Very nice! My husband had the 4 bones meal. Ribs and beans were delicious! He didn't like the greens (too peppery), but I did. He took my cole slaw, so all went well. Why 4 stars instead of 5? The tap water was nasty tasting. We'll be back next time we travel to or through Hattiesburg!

Murky Waters is definitely on the list of places you need to go in Hattiesburg. If you've never been before, please go try it. Delicious food and super friendly staff!
A 5 for the food, a 3 for the parking... I suppose that s a 4. It s unfortunate that parking is so limited... we left and went to Keg, again. We ll keep trying because BURNT ENDS!
The food was phenomenal and was beyond what I expected. The service was great, however it did take a few minutes to get our check, but other than that super amazing!!
Wings smoked and ok, greens not what its all grand to be, ribs, good like smoke ribs should be. But they have my BLACK CROWN, which many places dont have. Over all good drinks,
The food was excellent and good sized portions. Service was great too although we did go during their down time after the lunch rush. Will definitely go again!
Best wings in Hattiesburg!! Literally go once a week on wing Wednesday and get the garlic parmesan wings & potato salad. Great atmosphere, live music, & great service!
Wonderful place! Love the look from the outside!!! Service and food great! Nice vibe inside. There s a stage so I m guessing there is live music perhaps later on in the evening!
Delicious food and great service. They smoke everything in-house to perfection. The atmosphere makes for a wonderful experience. Best BBQ in Hattiesburg.
Fantastic barbecue!!! Great service. I keep getting the brisket sandwich and it is to die for. They give you 3 types of sauce (Sweet, spicey, and vinegar) and it is great to mix them up to your personal taste.
It was ok! I order the pick your two with two sides! The smoke sausage, and ribs! The sausage look like a large hot dog! It didn't tast like sausage that I would get from strick's Bar-B-Q. The ribs had no meat on it. For the price I paid! I could of received more at strick's. It was a place I try out. I was talking to a co- work that eat there said i may like it. Unfortunately I will not be going back. It's is not a bad place! It has a nice atmosphere! Has a bar. There is seating outside when it not cooled out. So I can say that it is good place others who may injoy the ambiance. I just saying what I receive was alitte short for the price.
$0.65 wing night is a must attend. The spicy garlic, medium, and blazin Asian were my favorites. Service was a little slow but overall the atmosphere was nice and the food was good! Would definitely go back again!
Tonight was our first night here. It was recommended by a coworker. The food, service, and atmosphere were absolutely great. Nothing disappointed us. We will definitely be back.
I am giving it two stars instead of one because a) the ribs were good and b) I left my purse there by accident and everything was still in it when I came back to get it.
These are the reasons my rating is so low: a) our waitress was eating in plain view (literally directly in front of us) without gloves on/washing her hands before bringing us our food, coming to pick up the food, etc b) the one-person ladies bathroom was DISGUSTING c) the iced tea was super strong and bitter d) they were out of brisket and burnt ends and d) my husband ended up getting extremely sick from the food and e) it was expensive and NOT worth the price!!
My husband and I both have histories of working in the restaurant industry and understand every place has it's "off night". There is no excuse for lack of hygiene and cleanliness, however. Time can always be made to wash your hands and to check the bathrooms!
We're from Ohio doing some vacationing in the southern & western states & was passing through & found this . It was pretty busy at 1:30pm but it was definitely worth it, good friendly service, nice atmosphere , delicious food.
Everything was great and with new flavors of an old theme, that's a wonderous thing. The spicy and the vinegar sauces were addictive and sweat inducing. Added the vinegar sauce on fries!!! Best biggest thickest onion rings around. It's easy to pass by, but it's more than worth finding.
Been here several times. Always satisfied with whatever I have otdered. A MUST is to get the onion rings either as an appetizer or a side. They are simply the best. I have enjoyed the ribs, brisket, pulled pork salad, and the hamburger. All delicious!
When in the south, eat BBQ!! This place is amazing, I wish we were here later in the evening, as there was a stage for a band, looks like fun. The food was delicious, they only thing that wasn't delicious was the potato salad, too creamy or too much dill taste or something. The BBQ beans were delicious and the BBQ sandwich was beyond yummy!! I wished I live there was one of these in my town, this would be a weekly mainstay in our dining out.
Very overpriced. Small portions for the price. Ribs were tough. Burnt ends were hit and miss on the flavor. One burnt end didnt taste the same as the next one. The toast was very buttery. The sides were very good, cole slaw, baked beans and potato salad. Will I return....probably not because there are better choices. BBQ is my favorite food and I have given many reviews on BBQ restaurants. This is my honest opinion of Murky Waters in Hattiesburg MS.
I went hoping to try the burnt ends that everyone raves over. The problem is they are usually out of them. Maybe next time. Good barbecue and I actually liked the sides better than the barbecue
I'm going to preface this by being completely honest, I was searching for the Keg and Barrel when we ended up in the parking lot at Murky Waters. I couldn't be happier that we weren't able to actually find the "other place". I had one of the best Bloody Mary's I've EVER had. The Burnt Ends, Sweet Potato Fries and Collared Greens were SO GOOD! I'll be back!
1st of all- service can make or break a dining experience.. even if you have good food, a crappy server can ruin the whole dining experience. REQUEST JOEL! He is so great! Has great recommendations! Can handle multiple tables w/o leaving you waiting or feeling rushed... And he s fun! 2nd- the food! Between the 5 of us we had some of all of it .. I ll break down what we thought of each- if you don t want to read all that- just know that it was a 9/10 in deliciousness! And bottom line- we will be back over and over - and requesting Joel every time! WINGS- table agreed these were the best wings ever (and they are huge wing fans!) - hubby said next time he d get something other than sweet asian though ... BURNT ENDS- couldn t be more delish! Charred, fatty, rich, meaty, crispy, chewy, juicy all at once... yes- I WILL have them again, and again! (But Joel warned me- Get there early! They sell out!! ) BAKED POTATO SALAD - it s a lot like other smokehouse tater salads, but better- and a perfect creamy, cold side for the hot, heavy, rich burnt ends! SWEET POTATO FRIES- sweet, crispy outside and soft inside... delish! BAKED BEANS- I m not a huge fan of them in general, but these were very good and full of bits of meat! Table agreed they were some of the best! COLLARDS- mixed reviews at the table- some loved some didn t care for them HALF CHICKEN- flash fried off the pit - so skin is crisp and juices are locked in- very juicy and good FRIED OKRA- very good! Can t tell if it was prefrozen or not- but it s not the gas station fried okra or school cafeteria version if it is prefrozen RIBS- fall off the bone tender, smoky, juicy goodness - forget picking it up w/ bone- bone comes out clean - such a good flavor- not overly smoky (which I hate) .. even the one in my Bloody Mary was yummy! Yes- I said IN my Bloody Mary! Cold and soaked in drink- but so good! BRISKET - tender! So tasty and good!! It is not overly juicy but not really dry either .. again, nice smoke ring and flavor, but not overly smoky SMOKED TUNA DIP - I don t like fish, so I didn t try. It was a nice size scoop of smoked yellow fin tuna salad on a piece of lettuce served w/ packs of crackers - the other 4 scarfed it down saying how good it was - hubby says he ll be ordering it as appetizer next time we go Bloody Mary.... holy smokes! I was too full to eat my meal after I got done w/ it.. topped with olives stuffed w/ pulled pork.. pickled green bean, full slice of brisket, and a WHOLE RIB ... and the drink is made right- really right! Great flavors!
And that s what I thought about that! Now I m full and sleepy.. GO EAT THERE- and ASK FOR JOEL ... can t possibly see how you could be disappointed
Tried this place over the weekend for a soccer tournament. Great Food & Service. The home made sauces are the real star here. The spicey bbq sauce is delicious and the ranch dressing is amazing. Next to my mother's.... the best collard greens I've ever had!!!! I could literally eat an entire plate of those collards.
Some of the best bbq in town! Their burnt ends are to die for and their ribs are so tender. The live music makes you feel at home & they will help to customize any drink of your taste from their well equipped bar staff.
Nice place, enjoyed the food, the tea was too strong, and 14 plus dollars for a small pulled pork sandwich with a side and the tea, for lunch, were a bit much. I don't want this to appear negative. I will go back but give more attention to maximizing my dollar.
