This used to be our favourite hotel in Malta and we have been returning customers for about 18 years.
December 2019 we arrived for a 2.5 week stay and were looking forward to our well-earned holiday.
The afternoon we arrived the receptionist told us not to unpack because they would move our room next day since the room we were given was overlooking an excavation site!
Well ok thank you, but you knew we were coming months in advance. But it's ok we still have 2 weeks to relax, so we took it in stride.
The next room had an adjoining door, so we could hear the next door neighbours talking on the phone or watching tv etc. If you must have adjoining doors, should you not at least make some padding so that such noise is filtered?
So they moved us again. During the first 3 days we kept hearing a sort of humming noise, like someone was vacuum cleaning in the next room. At first i didn't want to say anything, but then decided to call Maintenance Services and they reported that in the room above us there is a jacuzzi and unfortunately someone had forgetting to set the timer for pump.
They fixed this and we could finally have a good night's sleep. Unfortunately someone rented the room from the next day and they were obviously happy to have a jacuzzi in the room and they kept using it all the time. The noise from the pump and jacuzzi itself was so loud that there was no hope to be able to rest.
It should be noted that the hotel itself was undergoing refurbishments. Well and good, but shouldn't you inform your guests about this so they would not book a room there for this duration if they want peace and quiet? No such information was on the website or given to us.
It's great to have junior suites with jacuzzis but again the peace and tranquility for other guests should still be guaranteed, which in this case it certainly was not!
We go on holiday to relax and not to deal with such issues. It is ok to have 1 problem, but these were persisting ones and no solution was being offered! I wrote the hotel Guest Manager, a Lithuanian, 3 e-mails explaining what was going on, and i still have to receive a reply!
We ultimately decided to leave the hotel and seek accommodation elsewhere. To add insult to injury they still charged us for the following day after we departed, even though we leave the hotel before 12 noon.
We are Titanium Elite members, not that it should matter, but especially such loyalty should serve for something, at least such status used to mean something.
All the older staff know us very well, and we have built a wonderful and friendly relationship with them all. The new staff, especially the new Guest Manager, seem to be more concerned with themselves and their arrogance rather than in customer care. Such a pity.
Unfortunately they certainly spoilt our Christmas and our vacation. The disappointment was so great that it still hurts, months afterwards. We will certainly have to think very hard before we return to Westin Dragonara, and for our next trip we will probably try the new Marriott.

Luxurious hotel with adequate and level services. Defect: unfortunately the self-service restaurant has a very varied and abundant choice, but not feasible for the refined Italian palates ... inedible first courses, terrible second courses, tasteless side dishes, nightmare desserts ... advice: throw yourself on the fruit !! Alternative preferred the b & b solution and go out for lunch and dinner ... !!!!

We had a wonderful stay. Only issue to mention is that they were remodeling the lower ground floor and the noise of construction works was annoying during breakfast. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable stay, that I wish noise wouldn't have been something I had to think about.

100% top quality resort and hotel. Everything is excellent and I couldn't recommend this resort any more. Malta is a nice island too with some gems if you explore a little. The Hard Rock Cafe at Bay View is a worth a visit. Valetta is a must see city too A++

Top notch experience at the Westin Dragonara! We loved our stay there. It felt like an amazing treat. The hotel grounds and pools were the highlights for us. You get private swim areas to the sea. We enjoyed the salt water pool at the Reef Club and the spectacular sea views. We extended our stay because we didn't want to leave. Highly recommend.

Luxury hotel but very badly organized, as soon as we arrive (4 people) they ask us for a deposit of one thousand euros without any notice, but the best part comes on the day of departure they ask us an extra 90 euros each because according to them we had booked a room for 2 while we were 4, obviously it wasn't like that we also had the booking email that proved it but making us understand in Italian was a feat since at that moment there was only an unpleasant Dutchman at the reception .. and finally they also ask us to pay the drink at the bar 3 days before we actually had already paid in cash with a lot of receipt .. fantastic place but be careful because they try to cheat you in every way

We are currently staying at the hotel. The location is good and the staff is super friendly. The overview of the hotel looks nice. However, we don't experience it as a five stars' hotel at all. The worst five-star we ever experienced. The rooms smell fungi. The bedsheet was not clean. The first day when we arrived, we got a room that smelt so badly and we couldn't stand and asked to change to another room. The water boiler we used to make baby formula in the first room was leaking water, which we experienced as a serious safety issue. The second room is however even worst. Apart from the strong fungi smell as in the first one and we can clearly see the pitures on the wall content moulds inside the glass, which is indeed disgusting. It is so noisy outside in the balcony and we can hardly open the windows during the day. The air condition sounds so noisy in the room, even with the lowest power. The bathtub was at first broken and no water could be rinsed but later fixed. One of the lamps in the bathroom is currently broken and bleaks annoyingly. We came here to relax for a week during the kid's holiday but now we wish we could return home as soon as possible. Don't feel to bother with the change of the room again and guess all of them are the same bad.
