Watched the lions game over breakfast. Great coffee. Fantastic bacon sandwich. Friendly staff. And a great win for the lions.

The bar is amazing. Great beer and the food is excellent. The cheese board is famous. The hotel is functional and clean.

Went in for a few drinks, staff were friendly and knowledgeable and it had a lovely atmosphere.

Very impressed, enjoyed a nice bottle of wine served correctly with nice glasses, iced water accompanied and staff very helpful and friendly.

Amazing gastropub food at a very good price. Would highly recommend the belly pork.

Plenty of seating areas, including an outside space with benches and umbrellas. A wide selection of real ale's and all manner of other beverages

Excellent service. Breakfast was very good, however, lunch on our first day was disappointing, we'll try it out again in a months time as we've booked for spring bank.

This is a very nice place, somewhere I have enjoyed on my past visits.I came here for lunch with my granddaughter, I asked a staff member if we could order drinks, she pointed to the bar and said thats where I would have to order. At this time there was no one behind the bar, another customer arrived, we waited and waited. Our order was eventually taken, our fish and chips arrived, the batter on the underside of the fish was soggy, and the chips could have been hotter.
The staff were lovely, someone did come and ask if everything was ok but, not wanting to spoil our precious time together I didn't make a fuss. I feel reluctant to come again and left feeling very disappointed.

boutique hotel. Rooms are small but clean and have tea and coffee making facilities. Only there for one night but bed was very comfortable and wide selection of food and drink available from the bar.

Absolutely stellar couple of nights stay with awesome staff (special mention to Niamh for being so accommodating and going above and beyond when we couldn't make it back to Manchester. Absolute star). Rooms are bang on and breakfast is top notch for a fussy gluten free vegan like myself. If we're ever in Lancaster again this will be our first and only port of call.

It's a little more upmarket here which is ok if you like that. I prefer more relaxed pub. Had a selection of Ales also variety of G&T.

Stayed here 1/08/2020 with my husband for our anniversary, we went for a luxury room wasn t disappointed very spacious had everything we needed ie tea/coffee ,iron & board, toiletries.Got free breakfast which was included with room price, excellent choice and all staff were wonderful very attentive.Definitely stay here again will be recommending to family & friends.

The place is really in the center, so it can get a little noisy on a Saturday night. Besides that, it was a very nice stay. Staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast was very good. The room was today and nicely decorated. The bathroom was clean and fully functional. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended !

It was a clean, relaxed and welcoming place to eat. A little pricey but the atmosphere in the garden on a a sunny day made up for that.

Get place to stop over when driving Scotland to London

Nice hotel located in the heart of Lancaster.
Within walking distance of the castle and more sights.
The suite is really beautiful! Clean hotel with very friendly staff. Ensuite bathroom.
We have tasted quite a few dishes from the menu and these were very salty, which is a shame. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, the poached egg was overcooked and no longer running in the middle, the toast was unfortunately not toasted like you are used to in England, it was just brown bread with butter.
There is still some profit to be gained, the food is detrimental to the other things in the hotel unfortunately. Because otherwise very satisfied with everything and again warm and friendly staff. Tasty gin of the week and good wine. They also have prosecco cocktails.

I may be wrong but I think this is the only pub in the city serving the full range of Lancaster beers. So an ideal place to sample very local brews. It's a cosy place too.

I am stayed here a few times. The rooms are excellent (they are however far too hot, and with no air-con there is not a lot you can do other than lie there and bake), the food is excellent and the drinks selection is the best in town. The staff however let the place down, a mid-week visit offers a reasonable level of service but at a weekend the bar is just too busy for the staff to care about the hotel guests. I would stay again but will be avoiding sunny weekends in the summer.

Good choice of cask ales, regularly serve darker and stronger ales rather than just light and hoppy. Manageress really knows her stuff - well worth a visit.

Fantastic place. Stayed with my partner for a long weekend and had a fab time. The food is fantastic and a great mix of pub classics and modern gastro dining, great selection of local and regional beers. Rooms were cosy and the service was fantastic. Great for a weekend getaway or for a pint, great hidden beer courtyard too!

Had dinner on a Tuesday night. Nice tasty food, but quite slow to appear. Full allergen information available for all food which was great! Wide selection of ales.

The Sun is probably equal best pub in Lancaster by most standards. The prices reflect the premium approach, so if you're visiting from London or Switzerland you won't be surprised at the prices but if you're from anywhere else you might be a bit shocked. The drinks selection is fantastic - lots of imported beers, whiskies, wines etc. There's also a table service system that works pretty well. Be sure to visit the old well in the back room (what used to be the courtyard) - it's an old listed feature though it looks a bit grottier now than it did when they first opened that room.

It's a very nice pub, but sometimes it's too loud and the main room doesn't have much place to sit down.

Loved my stay at the Sun. A friendly place and well located so I could walk everywhere. Weekends, the crowd stays up late outside talking so bring ear plugs or stay up with them and enjoy the locals.

Nice kept establishment, however the I'd love to order signs don't work had to send the man child to the bar
