Great food in the heart of docklands and staff are amazing
Great atmosphere with beautiful food. From entree, mains and deserts great selection.
Amazing customer service, very personalised.
Keep it up, we'll be back!
Good pub/restaurant. Nice vibe inside and generally a good place to hang out.
I had beer and ribs. No complaints, slight tourist tax due to the location.
$11 schooners-Lamey lamo with the lame lames. Probable the worst in the universe and $11 schooners- the beer was cheaper at the footy. Where s Mum? Probably here
Extremely overpriced for very low quality food.
Chips were oven fried and fish tasted like Birds Eye frozen fish.
GOOD CHOICE FOR A CASUAL DINNER ON THE WATERFRONT
The Woolshed is a large modern building on Harbour Esplanade just across from Marvel Stadium.
Easy walking distance from the CBD and there are several tram routes that pass by (including the number 35 City Circle).
There is a bar and casual eating area as well as a more formal dining area and an upstairs area that has amazing views across the city skyline.
We (two of us) arrived without a booking at about 6:30 pm and had no trouble getting a table in the more formal dining area on the ground floor. Service was very efficient and friendly. The tables are relatively well spaced and there is a variety of table sizes for different groups. In warmer weather the front windows of the restaurant fold away to create an al fresco section.
We decided to eat vegetarian this night and it was quite easy to select a range of dishes from the menu. They also offer gluten free options for some dishes.
We started with sparkling water and a glass of wine each. Entree was a delicious vegetable salad and chargrilled bread with dips.
For mains we shared a vegetable pasta and a zucchini and pea salad. Both were quite good.
We were too full to try the dessert menu :)
The restaurant filled quite quickly and when we left at about 8 pm it was buzzing with people.
People with mobility issues will be fine here as it is a very modern complex with level floors and easy access.
Nice venue, good selections of beers on tap, good atmosphere.
Great place to have a drink at the docklands. Had a hot spiced rum, legit one of the best winter cocktails I've ever had.
This place shows plenty of promise, it's beautiful inside, but unfortunately the service, food and beer let it down significantly. Beer was stale, food served without a share plates or napkins and staff showed little interest even when we were leaving.
Great ambience. Smorgasbord of nibbles. Great staff. Good experience all around
Very nice meal!! Very big portions!! :) will be coming back.
A great place to have a couple of drinks after work or on the weekend.
Large open area with a good amount of seating, some decent beers on tap and some excellent live music on a Saturday night.
More than just a pub, the Woolshed is a perfect pre-game or pre-event location. Amazing cocktails and bar selection, you really couldn t ask for more there!
Food was quick and easy, atmosphere pre-game is always electric, with fans of both teams mingling before the bounce!
Such an amazing place!! Great restaurant service was on point and the food was to die for. Good selection of food fast service. You get what you pay for.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Disappointingly the food not really up to expectations. Chicken parmigiana was bland and not worth the $26.
Decent food but on the pricey side. Staff friendliness can be a hit and miss sometimes
Pretty good but the air conditioning sucked on a hot day
When I think Woolshed I think sheep. Lambs are baby sheep. Therefore lambys in Geelong is better than the Woolshed
If you want expensive beer and rude service by the barman come to the Woodshed. Pint of beer only 16 bucks poured by a grumpy man that clearly didn't want to even be there.
Went again last night. Vast improvement in customer service and food was great. Note for cashier: it is not illegal to take leftover food from restaurant. A restaurant may refuse but that can not be the reason for refusal.
Waited at the bar for 15 minutes being consecutively ignored by bar staff because we were wearing football scarves. We were not intoxicated by any means but chosen last to others standing at the bar. We had to literally complain to get someone to serve us. There's a bouncer on the door - if you don't want to serve us, don't let us in.
Best selection of beers on tap, we had fresh seafood platters that were incredibly tasty. This is a great spot to network with fellow businessmen
Not great. A group of us were in there on a Wednesday night, and basically the only ones there, and they wouldn't serve us main meals unless we sat 5m away in the "restaurant" area. We just wanted to stand at the tall tables near the bar. Not sure the logic, but they lost out on $300 revenue, which we spent at a pub that did serve us without silly seating rules.
Foods are good, wine selections are good. Beer selections are no good. But it's good place for drinking and good for dating.
Food was good but service was really bad. Had to wait ages for table service.
Was a great place to drink and watch the footy till the beer selection changed must be new management such a shame !
Service is worse than the food, and the food is pretty bad for Melbourne ...
Great food and at reasonable prices given the location. A fantastic place to go for dinner or even a drink with friends
Place is amazing but staff has to work on their customer service... Overall it is more good than bad! I believe that tonight wasn't the best night for them :)
Big mainstream pub. Nothing special but not a bad spot to catch up with folks over a beer. So long as you don't expect a decent craft beer you'll be happy here.
A little spec of life in the Docklands area. Good for a drink, not so much for food.
My grilled salmon dish was very nice, although presentation was disappointing & the Hokki fish & chips were ok, except that the beer batter was not crisp Table service was ok, table left uncleaned after we had finished.
Friendly service. Had the sheares board and side salad to share. Very good
Nice place to hang out and have dinner. Down side is it is a bit too pricey for the average Pacific Islander lol
This was our furst night in Melbourne - we met up with friends for a meal
We all chose different dishes and tasted some of the other meals - Everyone was really happy with their choices - the atomosphere was great - Nice place to meat and to eat
That is a seriously big burger. Beer is cold. Service great
Terrible service. Ordered drinks, 20-25 minutes later they hadn't arrived. Raised hand to try to attract the attention of the multiple staff that kept walking by to no avail as they all seemed to be looking at the floor. Got up and approached our waiter to ask how our drink order was going to which he replied 'I'll sort it out straight away'. 5 minutes later same waiter came up to our table and asked who we ordered our drinks with.....um we ordered them with you! Eventually drinks arrived 10 minutes later & manager said they're on the house, which was appreciated although drink order was wrong! Simple Beer order too. Upon going to pay the bill the drinks weren't actually on the house as waiter had added an extra round. After 5 minutes of explaining to the manager she removed but was still a drink out to which I replied don't worry I'll just pay as we need to get over to the footy. Never will I book in to this place again. Terrible experience. 1 star is generous.
Stylish and cozy restaurant and bar!
beautiful view as well I ordered a burger and really enjoyed the taste I suggest you try it.
We (about 30 people) stopped here after a wedding on one of the boats nearby. Security (who also seemed to do double duty behind the bar) immediately told us they were closing in an hour, even though none of out party were drunk, or disorderly. We continued on for a further 2-3 hours - they seemed quite happy to keep pouring drinks and take our money...
I guess first impressions count, from both sides. Won't be rushing back.
Went to the woolshed for a 30th all were having fun except the bouncers who didn't understand the concept and obviously get enjoyment from ruining people's nights. As for the owner he's more highly strung than a circus tight rope and needs to take relax or retire his grumpy ass from what's supposed to be a fun industry. He should be doing all he can to entice people to the docklands area but instead doing and excellent job pushing them away. Well done mate.
Quality food. Friendly service. Warm inviting venue.
Decore is nice and mordern though the venue as a whole is under-utilised, often you can t get a seat when big sections of the restaurant are sectioned off which is frustrating. Food is average, positioned in Doclands with not much competition - a change of management could bring the venue into its own, has potential.
Exceptional service. Wine list is considerably intensive
Affordable and tasty food with large portions. Friendly service. Will go there again.
Staff were friendly, everything was clean and the vibe with live music was fantastic! Had a great night here
Nice food good location and decor but oh my gosh the wait for the food! Took about 1 hour to get the food. There was a sign warning on a long wait during busy times however when we ordered it was pretty empty and by the time we got our food it wasn't too much busier.
Could have been 5 stars with better signage and direction. Otherwise a fine venue
Nice little hangout for post-work drinks or a catch up with friends
Aggressive looking security. Huge venue with closed off areas to squeeze people into smaller spaces. Dont get that. It makes cleaning easier I guess.....
Amazing ambience and food after renovation, excellent venue for office parties
Try the overcooked duck swimming in greasy fat on a bed of semi hydrated cucumber for just under $40 it will probabley put you off duck for the rest of your life .
Great place for after work drinks. Spacious and reasonable prices. Good views of the harbour.
Service awesome. Good food. Normal prices for city. Well hung Wednesday how could you resist?
Sat and had a few in Australia Day, beautiful spot, had a very nice couple of hours..however ... as the designated driver I was very thirsty except for the water. . I ordered a soda water and at $6.20 I only had one. .. surely the rest of the alcohol could make up for a cheaper soda water for people driving..... constructive comment
Visited here a couple of days ago. Drinks very expensive and service slow even with very few people there. Inside looks nice and quite a comfortable place.
Ran out of non-beef food in the bar and wouldn't entertain patrons ordering food from the bar menu. Very slow service too.
Good meeting place. Menu looks good but we just had a drink. Nice and welcoming inside. Good location
Nice place for a drink and meet friends. Recommended
Better than average coffee, great atmosphere and long open hours.
Great place for a drink with friends in the afternoon. The service is a touch slow but acceptable. Big screens great for watching the tennis. Easily accessible via the 70 tram.
I have to say I only went there for a party. The music was good the venue was excellent and the place was rocking. We were so interested in talking to everybody there that I couldn't give you an idea of what the food was like because I just didn't get a chance to try any. On the night I went there were dancing girls and music and it seemed like a fair sort of place to hang out. Not sure what it would be like for a normal function but for us it was a Knockout. Unfortunately I left early as I had work the next morning but my mates were there till obviously late as they didn't get home to nearly 2.
This restaurant is one of my favorite in Melbourne, such a great atmosphere. I love the menu and their themed nights like the ever famous "Pig and Pinot".
The service is excellent. They were late serving our kids meal and they gave it for free. They also gave activity bag for the kid.
Chicken parma is ordinary. Nothing very special. Just like a pub dish.
Salmon and flounder dish was good.
The wagyu steak was a big disappointment. There is no marbling at all. The menu indicates that it is a Sher wagyu but we felt robbed of $41. There is no wagyu taste at all.
Modern, contemporary, friendly staff and great service! Great place for drinks/food before the football or just with friends anytime! To all the staff at the Woolshed - you are awesome!!!
Great food and service, but hard to breathe and see with all that smoke, so I'm knocking a star off.
Great looking venue, service really good, staff very friendly and food top rate for a pub.
Would highly recommend it.
The duck was beautiful. But very expensive for lunch. A meal and a beer for $50. Probably could do better at many of the nearby venues.
I've been once and really enjoyed the charcuterie board. Regrettably, I've never been able to enjoy it again as they don't let sober people in. A group of women in their 30s/40s who also appeared sober were not allowed in...bouncers need an ego check. Won't bother trying to go back.
Worst burger I have ever had. Worse even than a macca's cheeseburger. It was undercooked (oozing blood undercooked) and the brioche bun was stale and flakey.
Realise it was a busy night but to be told we had to be out in an hour of our booking time and there were no alterations to the menu was ridiculous.
Overrated and overpriced. Don't bother - there's much better options on Docklands!!
Only plus side was the staff were friendly and amenable.
