Good flavour combinations for cocktails. Cute garden with potatoes roasting in a drum only added to the charm of the place.

Good cocktails, but don't bother going. The hours on their website seem to be there as a joke. Supposedly they close at 2am on Fridays, but they were closing up the bar before midnight. This is not the first time. Not worth the walk.

Really nice cocktails! Never tried something similar, I would love to go again and try new things.

Multiple times the staff got our orders incorrectly, which culminated in messy bill calculations, and worst of all, an aggresive barman shouting at me, on my birthday!!! I shall not be returning.

Waited 25 minutes for a cocktail. Then they brought the wrong ones out and passed them on to the people next to us. Afterwards they tried to retake our order before we left.

Really not sure if I liked this place or not! Posh cocktails, but the place has a greasy spoon feel to it. Looked nicer out the back.

Really lovely find, a cosy place away from the hustle and bustle of Brixton itself. cocktails are more on the experimental side which makes choosing just the one difficult!

Disappointing customer service, small plates, interesting cocktails. We came here for a special occasion and were disappointed with the service and the tasting menu left us hungry and dissatisfied. The cocktails were interesting, especially the lemon creme brulee, however the service made the whole experience quite bad. I was very much looking forward to the evening and was very disappointed overall. Cannot recommend the place.

We came here for a Tuesday birthday night meal and it exceeded expectations. Staff, ambience, food were all exquisite. Had the set menu with Scram and could not recommend more. Shrub bar tenders were out of this world and made the night without fail. Book it in your diary and make it a night you won't forget. We'll certainly be going back for Friday night cocktails for anither shrub and shutter night to call our own again soon xx

Don't be fooled there's a second larger room which on a Tuesday night had a great vibe with Rolling Stones playing at a solid volume!

Lovely dinner - some of the best and honest dishes i've tasted in a long time. To top it all off the service was fantastic and so glad we followed the reccomendations from the staff. Thanks for a great evening!

I have been to The Shrub & Shutter around 7 or 8 times and it's always, without fail, fantastic! The cocktails are expertly made and always delicious. The staff are friendly and attentive without being OTT. The food menu changes regularly (I believe they have guest chefs) and is always good. It has a lovely relaxed environment. I've enjoyed many nights there and hope to for the years to come. Also worth checking out their sister coffeeshop/ bar First Aid Box in Herne Hill.

James and Josh made the evening absolutely incredible. the drinks are absolutely banging and the service is impeccable. Thank you for such a great night.

Delicious cocktails, especially the 'Strawberry' and 'Honey', also have decent specials and snacks. The service is very attentive and overall a good, laid back atmosphere for a night out. Took one star off as I found it a bit pricey, but I understand it's London and it's not too bad for a once in a while treat.

One of my favourite cosy places to go for a cocktail. Can't comment on the food, but this place has lovely staff and good cocktails.

Great idea with bespoke cocktails and tasting menu, its just the surrounding area down from the village has a particular evil ambience it feels like a diamond in a goats ass

This bar manages to be stylish and highly unique yet cozy and a home from home at the same time, very well thought out beautifully presented dishes and exceptional drinks menu, the business owners clearly love what they do and are immensely enthusiastic about their cocktails and food.

Fantastic place, never eaten here but staff came to the rescue when me and friends got stranded. Beautiful decor and very hospitable staff 10/10 would visit here again.

Lovely atmosphere, great date location but a little pricey

Such a cool place where a good time is always guaranteed. Amazing team. The drinks......incredible! The food is also always on point and is made up of a host of kitchen residencies so always something new to try. We go every time we can when we are in the area. Support this ace local business.

Extremely strong addition to the area. Cocktail bar and restaurant with focus on style and local ingredients. Try the old fashioned if you want to wow fellow guests. Staff were very helpful and reserved a space for 30 mins when I said I was on my way down.

A gem of a cocktail bar with a changing guest chef. I've been coming to The Shrub and Shutter for 5 years (first came 2 weeks after it opened!) and the standard of cocktails has stayed consistently high and very reasonably priced considering the care, creativity and flair put into each drink. The changing menu is always great too. If you're looking for a relaxed yet special date night, casual catch up with a friend or evening with your Mum (mine loved it!), this is one of the best options in Brixton. A great place to make memories.

Excellent bar specialized in Cuisine Style and homemade ingredients

A nice interesting cocktail bar around Brixton. Quite small but very cozy. It actually gave me the impression I am having cocktails at a friend's house or so. Extra bonus for the friendly staff.

Superb cocktails hidden away in Brixton.
Recently tried the food and it was excellent its own right.
Cocktails and food alike rotate regularly, with new specials weekly.

Current favourites include the Thai Beef Salad cocktail, or if you're craving something more filling and dessert like, don't hesitate and plunge into the Carlito's Whey.

Pricey but entirely worth it. Go in before 7 if you want to Hit the Happy Hour, all cocktails will be 7 GBP!

Unusual and a little limited but good menu and very tasty. Very friendly staff and great cocktails, also a little unusual. Recommended.

Great imaginative cocktails, some of the best I've had in London. I haven't tried the food but I did order a naughty piglets cocktail which came with an amazing piece of pork belly!

Awesome cocktail list and friendly staff. The front half is a small bar with limited seating. We were able to walk in and sit there with no booking. There's a restaurant at the back that seemed to require coming ahead.

This is with out a doubt the best cocktail bar I have been to in Brixton. The bar staff are nice and incredibly accommodating they even made me my own drink! I ve never had such a personalised experience at any other bar in London! Xxx

Terrible experience in Shrub & Shutter this evening, which was surprising given we visit regularly and usually have a great time. Made our way to the bar to ask for a table only to be greeted by a blonde female member of staff clapping her hands at us shouting you don t just walk through here without saying hello, this is a venue . I was completely shocked and surprised by her behaviour and comments given they don t usually have staff at the door to greet customers, hence why we walk towards the bar. We left immediately after being made to feel extremely uncomfortable - horrible experience and fingers crossed nobody else experiences the wrath of this lady - management take note!
