I would not recommend you place a loved one in any of their facilities based on my current experience at Coronado Stone Oak in San Antonio TX. I truly hope their care and concern improves and I'd gladly update my review. It is unfortunate that you trust people to give your family the care they need and instead you continually have empty promises made. I will give more details at a later date.
I have worked directly with this organization for over 10 years and have personally found them to be highly focused on providing the best patient care, both environmentally and physically.
I was assaulted by a nurse, neglected, belittled, badgered, medicaid fraud I have proof of, list goes on!!!!!! This place is bad, bad, bad!!!!!!!!!!!!! From the Administrator on down. Lawered up, they aren't getting away with what they did to me. I'm not the only one!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beacon Hill in Denison!!!!! Be aware !!!!!!!!
RUNNNNN...do not walk away...Looks are deceiving .. Cantex is the worst provider...should have listen to the hospital social worker who hinted at their bad reputation!!!!..Their facilities are no where near excellence which is their motto, which is such a joke!!!....My father has been at the Colonnades Facility for over three years and we have seen it all! If we had any other choices to go to after being grandfathered in at Colonnades, we would have been out after the first three months of therapy. Take note-One was woman was attacked while in a coma by a male nurse, my dad's best friend fell and broke his neck trying to get to the bathroom, after no one answered his call button, my father has had his belonging stolen out of his room and his symptoms of a bad UTI infection were ignored till he almost ended up in the hospital. They do the bare minimum and don't care whether they have live or dead patients!
I have been working for Cantex for over 6 years. I love the people I worked with and the company. I have had nothing but good experiences here at Cantex.
I would NOT step foot in any of their poor excuse for a healthcare facilities, much less have a loved one enter.
Five of the nine Cantex facilities only get one star ratings from the Federal nursing home compare website (Medicare dot gov) Ashford Gardens has an abuse violation!
Reported by KPRC 2 News February 25, 2020.
A nurse with a PhD from a questionable "university" masquerading as "Dr.", patients who ask to get out of bed on the weekends ignored and told that will not be helped, untrained and uncaring staff, and an administrator who screams and shouts.
Take your family elsewhere.
Aides and nurses care very much about residents! But, often times are short handed and residents suffer!
**Warning** Do not send or place your loved ones in the facilities managed by Cantex Continuing Care Network. They do not hire or train staff properly on overall care for the elderly. The facilities appear clean, but they do not perform at a high level of "excellence" as stated. RUN do not walk!! Patients are neglected and some are even abused at the hands of their staff members.
The most horrible Corporation! They hire undesirables, uneducated, uncaring staff! This company should be shut down!!! They never answer call lights when the do it's just to turn it off and tells you they will be right back! They are consistently under staffed and many of the staff members work 2 shifts at a time!!! Which means no sleep they are exhausted and useless! They can't keep Executive Director's, the food is horrible never served on time and if you have it brought to your room it's cold! There is rarely a Doctor on the facility! There are no or little activities there is no cooperation from nurses nor CNA to get residents to an activity when there is one! They do NOT work as a team it's not such man for himself! There is no continuity of care at the end of the shift, as there is no report or communications between staff members
If you complain they retaliate and cover up!!! Corporate office does not care!!! They don't respond if you call them.
Don't put your loved ones here!
Terrible! One of their employees Anne Tijerina smells of marijuana when assisting a family member. They need to drug test their staff. Unacceptable throughout!
I hope everybody in this organization receives what they need to do better in their personal and professional life. The five stars are in anticipation of a positive change. Everything grows, changes and evolves. May this company do better and be prosperous. May you excel and be a leader in patient care.
Cantex employs and empowers unethical people. For example, WILLIAM GBADEBO AJIBOYE, the Director of Nursing at their Crestview Court facility in Cedar Hill, TX. He does not hold the nurses accountable for their actions and he is not skilled at prioritizing and mitigating risks in a timely manner. He's okay with people going 5 or 6 days without getting baths, patients having detached colostomy bags with their intestines fully exposed...and everything else under the sun. He does not have what it takes to be an RN, nor does he have what it takes to be the Director of Nursing over an entire facility. He's a liability and I'm not sure why Cantex keeps him on the payroll.
Do not trust your loved ones to any Cantex facility. My experience was with Oakwood Manor in Vidor, Texas. My mother fell and broke her hip. She went to Oakwood Manor for rehab. SHE WAS QUARANTINED FOR 14 days upon arrival, even though she had a recent NEGATIVE COVID test. She declined severely in the 14 days. When we saw her again, she was much worse. Mother was moved to another room after quarantine. We were told we would be restricted to 1 person to visit 2 hrs per day. The nursing staff told me to move mother to hospice because the restrictions would be reduced and we could see her as much as we wanted. Shortly after starting hospice, Oakwood called mother s doctor because her heart rate was very low. The doctor called my sister and told her we needed to get up there because mother was dying. Three sisters ran to her side. From then on we were allowed to visit... until last Saturday. A nurse we haven t seen, Taylor Ikner, insisted that mother could only have one visitor. We began trying to explain that they told us when hospice began we could see her. He was very aggressive and rude. We begged him, whispering our mother has the death rattle, pleeeease let us stay. She is dying. Taylor screams I don t care if your mother is dying. At this point, I asked the nurse to leave the room. He grabbed my arm and said oh, I m not leaving, YOU are. This nurse physically assaulted me in front of my two sisters. He called the police when we refused to leave. Taylor Ikner told the police we would NEVER be allowed back on the property. Period. In the last hours of my mother s life, we were forced to leave her. We all had negative recent COVID tests on file, and had on PPE as required. This became some sort of power struggle for the nurse. He lost his temper and was determined to win this battle at all costs. This corporation backed up these actions. In her last hours, we had to order hospital beds and equipment, get it delivered and arrange medical transport to bring mother home. She DIED a few hours after she got home. Oakwood Manor deprived us of precious time we could have been with my dying mother. Oakwood deprived our 92 yr old mother of the comfort of her children in her last hours. Shame on you Oakwood Manor and shame on you Cantex for allowing your employees to conduct themselves in such a despicable manner. THIS IS AN ADMINISTRATION ISSUE. Most of the nurses were kind and compassionate. This corporation needs to discipline the Oakwood Manor staff and require compassionate care training. This conduct was unconscionable and unnecessary. Think long and hard before you put your loved one here. My story could be yours.
It was AWESOME!!!!!!! I was really touch that the company thought that
well of me to invite me to this award show.
I arrived at Beacon Hill in Denison Tx from the hospital still completely disoriented and mainly asleep. Had no idea I was there. The driver of the rattle trap that I was transferred in picked me up dropped me off that was it. Beacon Hill said they were not expecting me at that time. This took place onThursday night. I came to myself on Saturday. Their Dr. changed my medicines. I think he was there a few minutes. Not sure since I was still disoriented.
I had total knee replacement. First time to therapy they checked to know how straight my leg was. Second time to therapy I placed cloths pens on a line. Third time I was on some machine by the window for 10 minutes...then back to the clothesline. I explained if they wanted the pens on the line they could do it.
Never had therapy on my knee, even tho my records say I was doing well in therapy.
Had one(1) bath while there. I did finally bath myself even tho I was told not to get up alone yet.
Told one lady I could see something moving on the wall. She explained there was nothing. She was correct. I finally realized it was the eye floaters that I have. Could not tell until the light was brighter. Would you not think taking care of someone wearing glasses they might have floaters?
Then there is Miss Personality (Social Worker).
She called a Psychiatrist or Psychologist not sure what he was. He was from out of town. Do you really think he drives from the Metroplex area for free. She told me she had contacted him. I explained my knee did not need him, so he was not to come to my room. Guess who showed up on Thursday. I did not even talk to him when he came to the room. I just told him to leave. He did.
I was there from May 10 to May 24. The Social Worker arranged for the extra days. During the extra days there still was NO therapy on my knee.
For some reason I stayed asleep most of the time. I would be wide awake late evening then back to sleep.
Please understand there are some fantastic nurses there. I met several of them. The one star is not for them. I would not even give the Social Worker a star. She did not listen. I think I was on the floor with people that had dementia. They just laid there. I am not sure how they fed themselves.
A year or so before my husband had been there with his knee. He had therapy 2 times a day. The Social Worker also call the Psychiatrist for him. He send him on his way. Doesn t that seem strange. Knee replacements get the Psychiatrist.
The room next to me had a monitor that the family could check on their family from home.
Everyone needs a monitor at that place.
They need a real therapist that understands how to work on knee replacement patients.
Please know where you are leaving your precious family before you leave them. They took care of you when you were small. Please care the same for them. You will be there one day.
Incase you are wondering I am 71, very active. I work and feel great. Many places treat you the way they think you should be because of your age. Not necessarily true.
