The spice diva was extremely rude to a photographer that was taking a picture of feast and standing a step into the shop. She could have kindly asked her to step out of the shop instead of assailing her with unfriendly words. Mind you we were the only other customers at the time, the lady was not disturbing her business. I want to support local businesses and the environment by buying in bulk w reusable glass containers, but not businesses that treat people with such disdain. #bekind

Love the Spice Diva ! I m not all that interested in spices (sorry!) but Spice Diva is a great place to get a small amount of fresh, flavorful spices and not have full jars filling my cabinet for years.

The Spice Diva hosted a cooking class for our recent bachelorette weekend in Charlottesville. The food was FANTASTIC (an especially big feat given our many dietary restrictions) and both Phyllis (owner) and David (instructor) were lovely. Their kindness, humor, and engagement made the experience top notch. We will definitely be back!

Fabulous collection of spices and other cooking goodies. Saw merchandise I have to search out all over Richmond to locate. Great collection of contemporary cookbooks. Helpful, pleasant, knowledgeable staff. Love it!

Came in excited to show a friend a place where I usually have a great experience. We were treated very rudely and abruptly told to leave because they were closed. Was unaware they were closed because the door was propped open. I feel as though I could have been informed in a more polite manor. My friend was very disappointed and will not return. This saddens me because this is a place we were both excited to go.

I had the most wonderful experience with the Spice Diva yesterday and I just had to share! I was hosting a curry night for my roomies and I was in a very tight spot for ingredients. I contacted Spice Diva and even though it was extremely last minute, they were extremely helpful and flexible and delivered all the ingredients I needed just in time. Not only that, but they delivered contactless spices, for free, whilst equipped with gloves and a face mask (I especially appreciated that effort during the current pandemic). The spices came in a cute bag with recipes too, I m excited to try out something new. Thanks Spice Diva!

Great selection. Really good prices for much higher quality spices than you'd find at the grocery store. The Spice Diva herself is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Plus, the whole place smells amazing.

This place is amazing! Interesting and exotic stuff as well as the old standbys. Love being able to buy in small quantities. Try Will s Bacon Rub! Phylis is super knowledgable snd will help with recipe questions if you need. Her cookbook recommendations also never disappoint.

You will never find a more welcoming and honest business and business owner in any other place on earth. Spectacular selection, and always so helpful and interested in filling your flavoring needs!!

Truly impressive selection of whole and ground spices and herbs, rubs, teas, oils/vinegars, condiments, etc. When I started buying from The Spice Diva, I realized how many years I had been cooking (unknowingly) with aging, fairly dull spices from the grocery store-- the vivid fresh flavors were eye-opening! And because the selection is so wide, I started making dishes that I hadn't been able to try before. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, strong community involvement, and interesting recipe ideas are a few more reasons I highly recommend this business! Charlottesville is so lucky to have it.

Don't ever go to this fraudulent place! They are full of scammers and schemers who will lie to you! They withheld my paycheck, and have heard rumors of lawsuits because of allergic reactions and unsafe, unsanitary environments.

I've been in here a few times to look around, and until today I was treated fine. But today I walked in and told the man working there I was looking for tea. He pointed me to a shelf of loose leaf stored in containers and I walked over by myself. I'd never bought tea there before (I usually go to the Tea Bazaar which I highly recommend), and I was looking for a sign to tell me what to do (since he seemed uninterested in helping). I saw a small plastic bag in the corner of the shelf, with no labeling except "The Spice Diva", and while I thought it strange for me to put loose leaf in a plastic bag, I picked it up and opened it. He rushed over and snatched the bag out of my hand and said VERY rudely: "This is a sealed bag, that's why IT'S SEALED." I wish I could accurately convey his tone in this review. I was so taken aback that when he mumbled something about him scooping the tea for me, I just froze. It turned out the SEALED but unlabeled plastic bag housed disposable tea infusers. I told him "sorry" kind of haphazardly and walked out of the store. I will definitely not be going in there again - I will stick to the Tea Bazaar where everyone is kind and helpful.
