I am disappointed I purchase a $38 lobster and they wanted to give me a dead one. I told them it was not moving and they changed it to another one. hopefully it was not changed in the back.

The worst experience on customer service, me and my family came over to have a good time the server didn't took our order right, my 3 kids waited over one hour for their hamburgers, we ended up paying with no apologies of the server i woulnt recomend this place or come again worst time and money.
Food was good but waitress was extremely rude and slow. After we left and only gave her a small tip she ran after us and forced us to give her at least 18% tip. Never going there again!
This place is horrible. Overpriced and tasteless food. Please help yourself by choosing another restaurant. I went there despite it's low ratings because this was the only one open on the thanksgiving day.
Good service. Food, not so great. Alfrado sauce was bad. Seafood was okay. Noodles not so good.
very expensive
fried dish with 5-6 prawns and all fries around $ 20 (+ tax + 15% "mandatory" tip)
Stoned Crab proposed for $ 165 (4-5 pieces) (I didn't take it)
The only reason I m giving this place poor reviews is simply because of the service we had. There was a huge lack of communication with the waiter and my husband and I. 7/10/2020 there s a pandemic going on, I get it. We support all the small businesses and restaurants as well as tip 22% or higher. The waiter shows us the recommendations and I tell him we would like to start with drinks and the lobster bisque (which was amazing mind you) and then the tower of seafood to share as a couple. The waiter brings us our drinks as well as the soup but never mentions hey you re food will be out in this amount of time needless to say ... several minutes go by which then turn into 45 minutes and the food never comes out. I figured with it being broiled and fried food it would take more time. When we see everyone around us getting their food we finally ask someone hey can you check on our food? The lady goes to our waiter who then states you guys never ordered food, I thought you were chilling with drinks?! Riddle me this... even if we are chilling with drinks why wouldn t you still follow up asking us if we want to order food? It s like we were never taken into consideration. I m a nurse, so , customer service is like patient care...efficiency and consistency is EVERYTHING. This place left a bad taste in my mouth especially since I m from out of town and it was recommended by a dear friend. First impression is everything and this place only has 3.8 stars. Moral of the story, check reviews before you go out to dine... the reviews were all right! We will not visit here again!
Their boils are a fantastic pile of food to keep you busy for a long while.
The restaurant, staff and food where terrible. I would not recommend anyone to eat at this restaurant. Went on fish boat next day and over half the boat start a conversation about the stoned crab restaurant and how terrible everything was and they would never go back. You would think that with the prices they charge it would have at least as good as eating at McDonalds . DONT EAT HERE DONT EAT HERE
The best shrimp Alfredo I've ever had. My husband kept saying "yum" over his meal as well.
Other than the stones crabs everything else was not really working for me. My fish was over cooked and dry. The creole sauce was simply water and seasoning. I understand that it was late when I arrived, but for the cost $200, the quality of the food was so substandard. Our waiter was nice, but I wouldn't recommend this place.
Horribly Over priced food.
I went here to enjoy some fresh seafood. The food is horribly over priced , we ordered one pound of the stoned crab claws , One cup of soup, and two drinks and the bill was $104.00 , now to me that's a bit much . We sat at the bar and the service was terribly slow. I can get fresh seafood elsewhere on the island and not pay those prices. Never again will I go there , just the soup in a mug and it was tomato bisque was $ 12.00 , c'mon twelve bucks for a mug of soup. If you have a family or if you are on a fixed income do NOT GO HERE, the views where ok but not for 100 bucks, non of the prices were on the menu which tells you something. For warned everyone.
Great experience! The bartenders are amazing and the food is excellent. Had the Local Fisherman's Platter and it so fresh. Drinks are awesome and Lance's Pina Coladas are wickedly delicious! 100% recommend The Stoned Crab.
Most delicious seafood that you can have in key west
They don't honor their words!
Stopped by them at night before closing, and asked one of the hosts if they would cook our own catch of fish, he informed us that yes, they would charge $10/fish including 2 side plates until 2:00pm then it will be $14/fish after.
We got our own "cleaned" catch next morning and we invite few family members, we got charged $18/lbs to cook our OWN fish!!!!
We spoke to the manager and she replied that "whoever you spoke to last night wasn't our employee"!! That's what we charged and we can't do nothing about it!!!
I paid $724 to cook my own fish with some extra orders for kids!!!
I give them 2 stars because of their recipes and their service, but will never do it again!
Lunch was completely overpriced and portions very small. Will not go back.
Super place for high prices and underwhelming service. If you feel bad for saving money elsewhere, then you'll feel good here. Seriously though, my opinion is shop around and check google reviews.
Horrible service we waited an hour for someone to come take our order and we had to go ask them because no one came, food is over priced it wasn t that good it was cold and so not worth it! I don t recommend going there
The lobster was great, even allowed to pull it out of the water! Friendly and courteous service the price $ 125 for 2 people (2 drinks, lobster with 8? Side dishes) still bearable.
Nice location, expensive in comoare to what yoy get
PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO RUIN YOUR VALENTINE S NIGHT (or to learn how to humiliate a family that only wanted to have dinner together)
Last night was Valentine s Day in Brazil, so I decided to pick a good place to go with my wife and kids to celebrate. I picked The Stoned Crab because it looked like a nice place, close to the water, and we would like to try the crabs.
We arrived around 10:30pm (the website says it is open till 11pm) and were guided to a table. The waiter was nice, but he seemed in a hurry and very busy. He left us with the menu and stayed long time without coming back. Hum
When he finally came back we ordered our food. After more than 30 minutes of total time in the The Stoned Crab, the waiter came with the bill (without even giving us the food!), saying they had to close the tap, therefore we must pay in advance. This seemed very strange, and we decided not to pay without having the food. My wife was really disturbed with this, as she thought they were not trusting we could afford paying the bill.
Few minutes after they bring the kids food, the waiter came back to explain that my wife's "first catch" fish WAS NOT GOING TO BE PREPARED, as the kitchen was already closed!!?? Thanks God we decided not to pay in advance! He mentioned that they should not have seated us because the restaurant was already closed when we arrive around 10:30pm. Again, very strange, as their website says 11pm.
I received my Key West Coconut Shrimp (without the sauce that is described in the menu), which tasted like rubber. My younger son thought his chicken tender was in fact fish, because it tasted strange to him (so to me). I had to go pick the fork and knife myself as the waiter disappeared without never coming back.
In the end, it was the worst experience we had so far, not only here in the States, but in all countries that we have travelled and lived. My wife left the place crying and wanted to go back home, leaving the hotel earlier and ruining our vacation.
I received an apology by someone that did not introduced himself (not really sincere for me), and had to pay the whole bill, as if nothing has ever happened (my wife's fish was taken out).
I understand places sometime drop the ball, but this was a total Customer Services disaster!
Do not go here!!!!!!
My experience was terrible. I'm gonna make this really short, kids chicken was raw, yes raw. Caught waiter adding liquor to my tab that I didn't have. In the end waiter copied my card info and charged 400. On it. DONT GO!!!! Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else; unless you want to deal with your bank after your vacation.
Nice atmosphere but difficult to enjoy when you're sitting in uncomfortable plank board chairs. We ordered the large seafood tower and I was not impressed. Blackened fish was dry, stone crab was hot (ewww) there was a shell in the Cole slaw. Other than those things, shrimp and lobster were delicious and service was great. They didn't skimp on alcohol in the drinks either.
The waitress Martina was the best. The food was great and they add the gratuity to your bill 15%. I guess that saves the head scratching after a full meal. But may short your server if service was exceptional.
Meal was advertised on the menu to be served with corn bread which did not come out untill after Bill was paid and was undercooked in the mild.
No oysters.....really!! Waited 45 minutes to even see a server. We couldn't understand what she was saying as she didn't speak English very well. Crab legs were over cooked, and seriousy....they were out of oysyers. We left hungry and very disappointed. If I could give negative stars, I would've.
Pricey, but you're in key west. Food and service was hrest
I wanted to give it more stars, but after reading the owner's responses to some of the reviews I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
My friend and I stopped by here on the way to the store to get a quick drink and some oysters that I had been craving. The drinks were good and the oysters were exactly what I wanted and very fresh. The prices were high, but was to be expected with the freshness of the food. We even purchased some shrimp from the market to take home and cook.
For the food and atmosphere I would have given it at least 4 stars. I can't comment on the service due to the fact that we sat at the bar and just had one drink each and shared an order of oysters.
Now for the reason of my 2 star review. I work in the construction industry as a Production Manager. I manage a crew of 10 Project Managers and I personally handle all of the customer complaints. I read through many of the reviews that the owner responded to and If I responded to customers the way that he has I would have been fired a long time ago. Have you ever heard the expression "The customer is always right"? Even though we all know that they are not always right. It is our responsibility (to get repeat or word of mouth business) not to tell them they are not right. In all of the responses that I read, not one time did the owner apologise and try to make it right. He just pointed out the wrong doings of the customer and belittled them. In this day and age reviews are everything. This new generation usually won't even try a new place without reading some reviews first. The owner of my company has personally went to a customer with me that had a complaint and asked them what he could do to make them happy. Even if that meant giving them some freebies (to an extent) to avoid a bad review.
So some advice I have for the owner, I would begin your responses with "I am terribly sorry that you felt that way". And use phrases like "please let me know what we can do to make it up to you" and "I would really like to regain your business".
So I am giving the owner's responses a 0 to 1. Which brings my 4 star review to a 2 star.
I would have rather opened a can of tuna on the sidewalk on a hot day. Expensive, terrible food, and bad service. Please avoid!
Best fresh seafood in KEY WEST! Live shark feedings daily, pick your own monster lobster, straight from the water!!!
They make a strawberry mojito that is to die for! And the lunch menu is pretty good
Not well trained staff, greasy tables, but good food.
Much money for you get, female bathroom was discussed
Sit by the waters edge.
We had a great mimosa and lobster fritters, yum.
A nice stop while we were out bike riding. Casual dress allowed
oily and expensive food, slow service, food arrived cold, beer came hot, my son ordered a cheese sandwich that came without cheese, would never return, I do not recommend
Gross, bad stone crab, bad food in general, there are much better places to go in key West and this isn't a good spot
I should have read reviews as my Calamari was as cold as my beer was warm! Drinks that cost that much shouldn't SUCK!!!
100% service and better food. The paella was to die for. Bo lacked nothing. And everything so fresh. An exquisite experience if you like seafood.
Okay, but overpriced and over cooked. Could barely peel the shrimp.
Very poor wait staff who don't speak English as their first language. Drink order screwed up and entrees. Very very over priced food of average quality. And if you order stone crab prepare for the sticker sshock. Price was not disclosed at time of ordering. A deceptive business practice at least
Avoid this tourist trap.
Very disappointing meal / experience. Out of most items on the menu. My fresh catch was over cooked and cold. Ordered sides which they didnt have so they substituted without coordinating substitute with us prior. Appetizers were fantastic. Friends had steamed platter which they said was great. Spoke with manager and he did compensate us. Not sure I would try again. Expensive meal.
Waiter was careful to address food allergies. The upsell on everything was a bit annoying though.
We went here during a trip for our honeymoon and we really enjoyed it. There was no wait at all and we got to sit right next to the water. Our waiter was so friendly and attentive. We got to feed sharks during dinner and our waiter brought us a piece of key lime pie to celebrate our honeymoon.
Communist propoganda posters redone all over the place.....
Me and my sister ate here alot the food was delicious and the staff is great what a great vacation
Our first stop on this trip to KW - not sure why we haven't stopped here before, but it will be a regular from now on. There is both inside and outside seating and the restaurant can go from 'open' to zipped up when the weather dictates. Seating at the bar is a bit limited if you're like us and like to eat and drink up on the stools. The bisque was a little too tomatoey for my tastes, but I like my bisque to be pretty darn creamy. The calamari rings were a nice 'twist' on what you normally see - with flavored breading mild wing or honey garlic - just like you get with wings - being on the offering. We loved the honey garlic.
I m not going to lie, you re paying for the atmosphere here. It s not a bad spot on a beautiful day though.
I never write reviews but felt I should this time.
WAY OVER PRICED, and NOT FRESH! They claim they catch and serve their own fish on a daily basis. No way possible!
More like ...Fresh rabbit, directly out of the hat.
Fish & chips at a fast food restaurant is a more accurate description, with no disrespect to fast food restaurants.
The place was almost empty which should of been a red flag but we were exhausted and hungry from our drive and this place was close and advertised well.
I'm not a picky eater by any means but the food and experience were disappointing. I felt like we were taken advantage of.
Go downtown to any restaurant and you'll be much happier with your options and the atmosphere.
The crab legs on a diet you have to peel and clean your own shrimp the non alcoholic all bad till they brought coke then $5 for a can of soda and last but not least an umbrella for drinks as a toothpick. Almost forgot the $13 dollar conch fritters bitter nasty. $70 dinner for one not worth it.
Best burger I ever had. Yeah, got a burger at a crab shack. I'm that guy. Buy the burger anyway. Thank me later. Stone crab is fine too.
I was a little sad it was not crab season, but my fish was very nice and I had friendly service.
Our server Hanah was really sweet but the food was horrible..it was over cooked and over salted..this is just a tourist trap don't come here if you want good seafood!!!
We honeymooned in key west and this was one of our favorites restaurants to eat at. prices are high but you get a lot with each meal. So good, we went twice in a week. service was great, food was cooked perfectly.
It was a nice lunch. Drinks were good. Shrimp tacos were wonderful. The conch fritters were Yummy!
I loved it. Our server was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful with the menus. The place was happy and fresh feeling.
My boyfriend and I are on vacation in the keys. We have had such a great experience everywhere else but at The Stoned crab. We signed up for jet ski tour and had an hour until it began. We really wanted to try this restaurant. We walked in and saw these beautiful tabled uptop with fans and plants, and a view of the water. The girl sat us down by the entrance of the restaurant where fish was sold, bc she said it was cooler. There were a bunch of vacant good tables above with the view. She didn't even leave us a menu. We asked another waitress for menu and before my boyfriend could finish asking the very rude waitress interrupted and dismissed him. After ten minutes without a menu or asking for a drink order, we left. When I told the waitress we were leaving she said "I figured."
I hate to ask this, but I'm Cuban American and my boyfriend is black. I can't help but think she was profiling us. I felt aweful after this. I would never go back. Don't recommend it either. Very rude, wether she was racially profiling or financially profiling. It's just wrong. And was upset I had already spent $300 on jet ski tour at the affiliated hotel.
First time here. Our waiter Julio was amazing, food was prepared as ordered. All around good experience.
Seafood was by far the worst I have ever had. Expected it to be fresh. Crab was so over cooked it was like powder. Lobster was over cooked. All together paid 150 for seafood that we could have gotten same freshness back home in the mountains. Would not recommend to anyone looking for tasty seafood.
Service was poor at best, the flys were out of control and no one could take a drink order. I would never go back.
Not worth the price. Food had NO flavor. Small stone carb was over priced. :(
I was so excited to try the stone crab and was sorely disappointed. The server was not prompt and we had to get up to ask for hot sauce that she was suppose to bring. They brought out dirty appetizer plates and added on gratuity for a table of 4 after delivering mediocre service. The grouper fritters were mushy and the stone crab was over cooked and stuck to the shell. The only good thing I can say is they make a good key lime martini.
Great atmosphere! Great food! A little pricey but with the taste of the food. Wow and the portions are great. Combination of taste were fantastic. Definetly coming back.
We saw this place on the way to our snorkeling adventure. Besides the enjoyment of being able to feed a group of sand sharks the atmosphere was so awesome. The food was superb. Mathew our server made our experience even better.
Great food. Taking the necessary precautions during a difficult time.
This restaurant was OK. Very pricey for the stone crabs itself but they were fresh. The service was excellent and the location was clean.
Great place to eat. Food is cooked to perfection and very delicious. Offers a variety of fresh saltwater fish, love it. Kinda expensive but worth it.
Ordered the fisherman steamer. Fish was awful and Luke warm, shrimp was over cooked or been sitting. Very hard to peel. Crab legs were the only thing that was decent. Oh yeah, corn and potatoes sucked as well. 1st and last time we will be spending our money with this restaurant.
The server was pleasant and did a good job. The lobster was overcooked and bland tasting. Not worth the price paid.
