torturer chair part, that's only thing I'm not thanking anyone for, totally embarrassing but a good laugh anyhow, admittedly at my expense. Good job York dungeons

Very good they take you through the years of history. Very informative and funny

A fun-filled interactive "bloody" good attraction. Don't be scared, get involved, as it adds to the whole experience. Actors are brill, and do their bit to make the past come alive. Well worth a visit.

I was scared I didn't know what to expect. I said to my teacher I didn't want to go but she made me and I think she tried to make me out as a coward so I ended up going

Went here as a group of four and had a very good experience. Bit too many people in our group, but it didn't detract from the experience. The acting was on point, and scared my dinner out of me. It was also very informative and educational: history plus entertainment!

Pretty good. They get you all involved and quite rightly identified my missus as a witch and had her burned at the stake!

Underwhelming and overpriced - okay for what it is but there's a lot better tourist things to do in this city for a lot less money.

A journey through history and time which is also fun with both friends and family.
Great staff who are committed to the role and educational too. Steep prices when it comes to purchasing a photo towards the end but it didn't take anything away from the experience itself. Highly recommended!

Age rating of 8+ is about right. Went with a bunch of 8 year olds. Some laughed, some cried... Great fun for most though. Actors great, set fun, merch quite good value.

A very entertaining way to spend an hour or so in York, a very good option for a rainy day activity. The actors are very good at what they do and engage with you making you really feel part of the performance.

Fun and informative scary and laughing at the same time

Great place to learn about the history of York, especially from an educational perspective. Somewhat pricey and a bit boring maybe, given that you sit in moving buggy and watch automated displays rather than real people dressed up.

Booked this for my daughter who strangely loves horror. I was dreading it as I scare easily. The effects are brilliant. The theatrics are superb and the actors were so real and well learned of the history of this beautiful city. The smells were really well thought out with the putrid stentch at the Plague doctor which made it even more real. I had one of the best times today as I laughed so long and hard my cheeks were aching.
Brilliant day out and well worth the anxiety waiting to go in!

I went their with my family and it was SUPER fun but I wouldn't go there with kids under 8ish as on the way in we actually saw a family with kids who got soooo scared that they had to leave even before we started!

Got immediate attitude from the Medieval Monk at the beginning of the tour.
Insulting me, my clothes even my hairstyle. (Pick on the guy with Anger management issues well done)
However I loved it. All the staff put 100% into their performances.
Definitely worth taking the kids if you want to freak them out

I've not done anything like this for a couple of years. It wasn't in the slightest bit scary. The actors were quite good and it was fun.

Omg, how I never wet myself I dont know. Didnt think I'd have a voice when I came out. The scares were plenty and unexpected at times. Very educational and the staff were amazing at their role. Well worth paying a visit.

Very interesting. It is part of the York museum but you get an insight into what people were put in prison for and the conditions they lived in.

A really good experience but way too short for the price.

What a fantastic show, the actors get in to character extremely well, funny, scary, entertaining and full of interesting facts. A must to go and see. Not suitable for under 14 year olds.

Ride is fun but wait area doesnt have much of interest

Great place for a trip out absolutely loved it won't tell you more incase we ruin the surprises make sure to stop off at the tavern for a drink or 2 on the way out which also doubles up as a shop to buy your magnets and so on
