I recommend SLC as the best place for speech therapy. They have a high standard programme and professionals who find a way to communicate with every child. As per our research, they are the best place for speech correction in Katy. My little daughter visits them once a week; it is incredible progress in development.
My son has been going to SLC for about a year now and sees Kristen L. We walked in with a confirmed ASD diagnosis right after my son's second birthday. He had about 4 words in his voluntary vocabulary, didn't point, had little eye contact and didn't call most of the family by name (though he parroted everything). In addition to not having much expressive language, it was clear to us he was just as behind on receptive language (understanding what WE said) as well.
His third birthday is in two weeks and he's made huge progress. He calls everyone (including Kristen) by their names when he sees them. He not only has a ton of new single words, but he's stringing together phrases of 3 and 4 words on a fairly regular basis now. His eye contact is MUCH better. He will ask for what he wants, points and picks up new words as we teach them to him on a much easier basis now.
And he LOVES going. He will quickly run to the door when asked if he wants to go and play with Kristen.
We knew how important it was to choose a great speech therapist and a year later, I know we chose well. I highly recommend them!
Our son attended speech therapy services with Misty from April until November 2015. He attended 2x/week at first, and then just once a week for the last month or so, in 30 minute sessions. We cannot say how life changing the work she did was, for all of us. When he started speech therapy he had just turned two and was largely nonverbal due to hearing loss. Now he s developmentally on track and very, very vocal. I really don t know what would have happened to him had he not received her services. We appreciate everything they did so very much and will be sure to seek them out if we ever need speech therapy in the future.
Beware of billing! They charged our insurance for a session we didn't have. While they admitted their mistake, it took months (8!!) to finally be fixed. I made several calls, my husband made several calls and my insurance (BCBS) made several calls to them. Even though our insurance company walked them through the steps, they repeatedly filled out the wrong paperwork and the right paperwork the wrong way. Then when it was finally done correctly, they wouldn't reimburse my insurance company. My insurance company finally had to withhold payment from them to get the money back. We have a set number of therapy sessions covered a year and unfortunately until BCBS was "paid back" we couldn't get the credit for that session. I told billing that and even told the owner several times. He did nothing to fix it.
