The Wheatsheaf if you think you'll be passing a little locals pub with not much to offer how wrong you would be. They do lovely fresh fish meals plus lots of other meals has a good ethical policy to waste animals and fish it is family run the beers are fresh I'm the staff are very attentive don't just drive past like I've done for 30 years now I've gone there where I would definitely go back.

A countryside gem. Honest and (very) local produce cooked beautiful in a comfortable and friendly environment. If only all pubs could be of this quality and nature. Well done for giving something great to a very picturesque village.

Absolutely fantastic pub/restaurant, don't miss it.

Lovely old pub with friendly helpful staff and freshly cooked, locally sourced organic food and drink.

There were 5 of us and we had a range of things on the menu and all were tasty and perfectly cooked, can't fault anything so a worthy 5 stars.

I don't usually review pubs negatively because I am a great supporter of them as important parts of our communities.
The Wheatsheaf is an exception. It really needs to do better.

My wife had "braised leaks". This very tiny dish consisted of leaks so stringy and undercooked, she couldn't finish them.

Great food and lovley beer. Menus was easy to choose and not overbearing for choice. Nice environment that's tastefully furnished and deigned. Little shop upstairs that sell quaint items. Been three times and will go again.

Absolutely adored The Wheatsheaf pub. The atmosphere was amazing with extremely friendly and professional owners and staff. I tried one of the wood fire pizzas and can confidently say it was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. I highly recommend this pub, its perfect for a nice meal or simply a drink in the outdoor garden area.

Stopped on our way through to Reading and it was a glorious sunny lunchtime! We tried some of their home fried crisps and ales and then ordered lunch. I had carrot and fennel soup which was delicious and a side of welsh rabbit. My partner had a pork fat pizza and her mind was blown! We were so well fed and relaxed we didnt want to leave! The staff were cheerful and polite and the pub itself is situated in a beautiful spot. Highly recommended and they have a big sunny beer garden and a shop upstairs for crafts and bricabrac.

The most delicious traditional Sunday lunch I have ever eaten. My foodie Dad (74) said, with a tear in his eye, 'This is what beef used to taste like before supermarkets.' And the trimmings were equally delicious - pureed parsnip, roasted carrots (still sweet), the most delectable savoy cabbage (cooked but still JUST crunchy), fab Yorkshire pud, PERFECT roast pots and the GRAVY ..... YUM!!! All served to us in our own private room with our dogs on the floor in the corner, exhausted after a long fast walk to the pub. Thank you Lauren and Ollie: the ambience and culinary skill at your place are to die for. We will back soon and often. Anna

Lovely little pub with a very friendly community. I just hope the owners start appreciating the locals a little bit more and start taking their contribution on board. We all supported the pub when it first started but unfortunately we were quickly alianated by some unfriendly behaviours Which put people off. I haven't been since which is quite a while now but am hoping lessons were learned and things are much better now.

Never disappoints. They don't normally do a traditional Sunday roast but did this weekend as a one off so we thought we would try it. Everything cooked to perfection, just as it always is.

I just popped in serendipitously going back home.
Welcomed with a warm smile.
Great selection of spirits and beers. A pint of the royalist went down well.
Chargrilled octopus and chickpea stew is a must. Great find!
Will treat myself again in a couple of weeks time.
We'll done The Wheatsheaf!!

A really nice pub. Beautiful surroundings and excellent beer selection. Nicely done up and very friendly staff. Food selection was not what I expected though - heavy Italian influence with really good pizzas. Child and dog friendly.

Great quality all round - good thoughtful ale selection, nice lagers and not usual run of the mill rubbish, quality wine menu too. Food excellent - if you ever see the fish Scotch egg on the menu just do it! Great focus on sustainability too. Brilliant night out.

A well kept pint and a nice lunchtime pizza in the beer garden on a sunny afternoon. Friendly staff welcomed my large dog. Nice interior and you can see into the kitchen. Not cheap, but on a par for the area. Only minor criticism was that Gents toilets were a little ropey for an up scale pub - but won't stop me returning.

Delicious food. Great range of beers and wines. Lovely decor inside and a pleasant beer garden. Highly recommend. Good value too, as the food is all local and really fresh. I had the fish cake starter as a main and the frangipani today and they were both REALLY good. I didn't fancy the rose cream so they swapped it with strawberry sorbet. YUM.

A great pub with lovely staff and owners. More than I can say for a small group in the community who seem unable to appreciate how lucky they are to have such a nice pub in their vicinity and who choose to victimise the owners by means of an online smear campaign. Shame on you.
