I booked an ocean view room and ended up with a view of an hvac unit, a side street, and a tree. Front desk was unaccomodating when I asked for a higher floor. Was only staying one night so I let it go. But don't feel like I got my money's worth at all.

The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort met and exceeded my expectations. Wonderful staff and fantastic view from my ocean side balcony. Restaurants where fantastic. The meeting space where we held our professional event was also great. Recommend for any professional event or of you are looking for a place to stay with the family

At this price point, I didn t expect 5 star accommodations but I did expect a higher level of cleanliness than you would see at a cheap hotel. The grounds are beautiful, the location is nice and the convenience of the equipment rentals, on site dining, etc. was great. The lobby, pools, and spa all met our expectations- our massages were exceptional. However, our room was far from anything resembling clean.
When we arrived, there was old stinky food in the fridge from the last guests. Nothing was wiped off- this was evident from the layer of dust. There are stains and caked in stuff all in the carpet. Our feet are black after walking around on them- we have a one year old and I don t feel comfortable letting him crawl/walk/play around on the floors. Everything is dusty, old, stained up. The bathtub had a thick layer of mold in the crack- I attached a photo of what it looked like AFTER I wiped it with a towel. Not much of a heavenly bath after a long day. The coffee cups were not replaced between guests. They were dirty and just put back face down. Honestly, this was probably the dirtiest hotel room I ve ever stayed in.
The pools are wonderful but in the evening get less family friendly. There was a group of six people smoking cigarettes IN the pool, close to kids. They smoked so much they actually kept ash trays on the side of the pool. There was also an intoxicated couple who were beyond overly affectionate in the pool near children.. it went on for over an hour and several employees walked by and said nothing to them.
I spoke to the manager about these issues and was refunded one of my four nights. However, that s still over $1000 for the remaining three nights which I think it utterly ridiculous for the quality of the room and our overall experience. We love nicer resorts, but next time will try out Omni or Sonesta.

One of the best brunch restaurants on Hilton Head is hidden away in this hotel. Great options, including plenty of healthy fruits, smoothies, etc. The grounds are pretty amazing too, the koi pond is serene despite sitting adjacent to the main pool area. A good place to visit but bring your wallet.

Lovely setting, but room was not very great. Paid extra for ocean view. No robes and some kind of very lumpy blanket/quilt on the bed. Toilet wouldn't flush properly for a full day. When I asked a member of housekeeping to get someone to check it and clean the room while I was gone, nothing was done. It wasn't bad, but I won't go back.

Being located on the beach was great and it was easy to reserve seats under an umbrella to lounge. However, the hotel itself could have been better. During our stay, the hotel made a less than optimal effort to cover up the stench of mildew in the hall.

My wife and I stayed at the Westin for one night to attend a wedding. We enjoyed a recently renovated room with a direct ocean view. It was very clean, updated and comfortable. We loved the cabana area with three pools, lots of cozy lounge chairs, and quick access to the beach. It was easy to order food and drinks from the restaurants in the cabana area. We would definitely go back for a longer stay!

Very nice location, room was very clean. Slight mix-up with the registration causing the wifi not to work, quick call to the front desk remedied the problem. Multiple pools are available including a covered pool for those wishing to get out of the sun (or the rain, although we did not experience any). Food and drinks are tasty, but on the pricey side, as is typical of resorts. Easy access to the beach, and options for renting beach chairs, umbrellas, bicycles, etc. are plentiful.

VERY beautiful resort!! Everything my husband and I were looking for on our honeymoon! The only reason why I gave it 4 stars was because when we were in our room, all we heard the entire time was people opening and closing their slider door, the water running when people took showers, and people talking in their rooms. So very thin walls! We didn t let this hinder our vacation in any way, but just a fair warning for those who are light sleepers! We will definitely be back!

It might be too early or out of season but, regatdless, for a "luxury" resort guest services was terrible.

I only rated the hotel a 2 because the valets were really good, the Carolina Room dishes were good but the rest of the services were pretty bad

So the place is very nice in term of the atmosphere... however that's about it. They claim there are multiple places to eat on the resort, however they are all the same menu, and very over priced. So if you want to go to a place that has a huge selection and good prices head to skullbones Boathouse (about 10 minutes away).

The room constantly had noise banging from about 6AM to midnight. We even reported it the first night and nothing came from it. They charge a resort fee, regardless of the fact we were not made aware of it beforehand booking through a third party vendor.

For the most part the people were friendly, but it left a lot to be desired compared to what their webpage claimed. Doubt seriously we'll consider coming back.

I had a pre paid stay and I stayed an extra night. The hotel property charged me twice for one night. Also, i ordered food and when i re ordered drinks they charge for twice for room services. A pepsi and lemonade costs me $6.00 plus room service charge. I will never stay here again nor recommend anyone else.

Beautiful location! White sandy beaches. Lots of pools. Amazing spa services. The food was incredible - I was impressed with every meal, they far surpassed my expectations. The service staff was very friendly even during the off season.

I always love walking into a Marriott property! We checked in on Valentine's night and the location was full but there was only 1 person at the front desk. The room is always top notch and the lavender sachet was an extra plus!

I am afraid that I did not like this place. The wait to check in was a long one, and the people at the check in counter were quite formal, and a bit cold. Also it was a hike of a long distance to my room. I am a platinum member and would have expected a bit better. The best part of the whole thing was a long walk along the Atlantic beach which was nice.

Their Carolina Room restaurant I thought was rather stiff and formal. I am a single person who travels alone, and they did not seem to quite know what to do with a single at dinner, especially one dressed in blue jeans, but that seemed to be the norm for the place. There really were no other restaurant options in the evening except this one, at least when I was there.

Although I cannot attribute it necessary to the Westin or the restaurant, I also came down with a horrible case of food poisoning, and spent most of the day in my room, trying to stay hydrated.

I'm sure many people liked this place, but for a single senior, who was hoping to have a good two days to walk the beach in a friendly atmosphere, it was a big disappointment.

Incidentally the information on this hotel states that there is free parking, which is not true, as it is included in the resort fee of $25.00 a day for self-park.

Very nice spot. We've been coming here 3 years in a row now. The service this year has gotten noticeably better. The drinks are wonderful and reasonably priced. Most of the food is good, though anything tomato based has a definite middle school quality. The staff is very responsive to special requests. The rooms are nice. But when booking there is no way to choose even what floor you are on. Even after booking there is no one who can give you your room number. I wish this would change, as there are certain rooms and areas we love. But it is more like a lottery. The rooms are fairly clean. But there are chipped furnishings and twice we've gotten to our room to find cigarette ash on the balcony. The hotel is on the North end of long line of hotels. Every other hotel has a great view of packed beaches. Here, though, the beach seems more private. Due to the shape of the hotel the pool areas are also more private. It feels very exclusive, and has easy access to the rest of the island.

The view and ocean are amazing. Poolside service was also great. The drinks were a bit pricey, but we otherwise had a great dining experience. I highly recommend and would return the next time I visit Hilton Head Island.

I want to give at least 4 stars as Very nice hotel and a very nice spot on the Hilton head Island. Try to avoid a room that overlooks the building site construction. Staff tried to be helpful But didn't really address our issues of compliant. Traveled along way to stay there but feel we were not heard and brushed off with valid issues concerning early morning construction noises.
Come off season as it gets very busy at weekends. I'm staying there tomorrow for the next three nights and hoping for a better service received these last four nights. Great place to go and stay if you love golf and walking miles on empty sandy beaches.

Positive: Nice upgraded rooms; Solid pool area; beach accessible; good omelets in the Charleston room

Negative: Slooooooowwww service; very understaffed; took a long time to check in (only 1 desk person on a Friday); valet was slow (again, only two people on a busy golf weekend); restaurant food was mediocre; beach towels seemed old; more umbrellas in the pool area would be nice

As one who travels for a living and is on a strict diet, I was horrified to find that in this vast hotel, there was not one, not ONE, microwave oven available for resident use. They did not have any in the guest rooms, in the commons areas or for use in the dining facilities. When asked, they responded that they had to remove them due to food being left in the ovens by the patrons...give me a break. Every hotel I have ever been, no matter the class, has had a microwave available for patron use with no problems. With a restricted diet, it is imperative to be able to prepare my own food (given the limited choices offered in the hotel dining facilities) and without a microwave, I might as well starve. The staff didn't seem to be concerned. I now have food rotting in my hotel room that I cannot use. Not happy,

Loved my experience here! Came only for a few days off season and it was quiet on property, we had the pools to ourselves and the room was clean! What more can you ask for? The outside pool area was great! Broken up into a few different areas which was nice and only a few steps from the beach! Would highly recommend staying!

Very sleek and beautifully layed out resort. Room was very spacious and had great furnishings, lighting and a luxurious spotless bath. But disappointing that their main restaurant doesn't have a view of the ocean, the two main rooms that do (Ocean & the Verranda) we're locked up and not being used and one has to pay $35/ day 1st day; $25/ day after that, to use the beach chairs. Most places charge that for a week, if at all. I was glad to find they didn't charge to use the pool chaises.
