The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium Reviews

One of the few zoos I have been to where the animals mostly look content being there. The exhibits are beautiful and appropriately sized for the animals with the proper accomodations.

My only issue is not the fault of the staff or the zoo, but of the patrons... In the touch aquarium, please mind what the staff say about how to handle the animals. Remember, they are loving creatures and not toys. Treat them kindly and respectfully, please.

This zoo is very big, with lots to see. The staff members were mostly very nice and helpful. It was clean and all the animal exhibits seem to ne taken very good care of. My favorite was probably the aquarium, they have so many stingrays of all sizes which was great. There are various types of concessions all around the zoo. Definetly worth the 2 and hour drive from home.

Did the zoo snooze! Fantastic! The zoo workers were very knowledgeable about the animals. The zoo is very clean and filled with information about each animal. Great for young children.

It's was so hot that many of the animals were not out. I don't blame them. But was a nice place to go and would go again

Nice zoo and aquarium. I get that some places like this are non-profit and need the money for upkeep, but $20 a ticket for a zoo is a lot. Plus you have to pay extra for "experiences" like getting up close with a giraffe. Other than these things, the zoo was nice.

We've been going to the zoo since I was little. Now I get to bring my daughter. The membership is the best choice we've made! Out of all the zoos we've been to (DC, Cincinnati, cleveland) this one always compares very well! Thank you for all you do, and for allowing multiple generations enjoy family days here.

Amazing zoo tons of animals and their aquarium is awesome

Great way to spend a day! Feed the giraffes if you can, it take the train ride around the cheetah pen.

It's always a great day when I visit the Toledo Zoo! They've done some wonderful remodeling that make the experience so much more amazing (and it was amazing before)! I highly recommend it.

Decent zoo that looks like it will be very good after the construction is finished.

Loved the new aquarium, seeing all the different kinds of fish was really cool. It is nice seeing the animals. The food served in the food courts is very good.

Clean, well maintained, lots of animals. Wonderful Christmas light displays.

Very crowded but cool stuff to see. Make sure to stop by the gorilla enclosure.

The Toledo Zoo is world class and an unforgettable experience. Especially recommend the Lights Before Christmas and concerts

We are very much against the Christmas lie but we love to go here to see the lights in winter with the kids and grandkids!! Fun family time!!

Don't go early when they first open most shops, food, and animals are still sleeping. One monkey exhibit the animal seemed to not feel well as there was diarrhea all down the window that was gross, poor thing

This zoo is probably the best zoo we have visited. Wonderful selection of animals, easy walking distance. Perfect visit!

We have been to 3 different zoo's so far this summer. This, to me was the best one. Kids loved feeding the giraffes and seeing all the different animals. We all had a great time

All zoos are fun unless the main attraction is chickens.

Best Zoo in the country. Amazing and diverse exhibits. One of the best places to spend the day in North West Ohio. It is definitely the must do zoo.

Beautiful zoo! I do however hate that the events sometimes cost so much! A huge plus is that if you are a Lucas county resident, your family can get in free on Mondays!

We have been members for a couple years. Easy to move around and good views of the animals. Food can be hard to find because the main places are very busy.

Awesome improvements over the years. The new museum is fantastic.

Seems like they don't put all the animals out to be viewed. It's disappointing. Miss some of the animals from when I was younger. Lights before Christmas is the bomb. You'll love it but take plenty of extra money for the add on's. Lots of pics for the photographer to take. Aviary area is fantastic.

There is always something to see at the Toledo zoo, even when it is raining! The zoo is always adding something new to keep you looking for what is coming next.
Food prices are a little high for the quality of food. Also some of the food choices change from year to year. -There is also alcohol available for purchase. -

Great place for some family time. I have been here many times and never had a bad experience, well run and the staff are courteous.

This has to be one of the best zoos in the nation My mom came and visited from Denver and she said that this was one of the best zoos she had ever seen. My nine-year-old son absolutely loved it and it was a great way to spend the day.

The holiday lights are beautiful. Weather this Christmas was great for walking around and admiring the lights. Nice for family outing.

Only two complaints.We tried the Romen and Lo mein, The Cafe, young staff complained about preparing it, and it was lacking in eveyway. The young workers all seem to be bratty and moody. The highlight was asain theme. The acrobat was just o.k., the other two performers were awesome. Another thing I dont like. The small tanks for the larger fish. They have zero room to move around. Gift shop food so much more adequate. Yes I enjoy Toledo Zoo. But the prices are ridiculous, not budget friendly. One again the some of the tanks are to small. Animals sea creatures have rights as well as humans. Putting animals on display for human enjoyment doesn't feel right.

We had such a great time here. We usually go to the Detroit zoo, but will be splitting time between the two. Things are cheaper ie. Food and drinks, rides and such at Toledo.. Will go again many many times..

Update- After coming back to this zoo multiple times i have to say its one of the nicest Zoo's in the region. The add on of the new Promedica mueseum of natural history is amazing. The zoo always seems very upkept. This Zoo is a great day of fun for the entire family. Highly recommended!!!

Went to the Amitheatre for a concert for the first time and it was excellent

Mostly of an African exhibit. Bring your own food because the restaurants there are very expensive. Restrooms can be very gross. On weekends the zoo is packed. Its better to go during the week. Shows are fun to watch. Some of the staff can be rude, especially in the stores and restaurants. Fun place for the family.

Good for the family, some how we were lucky, admitted free for all that day.

It was nice that they put the fish in their own little tank and they had piranhas in the new aquarium

Love this zoo. Lots to see, easy to walk through, beautiful grounds, extensive selection of animals in natural settings, incredible aquarium, zip line and more.

We've been zoo members for 17 yrs. Every year the Toledo zoo adds new amazing exhibits polar bears, elephant safari, aquarium, water splash pad, and this year high ropes adventure course perfect timing too. We now have teenagers this got their attention and they loved it! We Love our Zoo!

We sure did enjoy the zoo today!. Looking forward to going again.
The only thing I would change is to make the penguin exhibit a little bit bigger for the Penguins make it a little bit more exciting for them and have more room for people to see the Penguins it's really tight.

I am a zoo guy. Been to many zoos, and this one ranks up there at the top of the list. A little over 2hour drive from my house, but became members so we would/could visit more often. Go and enjoy!

BLT at the Big Blue Express - I had to request that the bread be toasted. 2 pieces of bacon and 1/2 slice of tomato after waiting for 15 minutes. Awful!

This is the best zoo ever! It's so fun. It's kind of expenseive but other than that it's fun and the train ride was really cool.

A nice sized zoo with a variety of animals. Most of all the enclosures offer an up close and personal experience with the animals as well. Some of the more popular animals located at the Toledo Zoo include elephants, giraffes, polar bear, tigers, hippos, and gorillas. There is also many species of birds, a good size aquarium, and reptile building. I would definitely recommend visiting if you're in the area.

Because a lot of the animals were out we visit the Detroit 3 times this year and all the animals were sleep I really enjoyed myself at the Toledo zoo

Love the Toledo Zoo, very clean, everyone was observing social distance. Was very hot that Sat. so many of the animals were not outside but in their inside exhibit.

Great collection of animal exhibits, plenty of places to eat. Their Africa exhibit is amazing! There is a challenge course and zip line, a train around the exhibit and a place where you can feed the giraffes

I loved seeing their snow leopard, the Christmas lights are awesome every year!

Well kept and the aquarium is one of the nicer ones I've seen

Beautiful, quiet, enjoyable - our grandchildren loved it!

They didn't have tigers and elephants were inside but they had everything else! Made detroit zoo look pathetic this year. The polar bears and hippos were active with everyone and being playful away the glass, it was a blast! We got a membership at Toledo zoo an hour away now rather than the pathetic detroit zoo 15 minutes down the road from us

Love this zoo! We have been coming here from Akron every year for the last several years. The aquarium here is impressive, my favorite part!
